Light source behind camera causing night vision issue
habsfan posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Setup some Hikvision DS-2cd2032 and the day time view is fine, however at night, the nightvision is not working. I'm assuming this is because of a light source (sign) behind the camera. Aside from the obvious of moving the camera or shutting off the sign is there anything I can do about this? I am using Blue Iris software. I will attach some pics of the issue and one during the day so you can see the area. -
Light source behind camera causing night vision issue
habsfan replied to habsfan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the replies. Didn't realize it was the IR light blasting of the building. Pointing the camera away from the building has helped quite a bit. I had the issue with 2 cams so one the night vision now comes on and works great. The other in the front is now picking up the whole sign, but the light from the sign is providing enough light to get a decent image even without the night vision coming on. I'll play around with the aspect ratio and BLC this weekend but glad the image is visible at night now. Thanks! -

Thanks for the replies. I only need 2, possibly 3 cameras so a full NVR package probably wouldn't be an option. Too bad because I liked those cameras (and the price). I guess I could just get the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I since it is the same camera? -

I was looking to buy some more of these cameras but did not see them on Costco's site. I did see these: http://www.costco.com/Swann-HD-1080p-SDI-Add-on-Bullet-Camera-2-pk.product.100082861.html I wasn't sure if those are the same or not? I will be running these with Blue Iris software. If these aren't the same/available, is there anything comparable in price/quality? Thanks! -
Does anyone have either of these Avtechs? I'm looking for an indoor camera with audio and the AVN80x seems decent but I'm having trouble finding it though. I think there are 2 on amazon but it doesn't say. One person reviewed the 80x and another the 801 so no idea what they are selling. Anyways, do these work with BI and is the audio and video somewhat decent?

Avtech AVN80x sound in blue iris
habsfan posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Does anyone have experience getting the sound to work in Blue Iris (with the Avtech AVN80x)? I can't seem to get any sound. The camera has 2 way audio and I was able to get the microphone to work with the Eagle Eyes app, but I really wanted to get sound to playback but it doesn't seem to work. I tried having someone stand right next to the camera and talk into it and also had a computer playing some songs with the volume really loud but I still get no sound (via web app or the BI video files). -
I'm looking for a basic, entry level camera system for my house. I'm on the fence as to whether I need 4 or 8 cameras. Perhaps a 4 camera system that I can upgrade to 8 or just buying an 8 camera system to start with. I'm really looking at this to keep an eye on my dogs when they are in the yard and to also have proof that my dogs are tied up and not roaming loose like all the other dogs in the neighborhood. Mine are friendly, but I just don't want to be blamed if something were to happen and their dogs managed to come on my property. I also want to keep an eye on my driveway because last summer I think someone tried to steal my ATV when it was attached to the trailer but when they couldn't get it unsecured, got mad and hit my car with something causing quite a dent. I think it will be nice to have just for general security purposes. I was looking at the Q-see systems, as well as Swann and Defender. Seems like the Q-see is recommended here quite a bit so I found these 2 at Home Depot: http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/203932377?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051&N=5yc1vZc1xvZ1z0yhs7Z1z1110cZ1z0yhs7&R=203932377#.UWHUNZMm2sY http://www.homedepot.com/p/t/203898956?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&storeId=10051&N=5yc1vZc1xvZ1z0yhs7Z1z1110cZ1z0yhs7&R=203898956#.UWHRD5Mm2sY I was looking to spend around $500. As I said, I can probably manage with 4 cameras if needed and can add more later, so if I should just get a better 4 camera system I am open to that.

Avtech AVN80x or AVN801 audio
habsfan replied to habsfan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for the reply. I know they don't have IR, but an led instead so is the night quality OK, or would a small light be required. I'm thinking of putting this in a room that is approximately 15feet x 17feet. I know I'm not going to get fantastic quality at night but I wasn't sure how well a small led would actually work. -
I'm looking to get a camera for my garage that will run with Blue Iris. It is a 1 car garage with a storage area and regular door off to the right. I'm hoping if I mount it in the far left corner, I should be able to capture both doors and all windows but I wasn't sure if a dome or bullet would be best. I would like to keep the cost around 150-200. I can post a pic or detailed dimensions if it will help.

Garage Camera Suggestions

Thanks for the suggestions. I think the motion sensor light is a great idea. It will not only provide for better camera operation/identification, but also act as a deterrent as well. -
Garage Camera Suggestions
habsfan replied to habsfan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Other than when I open the door, lights are always off. As for sunlight coming in, there are 4 windows on the garage door side and 1 by the storage area so quite a bit of light gets in during the day but I would need IR for night. -

I temporarily mounted one outside just to get some test video. I'm in a cast with a broken thumb for a couple more weeks but really wanted to see how these performed so I just ran a wire through my garage and mounted it 7-8' high. I do see the same soft image on the right side like others have reported. Other than that they do look good. Here is a sample. I walked up/down and then just drove down the street and back. Change the quality to 720p for best resolution. I start walking down at :50 and driving around 1:50. -

Well I tried at home and realized the default ip of the cam is 192.0.0.64. So I setup my computer based on those specs and then just went to the browser and changed the ip to the same scheme as my network and it works. Didn't even need to use the ivms software. Cams are up and running in Blue Iris now. Still learning that software and trying to get the optimal settings but so far it looks great. -

No. The IVMS software saw both my cams on its own. Do you have the PCM running the Ives software plugged into the same switch as the cams? Are your cams plugged into one of the switch's POE powered ports (not all ports may be POE powered? Strange...I do have everything on the same switch (Netgear GS110TP). All the ports are POE and when I log into the switch it does indicate it is providing power. I'm at work now and figured I would just give it a shot here and test them out. I can try it again when I get home. I'll be using a different switch (Zyxel ES1100-8P) so maybe I'll have better luck. I'm using Cat 6. Cables were purchased so I didn't crimp them. -

I just got this 2 pack of cameras and downloaded the ivms-4000 but can't seem to get the software to see the cams. I have them plugged into a POE switch but when I click online devices, nothing shows up. Did you have to key in an IP for it to recognize it? -

Has anyone confirmed if these cameras work with Blue Iris?
