    Just A General Price question

I knew about the invisible light ones but I would check that rating rory, the invisble ones do not last that long, by discreet i did not mena the almost blinding light (you can sunbake under it) what I meant is the size of the actuall array! they arent very small, but that is because they darn well work a treat.. The Best illumination devices I have seen yet, Mind you they do not miss you with the price, considering the cost of the Leds they make a killing on it!

Good idea, you could lock it down also buy using four other methods. The Policy Editor in Windows casn lock the user out of things. You can use a cordless mouse and keyboard and lock them away You could use Virtual Keyboard software You can lock it up in a cabinet

I agree and Dissagree with AVDESIGN, Geo's marketing aproach is woefull to say the least, what they will do to you is they will be your friend and offer pretty good prices and a rebate for advertising their product with their logo, this serves to expose your area to Geo, then after people try to shortcut you and buy from Geo and they see the demand in your area from the work you do to promote it, they will take distribution pricing away by setting unreasonable targets then they will contact everyone in security in your area and try to sell direct to them and lastly they will visit your country to sell there themselves. There is nothing that compares to Geo on the market, the Dedicated Micros is good so is the kalatel but hate to tell you, Dedicated and Kalatel also bandy prices differently so you can not be sure where to set your prices, ONLY in the US have I seen Kalatel and ONLY in UK have I seen standardised prices and I fear that is more due to distributors actually working together than Manufactorers setting prices, for this means you will have the same issues as Geo with Dedicated and Kalatel They also attend more shows than Geo and just because they do not sell direct does not mean that at a trade event they can not tell your customer to buy cheaper from their other distributor in Europe. This is a common problem and I suggest that you can actually Go with Geo but be prepared ahead of them, you can use the rebate and use them, but sell it as OEM, dont mention it is Geo, change the GUI and never use their product codes, then people wont contact Geo and they will not really keep an eye on the demand, this should work for a good 12 months and you will be able to sell a rock solid product while looking for somehting better without having to watch over your shoulder. Thats what I wish I had done anyhow, and if you need to buy Geo you can get it from me then they wont know of the demand in your area! I hope this helps, GC

    Ademco (Honeywell) Video Cameras

They have a cool open protocol, but very expensive if not bought direct from the manufactorer, I outsell them with the Merit lilin one 27x and Day Night camera with Panasonic lens, full kit with housing, Keyboard, converter mouting and brackets only $2500 Aus which I think is about $2000 US and we make a nice margin on them, but they are not as good, the Ademco Brand costs! so does Polo ralph lauren... but I still buy their gear

they are great aren't they, I have been recommending them to many customers... Two problems though, they are hardly discreet and they burn out very quickly

    Holy Moly Surveillance Upgrade

Geo is by far the best that I have seen for the money, but their marketing sucks, great for the end user but bad for the distributor. The hint Bridge controls the output to the PCI Bus, using other chipsets will result in the system operating for some time then getting confused and rebooting, some SIS chips will work with the occasional reboot due to a system freeze but Via will not really work well at all and it may not ven post with the card inserted, models higher than Gv600 all have the Hint bridge controller

the software source code is written to look for a security Rom (Dongle) and that would not be on your card, therefore the system will not run as it will refuse to use the card. Yes you could get around this but I have never tried to, nor do I wish to, my company is legit!

    Geovision Questions

If you are a retail client, it is not a downside, but some of us are distributors, the more you buy the cheaper it gets and if distributors list prices then the retail client knows how much it is worth. For example, I magine you went to buy a new car, you can not buy from the manufactorer, not really just a distributor, you cant just walk in to the factory and buy it, therefore say the distributor adds 30% and another only adds 5% and they do not stick to the recommended prices...they wont survive long with that margin but while they do they kill the distributor. Another point is say you sell a DVR as a dealer to a retail client for say $4000, your computer parts might be say $1400 and perhaps the card is $800 so you made $1800, how would you feel if the retail client you were selling it to found out that he could buy a machine make it himself and buy the card at 5%, not much point being a distributor. The issue is that listing prices allows the retailer to find out the cost, meaning that your margins are set, you cant put much on top and lest face it sometimes you need or want to charge a lot more so the poor dealer can never lift his prices to a retailer that can afford it and his margins are exposed, I am not against listing prices, just against listing lower than recommended prices without having to register as a dealer. if you sell PC's its different because you are used to small margins and most retailers have already an idea of the price but say you were making 90% would you like me to tell your retail client that you were making that much or would you prefer he did not know your cost? If you stick to recommended prices NO ONE gets hurt as the customer knows he got a good price, but if you list cheaper and you may not ven be able to buy at that price, the misconception is that you have been ripped off.

    Building a Geovision system

The P4800 Deluxe is a Brilliant board, I use it for all models ablove GV800 (I also use one in my own machine at home) with 3yr warranty and the latest Chipset, it is the best of the affordable boards, however it is a bit of an overkill for a 650 machine. I tend to overscope my machines..even use the ATI 9800XT and Sata drives, but buying a board like the Asus high end may not be necessary for what you need.. I mean the board has built in WIFI, hardly needed but you pay for it, goes super fast with a good 1GIG TwinX from Corsair. If you can afford to use it then do so!

Your Geo card will not work on the Via board unless you use the GV600 or GV250, and both of them are pretty darn slow..almost as slow as a standalone device.
