Want To Purchase Digital Video recorders
cctv_down_under replied to Robert Oaks's topic in Digital Video Recorders
The best way is to first find out what DVR brand you want.. for example if you want Geo... then tell Geo you want full machines and they will tell you the closest Re-Seller... Standalones are pretty slow still.. but it is agood idea to haev machine built by experts -
The latest.. Direct X is on the Geovision disk and the instructions state to load this first.. plus the drivers before the sofware.. I do not think this is your problem though.. I think you forgot to disable your onboard sound card and I fear you may also have not loaded the motherboard drivers?
-
Common mistake....... you loaded the software before the drivers... now you need to rmeove the INI files and the software then do the drivers first!
-
I have heaps of clearance items,, but I am here in Australia,,,I have some really cool Ganz cameras that are selling for $75 thats Japanese!! or I have heaps of housings and such... let me know what you are after and I will give you a price!
-
The lower the F-stop the more light the camera lets in through the lens....Video drive just means that the Lens willl adjuts the Iris motor... DC drive means the camera does it.. more popular this way. Some lenses have glass and some have some plastic bits, be carefull and try to buy lenses from Japan as they tend to be of the best quality, I like the Computar brand

backup procedure for Geo600/computer system
cctv_down_under replied to Robert Oaks's topic in General Digital Discussion
Geovision has its own Backup software, however i do not think it is automatic, you could use any third party back up softwrae or the one built into windows... most software will allow you to chose what folders you want to back up and will allow you to choose the time to back up. Geo crates folders in camera numbers.. so it should not be too much of an issue -
I agree with most of your statements PAT.... ' And then?? 1/Do you agree that the X View chip sucks? volume. Make up your mind? Pat I do not know much about cameras at all.. I never proffesed to do so? However i have sold... Thousands and Thousands of cameras... Yes BLOODY sony Branded and Cheapies, and I CAN TELL you I am not doing anything wrong.....technical sources aside, the ex view chip is very sensitive as I mentioned but it is also very sensitive in the day.. I am not saying it does not work well I am saying that they are more sensitive so they look too bright during the day, especially in dome cameras without auto iris! This is true, I should know this much!! Secondly both Ganz and SONY themsleves in their latest camera PDF's have listed the following in their specs...1/3" I.T. Sensor.. why would the maker of the chip make such a mistake? I admit it standls for waht ytou said, but if Sony themsleves call it that why can't I? You know much more than me I do not pretend to know more but these seems weird... please explain it.. if you would like the link to the Sony website and the PDF of the camera that labbeled itself I.T. sensor.. I would be happy to provide it.. and if the Ex view is so high end why can you buy exview dome camaeras for 75$ US????? and yet the others are more expensive. You are probably right and me wrong.. but I can tell you this much.. the way they filled the gaps on has made the camera too much more sensitive and out of the ones I have sold...Many types... they do not handle bright lighting.. oh yeh.. there are no dips to adjust and its a SONY camera... so go figure?
-
I nearly forgot.... the I.T sensor is in the Ganz wide Dynamic and is called I.T. for Interline Transfer, it is the only one I have seen witht eh SUPER HAD technology that does do the job well at day time!

I would really like to know more of why you rate the XView chip so highly? I do not know much about cameras but this is what I have learnt from personal experience is the following: The shrinkage of the pixel size requirements have made the effective aperture area smaller for newer ccds, this leads to less ability to be light sensitive. Sony brought out an "on chip" microlens to disperse the aperture area and concentrate the areas, this leads to more sensitivity...The microlenses on the pixels have small gaps, the SUPER HADD technology was designed in a way to minimise the gaps between these microlense by way of a different shape and utilization of this lens. The X view chip has increased the charge abilty of the CCD within lower light wavelengths, in fact very near to IR light spectrum, it has YES increased the abilty to deal with smearing problems, the reason is that it is more sensitive and can therefore recieve a higher saturation signal level, the problem is that unless the correct controlling electronics are in a camera the CCD can be TOO sensitive to light and therefore not good for well lit areas. In truth my earlier statemnet was not true, but the Ex view chip does suck unless you pay for high end cameras and unless you get the higher grade chip. There is common miss conception that if you pay for a good chip you have a good camera and that is not true, after all a good engine needs a good gearbox to run it. For you to say how good they are you, are either a manufactorer or only deal with the higher end gear! Hay i dont know much about Cameras at all so I may be wrong, maybe I should hang in the DVR area and just nod my head.... My experience, ... tried many ex and had and ex had, ... none are very good under strong daylight, even with the best of lenses! I would be interested to find out why?

