    New Cameras

Morning all, I need some advice from the knowledgeable please. Over 15 years ago when I was able to do these sort of things I fitted a CCTV system in our present house It has two cameras wired into the recorder which is in the loft. A while back the recorder simply just stopped working and I was told it was just to old to be worth repairing so I should get a new digital one. I'm now in my 86th year and the old bones just start to complain now when I try scrambling about and up and down ladders. Anyhow I did manage to fit a wireless Texecom alarm system a few years back and got our local engineer to commission it for me so that I could tell the insurance company that it was professionally fitted. He came round the other week and fitted a new Dahua CCTV recorder and got it all working but said the the two old cameras I fitted way back were just not doing justice to the system and I seriously ought to think about replacements. When I look at my sons set up I can see what he means just chalk and cheese. So, I'm looking for advice on what I would need to pay for a couple of wired cameras to update the system. Being pensioners we obviously can't afford the very best but at the same time don't want to buy rubbish. I would be hopeful of getting something for somewhere between £50-£75 per camera or is that just wishful thinking

    New to CCTV

Hi, I'm completely new to CCTV, I've got as far as installing a Avtech 4 channel DVR and Two dome camera's. I was told to install the DVR in the loft and connect it with a cat5 thru cable to a our router and shown how to register it wirelessly to my wifes computor and we now have the Two camera's showing on screen. That's as far as we've got, we've now got to find how to access playback, motion detect, recording times and lot's of other things, (we are a pair of old numptys where computors are concerned) and this is proving a problem. Apart from that I was just wondering if, in the future, I wanted to go another route, would this work? In our bedroom we've got a 19" flat screen television which we don't use mainly because it's analogue, if we wanted to use this instead of the computor would this be possible? I realise I would need to disconnect the cat lead from the DVR and fit a lead from there to the TV. But what lead would I need bearing in mind I think the only connection on the TV is scart. The reason for all this is, my wife dosen't really like having the system on her computor which I suppose makes sense because we both can't use it at the same time. I would really appreciate any help and suggestions on this, before the duchess throws me out. " title="Applause" /> Pete. Report this post Top
