CD for the Police
cctv_down_under replied to Robert Oaks's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
That is the only way, unless you wanted just to save a few AVI files without the viewer, using the back up program does not require you to save it to the HDD Though? it saves it into memory so you can just paste it into your burning program. The easiest way is to select your times and dates and then paste into nero, but if your customer is not comfortable with that then you could juts save a few AVI files (this is very simple but does not have the program with it). if your customer is not far away, then Flag the file so it can not be overwritten and then you can do it yourself. We made a document seperate to Geo that does the Backup, it has pretty pictures and every screen shot. -
Your 250 works fine because it has no Hint Bridge controller, I would not run a Geo on a Duron and they are not supposed to work on VIA or SIS

To be honest tom, I really do not know, I have only sold a few, the one I benched actually fualted, so I do not promote them much, have sold thousands and thousands of Geo and very few problems, so i do not push the Aver Linux version much -

Kobi prices would be about the same if not cheaper but I only sell Japanese and Korean cameras and only reputable brands, the rest would be much more expensive indeed. All you need to do is Register to find out pricing! -

We basically sell 6 DVR types Geovision the flagship! This is an awesome DVr and the best on market to date, by a long shot! uses XP Pro or XP home Avermedia Reasonable quality DVR has quite a few bells and whistles but not as good as Geovision there is a linux version as well but in truth it is not all that more stable Huper Labs excellent cost effective DVR, has limited feature set but good recording quality, not as good as Geo but as good as Aver. 4 ch Standalone.. little box, has a few bells and whistles, very very cheap, has motion detection and can be used with addiitonal webserver for internet access, I have just heard today that they have changes the webserver again, so looks promising for a very cheap price tag. 16Ch Standalone, just like the others, Kalatel etc, really it is a micro PC, embedded but not as good as the Kalatel, much cheaper because Kalatel is way overpriced, not very fond of this unit and we are looking into other options. It has flash back up and USB reader, has mouse control as well, does not have CD Backup, remote software is not bad. Smart DVR not all that smart really, a fair way behind in development but very affordable, would be the equivelant of the Kobi type gear -
Micro ATX Cases
cctv_down_under replied to antdickens's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Micro ATX cases are ok but ONLY for the lower end models like the GV250 and GV600, the problem is the heat issues, a lot of MICRO ATX boards only have a few slots so you have to place cards together and this causes heat issues also the power supplies in some micro cases are pretty poor quality because of thier size and a lack of airflow in these cases can make real problems. There would be some out there that would work but only a few -

Hate to be Biased, but the Kobi Gear is not all that great, The Geoviion unit is much better and not that much more expensive at all. My site is on the banner and if you are here in OZ I can sort you out -

regarding the buffering, it can be done with the contol room or despstch server and as far as the process list, it does not show as Geo replaces the task manger and any buttons you like, like the windows key for example

