  1. I am having hard time capturing license plates at night on the street in front of my house. Need some advise. During the day I have no issues - capturing is crisp and legible I am using a q-see qtn8039b bullet, zoomed all the way through - the distance between the camera and the cars is somewhere around 20 meters (65 feet). There are some street lights, but not close to where the camera is focused. I tried adding IR lights - first added the Raytec RL50-F-50, which did not work. I then realized that the distance is more than 50 feet (the RL50-F-50 is rated at up to 50 feet), so I bought medium range Vario I4 light. I tried all the three angles (10x10, 30x10 and 60x25), and while it does light up the whole scene, I still cant see anything on the license plates. Help?
  2. Hi all, I need to buy 2 IP cameras within the next 24 hours, so after some research I think I will buy the 2 set from Costco. I have few questions though: 1. The range is -10c to 60c. However, where I live, temps go down to -30c (or even lower). Will it still work? 2. I would like to be able to identify if someone gets close to the door - don't care about the lawn. Is the image clear enough to see someone's face from 10ft? 3. I want to offload images offsite - to a cloud or at a friend. Can I specify an FTP port different than the standard 21? 4. Can I upload both images and videos at the same time, or must choose on the other? If yes, can I split the upload on 2 different FTPS - snapshots to a remote location and videos locally? Thanks a lot guys!
