  1. I installed one on my home several years ago. It's fabulous. It can detect a cat at 300' in total darkness. The sensitivity is adjustable so you can dial it in to alarm on people and not small animals. I have fourteen arrests, mostly for auto burglary, and about half were the results of a 2 am early warning of that one device. I know they are coming before they get to my neighbor's house. By the time they get to my my house, I'm watching them on video while talking to dispatch. This is intresting to me. I will need to look into these pir devices.
  2. hikvision is on their ftp. you cant get the others that im aware of...you might be nice and try calling support...you have better chances with swann vs lorex. some one might beaable to take a apart a cam and do an eeprom dump...i have the equipment to do that. Im not going to sacrafice a cam for that.
  3. I pinged swann about this...the level 2 tech said they are working on them with no current eta. I think what your going to find is they are going to release many things for this. I think this is their flag ship product. on a side note I found the hikvision version of the nvr of the lorex, and I think I found the same for the swann. Swann puts them in their own case, I discerned this info from various guides and pics I found on their website. here is the hikvision version of the lorex lorex= hikvision ds-7600NI-se/p (7600 series respectively) The swann was a little bit more difficult because they put it in their own case, so its some variation of the same one above except the boards are different. The board in ours matches the board from the 7700 series. There is a 7600 that is similar to ours minus vga and rca out. but the pics of the board show that only having 4G ram....ours has 8 which is what the 7700 has.
  4. I have a connection at Costco that told me they will be coming back after this month. They are not deactivated in their system. Additionally there will be dome cameras as well....they are currently in testing with no ETA
  5. LOL that's the most ridiculous switch I have ever seen. its cheap ill give you that cheaper than the intellinet line. but the power budget sucks, then again its fanless...I don't know what to think about it lol. I want to hate on it but I really cant cause its actually like the perfect size and its quiet. Get a real switch. They are end of life but you cant go wrong cisco 3550...they are loud but they are great and cheap. 100 bux ebay
  6. That matches the specs for their 3MP camera and most other #MP cameras ive seen

    vitamin d

I do have hikvision NVR software that is pretty good. I was going to use vitamin d to tag and then refer back to the nvr software. but i really would like something all in one. using too much hdd space doing it this way. so yes...if the nvr software had smart motion detection or event detection i would switch, Hikvisions pcnvr supports motion detection.
  8. gotta reboot the nvr or put a managed poe switch in between
  9. well that's interesting... Ive also started to expierment with their iVMS PCNVR app. It gives full control of all the camera settings., and I find that interesting, especially since its free. Im going to set it up with 4 cams and check the load. Is their more pixels or just a resize. Additionally if you kick it back down to 1080 does it keep the pixel density of the 3mp @ 2mp res? Maybe I should go back and read maxicons post
  10. switch needs to be a poe switch default ip of cameras are 192.0.0.64 username admin pass 000000 put your computer on the same subnet and then you can access the cameras via the web
  11. So are you saying that there is no difference between the swann/lorex 2.1 MP and the Hik 3mp. and the 2.1 is truly capable of 3MP? this seems to be in direct contrast to what maxicon found and what swann says. Officially swan says the sensor is not the same as the 3MP version?
  12. I would hope that products from acti and those don't have this issue? do they?
  13. You will need to adjust it for your lighting condiditons. You have sharpness, DNR, and NRL to all monkey with. Swinging one way or the other can drastically improve or degrade video
  14. The costco deals are always the best bang for your buck. you would of regrettedthe foscam purchase form what i read.
  15. I have a thecus N5550...same **** it sucks....gave up before I even started. And the features will be lacking even if you get it working.
  16. no, I've never run Blue Iris, we tried a few software solutions and stuck with Milestone the second we found how good the Mobile Client is (for our off site management) They have a free version that works with 8 cameras...huh...interesting.
  17. Was BLC enabled in the camera or in BI. I don't recall seeing that setting in the camera
  18. The e44 an e46 are the cameras I was looking at. They look nice
  19. by default the cameras broadcast the default camera IP is most likely 192.0.0.64 The default login is: UID: admin PWD: 12345 or PWD: 000000 (6 zeros) put that in your browser or what ever ip shows up in the camera finder software. There is a port number too maybe port 8000. you also may need to statically assign an ip to your nic that is on the same subnet. example if the cameras are 192.0.0.64 make your nic 192.0.0.1 subnet 255.255.255.0 you can leave gateway blank
  20. it wasn't needed....but I posted links in my 2nd post you can also download the swann version here ftp://ftp.swann.com/New_FTP/Name/NVR_Temporary/Software/
  21. Accessed nvr via web or local...wrote down ips of camera 1-8, unplugged camera made note of port number on the back of the nvr, plugged into poe switch. configured via a browser based off the ip for the camera number I wrote down
