  1. Even if the switch is capable of supplying that amount of current (does seem unlikely), chances are whatever external power supply you using definitely can't. What does it take, a 52V 2.3A+ supply? Probably need 2.5-3.0A in reality.
  2. I do wonder if something's going on with your settings. The camera I have that works very well is the SD22204T-GN, although I would suspect that other cameras based on the same firmware generation would work too. This is a mini PTZ but it does NOT have IR illumination, so you either need adequate nighttime ambient light (like street lights), or a separate IR illuminator. I will say it records much higher quality video without IR than my 3200C's do even with IR in the same general area. EDIT: I just checked, and in the last 21 days the longest motion recording it's captured is 859mb, or over 14 minutes. In fact, there are 167 recordings over 200mb in size. For the 3200C, the longest recording is 369mb or 6 minutes, but there are also 118 recordings under 1mb in size in just 7 days (0 on the new camera).
  3. Never get any responses to my questions either. Anyways, are they ALL 20mb or are there occasionally longer/shorter ones too? I have a couple HFW3200C recording to FTP, and they're... well, kinda buggy about it. I sometimes get tiny files (like a few hundred KB), lots of short files, files with missing frames, and multiple recordings of the same thing happening at the same time... but occasionally appropriately longer files, too. I recently bought a 2015 model Dahua that has NAS recording, and it's GREAT - works exactly as I would expect. In fact, I'd say motion detection / reliability / recording is night and day better versus the older cams.
  4. I see on my new camera there are 3 different picture settings/profiles: Normal, Day and Night. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to switch between them automatically - my choices are "Normal", "Full Time" either Day or Night, or a set schedule which doesn't work in my region where daylight hours are constantly changing. Is there no way to get it to apply "Day" when the camera thinks it's day (ie in color) and "Night" when it switches to B&W mode? Basically, I'm finding the WDR settings are working against each other... in daytime, HLC on "Low" looks great, but at nighttime the picture is way too dark due to parking lot lights and BLC with a custom region works better.
  5. Does anyone know where to get the latest NTSC firmware for the HFW3200C (2mp large bullet, AKA QSee QCN8002B)? The latest firmware indicated for my QSee is late 2012, and I was wondering if Dahua ever updated it with any fixes or enhanced features. The last link I found in this thread is dead. Also just picked up a SD22204T-GN mini PTZ - amazed at how many more settings it has. Also has a very handy NAS storage option missing from the old Qsee (which is stuck with FTP). Firmware on it is 2.400.0000.4.R.T1.484 (2015-06-07).
  6. Anyone have any feedback on the Dahua SD22204T-GN (AKA Q-See QCN8029Z) mini 1080p PTZ camera? It's only 4x zoom, but that should do it. Looking for something discrete and versatile to monitor a very troubling situation next door to me.
  7. Okay... for now (until I get a proper NVR) I've set up a once-daily cron job on the ReadyNAS that automatically removes old files and directories after X number of days. In testing, it appears to work exactly like I was hoping. For future reference, I'm using: find /c/share/camera_name/* -depth -mtime +21 -exec rm -rf {} \; (With "21" changed to however many days desired.)
  8. It can't and won't work on FTP, due to limitations of the FTP protocol. First, there's no provision in the FTP protocol for querying the amount of free-space on a FTP server. Secondly, it's not a device controlled by DAHUA, so, as a safety measure, DAHUA will not tinker with it; DAHUA doesn't agree to delete files in an uncontrolled system As a side note, FTP should be used as a backup, not as a main storage point. Well, I can see why the option to delete older files when you run out of space won't work (which is a separate setting), but this is supposed to delete files after X number of days. The FTP client can delete files, it can see file dates (and besides, the camera stores everything in dated directories one per day), so everything needed would be there for a once-a-day job run right from the camera. Not saying it's the right idea, but just that I don't see a technical limitation. I'm just in the testing stage while I work out budget and how many cameras I need, and unfortunantly without buying a full-fledged NVR or NVR software for the ReadyNAS (the one option for that doesn't seem overly well-supported), my only two recording options are an internal SD card or FTP. So, for now, FTP it is. Maybe the next step would be to add SMB or NFS support to cameras for better integration with NAS systems. Anyone have any suggestions on an automated way to do this on the ReadyNAS? I'm not actually sure what scripting options are possible on it, or maybe if there's even a plugin already available or something.
  9. Like most things... it doesn't actually say. But reading up here and elsewhere, it SEEMS like it's supposed to work on FTP as well.
  10. For my first time security camera setup, I've been playing around with a Q-see QCN8002B 1080p IP cam, otherwise known as the Dahua IPC-HFW3200CN, and I have a question about the "auto delete old files" setting. Basically: does it actually work? For now I'm using the camera without a NVR. I have it FTP'ing motion recordings to a ReadyNAS server, which is working fine. I can browse the server and play the DAV files manually, or I can load up PSS and get a list of them or see them plotted on a timeline. But I was assuming that the auto-delete setting would cause the camera to "clean up" files after the specified number of days. The Q-see firmware only allows for a "Customized" setting with the number of days. I have this set to "3" just for testing, meaning I would expect directories older than 3 days old to be erased, but currently I have recordings sitting there from the 22nd to the 28th - basically it's never deleted anything. Currently it's setup to use an anonymous FTP login, which is allowed to delete files (I logged in manually and tested). Anyone have any experience here?