Infa Red Remote Controller A remote control device that allows the user to control a Geovision DVR with a hand held remote control, this allows the user to eliminate the need of a keyboard. Object Index and Object Index Search Pictures of the first frame of every AVI file can be displayed on a window on the main screen, this is cropped image that allows you to click on any photo and be taken directly to that event in the log file, automatically selecting the files you need. The Object index Search works in the same manor but allows the user to set a search period and it will display the first picture of each AVI frame and then selecting it would take you to the event at the time for easy back up. An example would be when a client knows that an intruder came in at a certain time but is not exactly sure what time it was, by selecting a wide range of times you can easy find the intruder with his picture and select that segment. PTZ Motion Tracking Using two cameras (one PTZ and one standard camera) the PTZ can tell the difference in the picture and therefore can track people by movement, this is very useful in high traffic areas and allows the camera to zoom in and trace a moving object around a room PTZ Zooming Using a PTZ camera, you can set a preset zoom area that will become activated when that part of the picture detects movement. An example would be to set the DVR to detect movement on the front door of your premise and when motion detection occurs the camera will automatically zoom in and get a closer shot. Object Counting/ Log Object Counter/ Object Counter Alarm By defining the size of an object and by setting two areas for directional flow, the DVR can actually count the number of objects that travel between the two points this is then kept in a database file for further reference, this data can also be seen remotely via a web browser. an example of this would be to count the directional flow between points of a busy high rise and then to know how many people are still left to evacuate in the case of a fire or perhaps a conveyer belt counting objects that travel down the line. A good feature is also the wrong way alarm that can be triggered when an object moves in the wrong direction, for example.. Exiting out of a fire door or wrong way traffic. Smart Monitor Suite The DVR now has the ability to handle Anti Terrorism problems, for example a box or any object left in a cameras view after motion has stopped will activate an on screen alert as well as alarm notification if needed, additionally the system can alert the user if an item is removed from a cameras view after motion detection. An example would be a jewellery shop with valuable jewels, if the customer leaves the shop and the item is no longer at the scene then it will alert on the screen or activate an alarm SMS Server Send SMS messages to groups or single users. Vital Signs Monitor Running this application will make every single DVR that you have sold report back to a central point to inform that it is still operating and that all cameras are operational Windows Lock Up With this feature you can lock down the windows desktop and only allow access to the programs that you wish, the entire desktop is replaced with a Geovision desktop that limits user intervention and disables the Ctrl Alt Delete option. You can even rename any of the applications or or use new icons to personalise the system. the system can also replace the task manager. Additional Picture In Picture Camera The system can be set to have an additional camera added to the screen layout and confirm your loading layout each time, the additional camera can be placed in the middle of the screen and can be linked to the Camera Pop Up facility so that any camera that has movement and is configured to Pop Up will be displayed in the middle of the screen. Electronic E Map Either remotely or on the local machine the DVR can use a twin view system that will allow the user to see a graphical representation of a map that can be used to detect camera movement, this is useful on larger sites or multiple sites when it can be hard to remember where each camera is, these events are logged so that event flow can be monitored. Remotely the user can see a graphical representation of the map interface as well, this also helps with bandwidth. Improvements in Webcam Higher resolutions can now be achieved in the Webcam Client, you can now get much larger pictures, a firewall has also been added to the Webcam so that you can choose the I.P. range that you wish to allow access to the Webcam. Pop up on Webcam has also been added to the remote facility. A time limit has been added if required for the control of a PTZ and and for the actual allowable connection time to the Webcam. If camera Pop Up is activated remotely it can also link to an output allowing for integration with devices. A multi host connection can be pre configured to allow a preferred default setting allowing the user to choose a compiled view from several sites including the cameras that the user wishes to view. For example the user may have 4 sites and may want to view a few of the important cameras from each site, having a compiled view pre set, allows the user to automatically connect to the sites and cameras that the user wants to view in one easy way. An advanced search ability has been added to the webcam viewer allowing the user to locate an event, motion, signal on, video loss, login, logout, counting results and Point of Sale events. These search results can be displayed in either a text form or a statistical chart. You can now look through or search your Point of Sale Transactions remotely. Control Room Version #2 and Despatch Server SMS alert has been added to the Control Room, the Control room can receive video events on software or hardware motion, it is capable of buffering the Video that is sent on alarm to any Control room in the world until your Control room is back on line, the Control room is similar to an Alarm Monitoring Station excepting that it only requires one line and that it sends video and text, each customers details can be displayed and if allowed the Control room can listen to the site that has alarmed and record it or can speak directly to the site. If a panic button is installed at site, then it can be latched at the control room so that pushing the button, can then activate a device at the control room, Hardware pin panels can be linked to the DVR to allow the user to punch in a pin code to allow the video monitoring to activate on the DVR. The control room can also control any PTZ cameras on the site. The Control Room can activate any outputs at the site and can be fed information from a Despatch server that will determine the best available control room to send the information or video to. Touch Screen The Geovision DVR now allows for the facility of a touch screen monitor. Increased Pre Event Buffer An increase has been made to allow more Pre Event information to be stored in the Ram before motion occurs, this requires more Ram than usual. Invisible Mode The DVR can now run fully in the background without even allowing the system to be seen in the taskbar, this allows the user to hide the system completely. Twin DVR If a DVR has too many clients connecting it will inevitably slow the recording down because the ram and the CPU will be used too much, a twin server allows the remote viewing load to be shifted to a second PC taking away the load off the DVR.

Target market for Geovision
cctv_down_under replied to CCTVINSTALLER's topic in General Digital Discussion
well it does have elecronic mapping and control room software, so iw ould say airports or larger commercial areas -
Geovision keeps shafting us and although I want to keep them, unless they come up with an exclusive deal with us I am afraid we are going to have to drop them. This goes out to you Alan if yor still around, what PCI cards are good on the market, the beauty of Australia is that there are not too many true wholesalers so that if everyone has one good brand there must be a few good ones still around. Comart, Magic Radar, Idis, Skyiew and others are already sewn up.. it is going to be hard to find something that comes close to Geo, but the time has really come to have a much harder look. If anyone knows of a big player that is not represented here yet then please let me know!

Yes, boss saw them at the show, what is the website again -
I agree with thomas, I am from a computer background and then moved to CCTv, took ages to get my head around it but selling an alarm system and making a few bucks compared to an install of CCTV system that can make you many thousands, I just put my head down and bum up! If I can make a really good suggestion, I have really only been using computers for 6 years now, the very best thing you can do to get started is attend a C.O.M.P.T.I.A A+ certification course, this will teach you everything that you need to know about building machines ..it really is simple! You can learn to build machines.. but think about this.. I could learn alarms in a heartbeat, it is rather simple... but I would be sure to make many simple mistakes that might lead to false alarms etc... so there are always tricks of the trade, we tend to make it a bit confusing because we try to use very trick.. you could always buy your machines fully made, most places that sell geo offer this! Once you have done your A+ (about 6 weeks part time) I would suggest the following courses.. you do not need to but I found them very helpfull, the future of access, alarms and cctv is all in I.P so it pays to learn. Network + Inet + MCSE CNE After this there will be nothing you dont know but all you really need is A+ and Network+ Worth the time spent!

Best System For > 16 Cameras
cctv_down_under replied to kdberg's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
You probably are only using the web client to do it, instead of the remote playback serrver and did you use multiview to connect many DVr's to one screen -
Put it on C, would not use 2k with such a small partition though, more like 5Gig...also make sure you map the extra drives and stop Geo writing to C by default

I havent tried it yet but http://cctvcad.com/

The HDD also allows it to be a small mail server as well

Long cable run needs amplifier?
cctv_down_under replied to ghall's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
i would use multimode fibre for those distances, too much resistance in other cables mentioned above and amping them only magnifies any interference, fibre gives you NO interference