Well.. Pat.. you seem to know your stuff.. and very carefully stated points.. tell me the answer to these four questions please if you can as I could use your valuable assistance. 1/Do you agree that the X View chip sucks? 2/ Do you agree that many manufactorers use these chips so they can boast about low light ability, even though the sensor is usually too sensitive to operate well in very well lit areas.. Lets be honest there are more to cameras than just the chips, you need to be able to control? 3/Do you agree that there are several grades of the afore mentioned chips and that not all of them perform as well? 4/ What company do you work for or are you form a manufactorer? (My Bets for the forum is BOSCH or Pana or Dedicated Micros)

Thats correct.. its Sunday here and I am off to play indoor soccer in aminute so I cant tell you which ones have it but I will haev a look when I get back to work.... I thought it was the Pelco.. but I can not remember to be honest.. I am pretty sure that Sensormatic have that feature.. however it is not fool proof!
-
I do not think anything is wrong with the cameras... probably an interlacing issue with his video card... I will wait for the screen shot to see!
-
Any closed relay circuit can be sent to the PTZ, the keyboard for the PTZ or I/O module from Geovision can be programmed in such a way that when detecting a closed circuit that it immediatly goes to a PRE Set position for a certain legth of time then continues its toor.... so erevry time an intruder goes near any sensor the camera will turn and zoom at him. Philips is not the only PTZ with motion tracking... and infact Geo are to release it as part of their sofware!
-
The glitch's sound like you are running an onboard video chip instead of a video card... if not send me a screen shot as I have yet to come accross such a problem out of all the machines we have built. It does not sound liek cameras are the problem... I would look for a distributor that sells these cameras a they should be in your budget.. http://www.koreacctv.com That is incorrect..... there is a difference between 1.1 volt peak to peak and 1 volt peak to peak.. it may work on a monitor and not DVr because of this and this does not mean that your PC is stuffed!

http://I cannot see a valid reason for a PTZ in a residential application unless you are going to be home watching and controlling it. PTZ's don't have much use unless you have a guard type situation since if you are not home it will either be lookin at one particular area, or if so equipped running a guard tour which doesn't do you much good unless you are still there to take control when you see something interesting. For the price of one PTZ you can by several fixed cameras. Average U.S. price for a PTZ is anywhere from $795 to $1295 wholesale and that doesn't include a controller. I disagree with that, if used in conjunction with hardware sensors then teh PTZ will go where the detected person is, that is better than having multiple cames cash wise, we have put many PTZ units into expensive resedential places. The Phillips is pretty good but it is not in that price range!

Good point....x view would be fine if you do not care much about day images

Huper DVR 2400
cctv_down_under replied to cctv_down_under's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I think they are working on Linux.. but it is a PC based DVR .. it looks the goods, our engineers reckon it rocks, I am about to import it -
It is not needed much unless on an old system

Ex View chips suck!!!! I would spend more and get a good Day Night switching camera, it will last for ages.. if you dont buy name brand make sure it is either Japanese or Taiwanese... stay clear of cheap x view chips and sony super hads! The Sony I.T sensor is the best by a long shot and can be bought in many cmaeras.. for cheaper good quality go here... http://www.koreacctv.com Ask them for a re-seller in your area.. or for top of the range go the Pelco or here for inexpensive high end http://www.cbcamerica.com/cctvprod/index.html

What DVR did it come from.. ?? look for a file with .exe ... this is probably the executable to run the viewing program... or look for the .avi files

i am an expert on Geo.... what i the problem.. if it is slow it may be because your recording to the C: drive... also it sounds like you have corrupted your video logs,, run the repair database utility to fix it or re -format.. record on another partition. You are wrong about geovision.com.tw it has version 6.2 not 5.4 unless that is all the 600 series uses, we dont sell the 600 as at 25fps it is way too slow.

Motion sensing PTZ control is poor at that price range, there are only a few that do it and it would be very expensive, i looked into it a while back. What they best and probabl the way they are talking about is to incorporate hardware sensors that send signals to the PTZ telling it where to go... actual pixel direction is very poor at this stage but is on the improve.. I have seen a lot of demos on the technology and the only PTZ devices that come close are much more expensive then that... keep in mind PTZ motors run 24/7 if on tour so reliable components are a must.... also here is a tip.. many people put their PTZ in an outside housing but forget to remove the orignal plastic dome cover, this affects the lens and the image. The best quality PTZ's I have seen are Pelco.. also has the best programmable protocol and Panasonic.. the cheapest is Merit Lilin. Ptz' devices are great if you haev good choke points that can set off sensors.. we also sell a Pelco protocolled PT Dome.. it only has a digital zoom but it is a standard dome which can be controlled and only costs around $400 US with Keyboard..t hsi means through your DVR or internet you can control a camera for less than $400 US

Ganz sell a good CCTV service monitor and a great viewfinder!

Extreme hmake specialised hard core products, they are famous for harsh condition cameras, they seem to make very sturdy gear! Do you have fibre already running through the site that you wish to run cameras on?
