New IP Cam / Costco System
zikronix replied to newbie2's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This is a cross post of a problem im having that I posted in the camera thread. I have multiple cameras that do this. http://youtu.be/R3cUCLsze84 It also appears that i have the "softness" issue on the right side. Ill contact costco or swann about that. BTW this video crashes VLC! Im working with swann to see what the issue is. 8 Cameras, their ethernet cables, and their nvr. -

Maybe...They provide 60ft of cable, I used "their cables" It would be their nvr not providing enough power, since the switch is built in. Im going to connect them to my poe switch tonight to see if the problem is still there. My guesss is its a sfotware problem more than a hardware problem. Bro...no offense intended...but this thread is about the cameras. Maybe you should take your NVR issue over to the Swann NVR Costco "New IP Cam / Costco System" topic? Just a suggestion, really no offense intended. I would just like to see this topic centered around the Swann\Costco camera 2-pack. I was just thinking about that...That this really belongs over there. However. I am indeed having issues with the camreas. Ill let you guys know what swann says. -

Im on the horn with them now we will see what they say. I shouldnt have to reduce my resolution. I never under sood why these manufactuers dont just throw like an I3 that has the hd and video codec built in to the chip and chipset in these things...blows my mind! Edit: they are sending it up to advanced tech support. They dont want me to touch the cameras. She remoted in and saw it do it. She didnt even address the soft right side. Im going to send this post to the swann tech that responded I have a theory about this. I have the nvr set to take a picture when an event happens. Perhaps. that White flash is the camera taking a picture of the event. It would be interesting to disable that and see if the problem continues! Eitherr way though that doesnt change the softness. and taking pictures shouldnt cause that problem period. -

Yea I asked about that. In order for the hikvision software to interact with the camera, I have to remove them from the DVR and connect them to their own poe switch since swann doesnt give us access to add an ip forward to the dvr. Which isnt a big deal...Ill be messing with it tonight. -

I have not. they have all done it...I just pulled video from all cameras to determine which ones have the softness. I have the orginal 4 that came with the dvr and 4 additional. I dont know which are which. The reset button on the back is it as simple as pressing it? Or do i need to hold it down? -

Is this happening on a Swann\Costco camera? yea..let me see if i can get a video...stand by Q2U here is what im talking about. I have multiple cameras that do this. http://youtu.be/R3cUCLsze84 It also appears that i have the "softness" issue on the right side. Ill contact costco or swann about that. BTW this video crashes VLC! Additionally. If I want to mess with the camera like enabling WDR I will need to disconnect from the DVR and connect the camera to a standalone POE switch correct? I under stand networking, but with no access to add a route to the dvr, the cameras cant communicate back to the hikvision software. -

What started flaking out? Your Swann cam or your Dahua Cam? And also: please be specific, what does "flaking out" mean? Please describe the camera's symptoms. I have a weird issue where the camera flashes. I dont know if its the NVR or the camera. I dont know its just adjusting to things or if mine is flaking out. Im sure i have a video of it -

I couldnt mount mine that way. because of house my house is designed. I took an all weather aluminium box, drilled the holes for the camera (3 mount holes and center pigtail hole (1 1/4")) in the cover of the box. Then mounted the camera to that with m10 bolts. Then I mounted the box portion to the underside of my eve with flex conduit going form the box to a hole in the birdstop. On the back side of the birdstop (in the attic) I placed another connector to preven some jackass from ripping the conduit out. I ran the cat 5 through the conduit into the box and made my connection. I then used security screws to mount the cover to the box! Sounds complicated but it was actually really easy and turned out pretty clean looking. Ill take a picture when i get a chance. -

The ipcamera program doesnt seem to work with this nvr (Nvr8-7200) ive tired various methods and i cant get it to work. which just shoots the enire idea down. And if you have used the current swann nvr view app...that aint going to work Additionally I want to be able to have local access view to the nvr. I have a dvr that i can install the client software on and thats fine. But ideally I want the ability to have a remote screen and mouse in a totally different location. -

Yea Id like to move the display to some where else...its not required but I would like to have access to it. I could use a wired extender but, where its at that may not be a option. Ive used many wireless hdmi extenders, but ive never seen one for usb. The only otherthing ive got to figure out is their remote app...sucks big time across 3G. Works fine on wireless which tells me its an app problem. -

These are what im getting. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/752352-REG/Video_Mount_Products_DVR_LB1_DVR_LB1_DVR_Lockbox_with.html And a UPS. Just in case some wise ass tries to be smart! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/533944-REG/APC_SC450RM1U_SC450RM1U_Smart_UPS_Uninterruptible_Power.html Still looking for a wireless vga/hdmi extender w/usb hopefully that doesnt suck ass -

Mine is in my laundry room. Its noticable. Cant hear it with the door closed. and the locking cabinet im going to put it in also has fans. PC during encoding or laptop running full speed...seems pretty accurate. Its not as loud as a cisco switch, but i wouldnt want it in my living room, Put it that way. -

As I understand it your NVR is set to max out at 2.1MP per camera so I'm not too certain that, even if you are sucessful, you will see any benefit at all. That is also my understanding. Ive got a few things to do but when I get back home I may check into it. -

Im willing to do it, but I have a couple of questions first. Will the camera still be able to talk to the swann NVR? Will the recording quality improve (this is assumed yes), but the question is will the swann nvr take advantage of it...my guess is no! -

What credentials do you possess that entitle you to judge what should be charged for this equipment. You're disrespectful attitude towards people who are trying to earn a living is simply nasty and it is uncalled for. Why on Earth did you feel the need to make it personal. There are a lot of folks here at this forum who sell and install this equipment, and a lot of these folks help you with your questions. You've embarrassed yourself in front of them all zikronix. You do what you think is right, but I'm of the opinion that you should aplogize to all of the hard-working clowns out there. I'm done commenting on this regardless of your reply and I hope you rethink this and do what's right. I was never once disrespectful to them. I even asked them why not do it my self. She said if you know how...you can. I told her I considered it but I wanted to see where they came in, because if the price was right id have them do it. She said well if your going to do it. You would probably want a camera here, here and here. And yes there are alot of people that do sell this equipment, i respect that and them. Not everybody knows how to install it and grandma isnt going to. I realize their prices do reflect install cost, and I under stand that. However adding 300.00 to the cost of a camera for install and a 1 year warranty. Oh and that one year warranty only covers hardware...not the service call which is 99.99 is a little greedy, especially when competing companies offer the same equipment at about half the cost. You say to do what right. So you're telling me you would spend almost 4000.00 for a d1 4 camera system installed. If you wouldnt you're telling me you wouldnt use their camera location suggestions in your own install. You know and I know thats a bunch of BS
