New to CCTV, about to install one camera residential system
Helheim replied to CODE4's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you set the format to MJPEG and use this URL you don't have to use IE: http://ip:port/cgi-bin/cmd/encoder?GET_STREAM That's what I've been doing to watch it on my iPhone. -

I'm looking for a good outdoor day/night ip poe dome that is relatively small and surface mountable plus is has to work in the cold Canadian winters, not asking for much am I? There are the Arecont AV1355DN or AV2155DN that is rated to -20 but from reading on here it seems the night time performance doesn't seem to be the best?? Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Is the NUVICO MS-Z10 MINI PTZ a good camera?
-
I'm trying to decide where to mount cameras on the front of my house. I was planning on using domes, unless there is a reason not to? This is that I have come up with any comments? Do I need that many, more?

My only complaint is the site is very slow for me compared to others. -
What is a decent day/night 10x PTZ that can be surface mounted? Thanks
-
Thanks for the feedback. Can you give me an example of one? I was thinking about using either WV-NW484S or WV-CW484 Panasonic domes, perhaps a Nuvico at the door. Good idea. The house faces east.

Has anyone used one of these cameras? In the specs it says up to 30 ips but is that at full resolution? Would it be better to just get a WV-CW484 instead? Are there any other comparable cameras to this? Thanks

I just bought a CoVi EVQ-1000 off ebay but I'm not sure what kind of lens I should use. I'll be using it indoors day/night. Can anyone recommend a good lens to use with this camera and where to get it from? Thanks.

Which is better for the money for a DVR card or which provides the best quality? The main feature I’d like is the ability to watch full D1 in real-time with audio. Recording is secondary at this point but might be useful in the future. It looks like the GV-1240 can do this right? What about the AVerDiGi Hybrid NV7000? Is the display rate specs the ones for watching in real-time? Thanks.

Can You Help Me Choose a Better DVR Card?
Helheim replied to gaz_0001's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I'm pretty new so I'm not 100% sure but I don't think you can get a decent card for that price. -

Avermedia or GeoVision?
Helheim replied to Helheim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Does MPEG-4 (GeoVision GV-2004) or H.264 (AVerDiGi NV7000) provide better quality? It looks like depending on the computer used you can actually get more frames per second than the hardware compression cards, is this correct? Thanks. -

What cameras are those in that video? -
Avermedia or GeoVision?

How many FPS will the GV-800 do with 2 cameras at D1? How about 4? Thanks. -
Avermedia or GeoVision?
Helheim replied to Helheim's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Just two cameras to start with but if it works out good I'll add more. AVerDiGi Hybrid NV7000 does hardware compression but it looks like only 60/8 or 7.5fps? If you only have two cameras can it do 60/2 or how does that work? Which GeoVision cards do hardware compression? Is the display rate listed for the Geo cards the frame rates for live viewing? http://www.aver.com/dvr/comparison_nv.pdf Thanks. -
Hello, I've been looking around for baby monitoring solution for awhile but there is just so much out there I'm not sure what would work best for me. I'm looking for a solution that meets the following criteria: Must have 1. Day/Night operation without glowing red LEDs 2. Ability to watch and listen on a TV (I have a 2 channel modulator if necessary) 3. Descent video & audio quality Nice to have 4. Ability to watch and listen on a computer 5. PoE I was thinking about an IP camera with an analog out as well but I'm not sure how that would work for getting sound on the TV? Also I’m looking at spending less than $1000 for everything I need. Please, advise me of some appropriate solutions. Thanks.

Well I ended up buying a Covi EVQ-1000 and Panasonic WV-CP484, not sure which one I'm going to use yet buy hopefully one of them will work good in low light. Now I just need something for audio and maybe a DVR card with TV out as well.
