  1. Blue Iris still does the motion detection when writing direct to disk is enabled jsl10.
  2. Nice cameras and great video Korgoth! " title="Applause" />
  3. I gotta hand it to you Z: you take the bullets with a grain of salt. This is actually quite laudable.
  4. You bought a Swann NVR for krikey sakes. More memory and a 64-bit OS I'll give you. But while you explore the Yellow Brick Road I'll purchase faster processors, more cores, faster drives and greater bus width while you tell The Wizard to start re-coding a 64-bit version of Blue Iris.
  5. Would not a 64-bit version of Blue Iris simply allow it to address more memory? What is the advantage of this when my dedicated BI server rarely utilizes more than 400MB of memory?

What system could be used for my needs?

Listen to what The Kawboy tells you.
  7. They may be...and they may not be.

    Colorado Springs

Welcome. The best way to go is to live here for several months and read and read and read. And take a course in local area networking if you are able.
  9. Z, the only thing you said that disturbed me was how nasty and disrespectful when referring to some guys who were trying to make a living by selling you a surveilance system. I had my say and that was the end of it as far as I'm concerned.
  10. Regarding the 4 tasks...read the manual for the HIKVision DS-2CD2032-I camera (apparently there is a single manual for many HIKVision cameras). Regarding the capabilities of the VMS software I use...read the manual!
  11. csmba, I believe that these cameras contain all of the built-in feature you have expressed a need for. However, I use them with a VMS (Blue Iris) so I am not certain. I would suggest you read back and find the post I made with the Hikvision user manual for these cameras. All of the information you need should be in the manual. But wait, there's more! This is Costco bro! Buy the cameras and, if you're not satisfied, simply return them for a full refund; there is no limit on how long you can try them: 90 days, 180 days, 365 days: w h a t e v e r! Trendnet sells an inexpensive 8-port POE switch ($52.00 at NewEgg). Good luck!
  12. You got a lotta forkin' nerve bro! But, seriously, your suggestion certainly is a viable alternative; my personal perspective is that I get everything you have suggested -- and much much more -- by using a video management system (VMS) application on my computer. NVR? Well I don't know much about that option other than to surmise that if the user has a specific requirement then NVRs most likely suit the requirement perfectly. But if you've got any geekness in you at all, IP cameras and a decent VMS (I use "Blue Iris") is very effective and a heckuva lot of geekoliciousness fun.

CCTV Setup with Uninterruptible Power Supply

If you're using "IP cameras" with power-over-ethernet (POE) then you can simply plug your network video recorder (NVR) into any decent uninterruptable power supply (UPS)...(in the preceding supposition, your NVS provides POE to your cameras). You can research how many maximum watts your NVR draws to determine how long the UPS will power the NVR (and hence, how long your NVR will power your cameras). I would imagine a 1500kv UPS might power your NVR for an hour or more, but your research will provide you with more exact information about how long your video will stream in event of a power failure. If you're in a country where the local grid is shaky (Iraq, for instance) you should look into a generator or inverter which is rated to power computer equipment. You may also want to look into a transfer switch to make the switch from the grid to your generator safe and instantaneous (at best) or safe and convenient (at worst). HTH

    Multiple Brand Client Software

Please people. If you have an answer to the QUESTION ACTUALLY ASKED fine, but I have an Android ap that works just fine and I AM NOT LOOKING FOR ONE. In fact I have three installed on my phone for demos for my clients based on what their needs are. Now I will make a point of NOT RECCOMENDING any Droid or iPhone aps trying to be hawked by vendors in this thread. I am looking for a multiple MFG compatible PC and/or MAC based application for viewing and reviewing video from multiple sites. If you have one I would like to hear about it. If you know of one I would be very thankful if you chose to share that information. If you just want to hawk what you have and don't have what I want. BUZZ OFF! Thank you for your understanding. I think captainpc may have misunderstood what your requirements are; it's fairly evident that he isn't trying to sell that particular brand of VMS software, seeing as the guy who develops and sells it a one-man show. Your response scored an 8 on the CreepIndex, considering the guy was trying to help you. I think you should apologize to CaptainPC, he's probably pretty broken up about it and he most likely needs to get some sleep tonight and not stare at the ceiling all night worrying about upsetting an important guy like you.

    Hi everyone!

    Hello raman gaba...and welcome!
  16. You should WAIT before you flash your camera. I sent my Hikvision flashed SWNHD-820CAM to MaxIcon to tear apart. Let's see what Sherlock Holmes has to say about the inner most workings of these units before you go radically altering the functionality of your camera. In addition, the only POSSIBLE benefit of flashing these cameras is to those individuals who are not using a Swann NVR. As I understand it, Swan NVR's will limit your camera to 2MP, so flashing under such circumstances does not make a whole lot of sense.

Protecting a customer FROM corrupt police.

If the police are corrupt who is left to report the evidence to? In addition, what qualifies as "evidential" video; is not recorded audio also required? This is a disturbing situation and it sounds like a revolution is needed too.
  18. It would depend in large part on the processing capabilities of the PC which was running Blue Iris.
  19. How about if I just loan the camera to you Max? If you're interested, PM me a shiping address. I can USPS 3-Day Priority Mail it to you tomorrow, if you're interested. This is a 2-week loan offer from date of receipt (then I need to put it to work doing what it's supposed to be doing!). Cannot be combined with any other offers. Void where prohibited by law. Some assembly required. Act now. Supplies limited!
  20. Sure enough, here's the perp walk bro... 2048x1536 resolution with a 2,000kb (2,047,194 bytes) file size: http://www.zombiesmustdie.com/img/cams/hikflash04.jpg 1920x1080 resolution with a 1,398kb (1,398,368 bytes) file size: http://www.zombiesmustdie.com/img/cams/hikflash05.jpg 1280x720 resolution with a 738kb (756,143 bytes) file size: http://www.zombiesmustdie.com/img/cams/hikflash06.jpg
  21. Sorry STtickman, I'm a tad confused: which video did you inspect that resulted in the reported 1280x960 resolution? Was this video from a Swann SWNHD-820CAM which had been flashed with the Hikvision firmware? No it's from my Dahua 2100 which I used just to show how VLC will tell you what resolution the VIDEO is OK then. To the best of my knowledge, below is the only video which has been posted from a HIK flashed SWNHD-820CAM. Are you able to ascertain anything from this video? Or do you need access to the original video before it was uploaded to YouTube?
  22. You're exaggerating...it's only been line 6,245 times you've told us that
