    PC Vs Embedded

Cmon rory.. make it harder than that.. you know thats not veen close. In your kneck of the woods you may be right about no need for features but its a small neck!
  3. First time I disagree with you AV, Standalones and PC's will both be gone and replaced with WIFI Video servers with compression. Yes Geo markets bad.. god knows I have said that enough time.. but they sell heaps and I think more than standalone, your kneck of the woods is very different to asia and Australia, the tru indication is when you must commit to large volumes for PCI cards and yet GE will sell one standalone and cheaply, standlones are not very popular in my country or ASIA, lets face it I have a standalone that is very close to the quality of Kalatel and twice the speed but they just dont move, Standalones are very limited in features which is why Geo does so well. Geovision has a lame GUI and that is all that I can say that is wrong with the product other than their large marketing flaws. there are Geo's in Intels head office, intel shared a stand with Geo, there are Geo's in your CIA office of the US and in many major Airports and I have put them in several large banks, these are all high risk environments. I recently saw Geo used as a baggage scanner at an airport.. I must agree with AV though, anyone can buy Geo so anyone can build it and not veeryone knows a PC well enough. But if they did then my reputation would not be worth a dime so I for one am glad they can not
  4. DVS or DiViS is the same thing as CHance-I / Vendoma

    PC Vs Embedded

Standlones arfe great but far too expensive they lack a lot of features and I am yet to see one that comes close to a good PCI card and I think standalone is not the future more..WIFI and video servers with compression.

    Anyone Use KSR516 ??

    Never heard of them
  7. Not sure think US is just support or so iw as told... PC-Surviellance used to be one of the first Geo distyributors in the US they got burnt buy geo selling direct so they shafted them back by dropping the product.. sure Chance-I is not as good but then it is less known and less likely to sell direct.

    Building a Geovision system

PCI8x was launched here yesterday and the new mainboards and CPU's too, I have seen Geo run fine on SIS but not Via, sometimes you get lucky.. Nice puter, I am building myself a new one for home so I can play Half Life 2 when it is launched!
  9. Not enough options to cast a vote!!! they have the best DVr PCI card in the world currently and that is obvious but they have the very worst of ethics imaginable, yes they have a big US office for support so that is not an issue.. their product rocks, you should see the new stuff (not out yet)...But be carefull of their well below average marketing tactics
  10. Video Card might be a little on the week side 128mb is better.. but should still work

Geovision and the onboard sound card

The beeping noise is because you have less cameras connected to the system than it is told is there, you need to limit the ports then restart geo and de activate the cameras not in use. It sounds like you have a weak camera signal, this is usually from either undervoltage ..too many cameras on one supply or cheap and nasty cameras. However it would pay to check that you have installed direct x 9 and that the hardware is functioning properly. Please be sure that you have not recorded to the C: drive, make sure you use a partition to record to and take away the default recording to C: Drive or you will strangle the swap file
  12. No problems, make sure you have dirct x 9 on your machine, it could have been a incompatabilty with the video card, what are you using?

Geovision "key pro" and "card setup fail&quot

Keypro is the card. its a small rom chip on the card to protect against piracy from buggers like you You cant run kalatel main system without the box or can you?
  14. What version of card..1,2 or 3.. and does your system reboot or just Geo, check that you do not have cameras enabled that are not connected.. you MUST limit the port first to the cameras you have then de activate the cams

Geovision "key pro" and "card setup fail&quot

What the.....your talking about the main softwrae at least I thought you were.... I fail to see how you can take a cd and see the softwrae without the actual device.. if you meant remote software, of course... you dont need hardware for remote software..

    Existing CCTV and inline PC

Yes, use a distribution amplifier to split the signal... like having two sets of cables then, redirect one set into the DVr card and continue the old ones where they went.. via the loop throughs on the amp... or take out the analogue gear and record to PC where the analogue gear is and then use your computer network to view it on your PC

    Nubie Question

The kalatel does a similar technique but not he same, it will only work with one camera, it does not spread evenly because it can not buffer.. I could be wrong though... You will probably find the reason the image is blurred is due to either bad compression, too much compression or more likely you are using a 2.5 or 4mm fixed lens, the other reason could be that your camera is only Low res.... below 460 TVL

Geovision "key pro" and "card setup fail&quot

That problem occurs when you load the software before loading the drivers for the card.. if you did this then remove the INI files and do it again, if you load the softwrae and then the drivers then it cant see the dongle!...KEY PRO. Also happens if card is inserted in first PCI slot if it is shared with AGP

    Need help locating a camera

I forgot to tell you as well.. some Board lenses have long shanks and some have short, be sure to measure them before you order, it depends on how far from the sensor it finishes... choosing the wrong one will make you screw it in too far and smash the sensor, there is also a grub screw on most lenses, so if yours has this then it needs to be undone before you unscrew it..some just have a spring to hold it in place but that is usually only on cheaper Taiwanese domes and some have Glue would you believe!!

    Need help locating a camera

There are several different types of lens for Dome cams, but if you are usuing non Auto Iris domes then most will come with either a 4mm or 3.6mm lens, these are interchangeable and called Board Lenses.. thje other Auto iris ones are usually mounted differently and are not usually interchangeble. One thing to note though is that Japanese Board lenses are different, they have a different thread size, we found that on the Ganz domes, I would assume that you would have board lens cams if not Auto Iris and you should be able to get them at like.. $10 each.
