Warning on Firmware Updates - Hikvision/Derytech
zikronix replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Correct you could try tftp method if you have the older and it may work. If it doesn't you'll have to do the one time pass reset via hikvisiom. I don't generally have a problem flashing stuff because I have rom readers, adapters, tracing utilities, boot loader hacking utilities all sorts of off the wall **** most of it acquired during programming ps1 and flashing gold key cards. So sometimes I might fail and brick something and it may be tossed other times its a success -
Warning on Firmware Updates - Hikvision/Derytech

I pulled it out of the box I will gladly look at the other 12 I have you will have to give me a few though Just pulled one out of the box...see the attached. I think its possible that when I flashed and flashed back and reflashed to take the pictures that it puts the picture there.....lets find out Edit: that's exactly what happened. and as far as why buellwinkle posted about it. because I suspect that, he had an older firmware that had the bug in it that I spoke about above. The same type of bug affected me and joeyjoey. and hikvision has since fixed it. which is why I said actually flashing to a newer derytech firmware from an older version could actually cause the same problem that he talked about. Ill flash this one clean from the box! Note: firmware version 5.0.0_130719 Flashed with hikvision 5.0.2_13805 Im going to downgrade to the dery firmware posted see if it goes away if it doesn't then ill tftp and see if it goes away. EDIT: It did see attached Flashed with the firmware buellwinkle provided me 5.0.0_130618 Flashed back to 5.0.2_130805 -
Warning on Firmware Updates - Hikvision/Derytech

Disclaimer and well a little fun: This has been tested on a few cameras and it worked fine...but if it breaks your crap dont come cry to me about it...you knew the risks! No one here is responsible if you break, brick, set fire, punch, smash, stab, destroy, yourself, computer or your camera. The only person responsible is you! Just because it worked for me and others does not mean it will for you. Anytime you flash something its a risk. There will be flashing: Ladies and gentlemen... I've traveled over half our forum to be here tonight. I couldn't get away sooner because I had a camera coming in and I had to see about it. That camera is now flashed and running well. I have many others coming in and this method will be used to flash many of my devices. So, ladies and gentlemen... if I say my guide might work you will agree. You have a great chance here, but bear in mind, you can lose it all if you're not careful. Out of all methods that beg for a chance to flash your camera, maybe one in twenty will work; the rest will be trolls-that's posters trying to get between you and the guide-to get some of the flashing action that ought by rights come to you. Even if you find one that has a simpler guide, and means to flash, they'll maybe know nothing about helping. This is... the way that this works. This method is may not be reliable like no other in this field and that's because its been its been barely tested and tested time and time again. I assure you, whatever the others promise to do, when it comes to the showdown, they won't be there... My History: Im an IT guy that's been in the field for a long time, more importantly im a tinkerer, from Xbox's, phones, remotes, slr cameras, and many other devices. Ive flashed and hacked a many, Ive also broke a few Missing Admin Password history: Ive had this password problem with the earlier hikvision nvr firmware updates. But it was fixed recently. With that being said I set out to see if I could flash this thing and retain the admin password. Step 1: Upgrade to the latest derytech firmware, in this case I was provided V5.0.0 130618, (note: my cameras shipped with a newer version 5.0.0_130719), so I didn't upgrade hoping that the device was running a fixed firmware. *Note regarding step one. If you have an old firmware going from the derytech to a new derytech could actually cause the same problem with the password. Happened on my NVR Step 2: Download the latest hikvision firmware (as of writing 5.0.2_13805) Step 3: Flash via the web interface. I didn't even have to use the TFTP Notes: If everything takes a dump you might be able to recover by tftping the orginal derytech firmware back to the device. You can grab the tftp files from hikvision Europe. -
Warning on Firmware Updates - Hikvision/Derytech
zikronix replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well that explains a lot in the differences from the official derytech and the official hikvision the derytech firmware I just got was V5.0.0 130618 but the derytech camera shipped with V5.0.0 130719 (I swore it said 5.0.2 13805) any way an attempt to flash the camera with the hikvision firmware via tftp worked and kept the password...duplicating now with screen shots....standby -
Inside the Swann NVR16-7200 (16 port nvr from costco)

I took mine back, I couldnt justify the cost, All I needed was the nvr, and I could never recoup the excess cost by selling the cameras -
Inside the Swann NVR16-7200 (16 port nvr from costco)
zikronix posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I ordered the system from Costco here http://www.costco.com/Swann-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-3TB-HDD-and-8-1080p-Cameras.product.100070310.html Based off of looks I believe it to be in the 7700 series family of products from hikvision located here http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=6528 More specifically maybe a 7716SP? The problem with that is the OEM hikvision only has 8 ports. The Costco one has 16, According to buellwinkle hikvision doest have an nvr with 16 poe ports. Swanns model number for this device is nvr16-7200. That coincides with the model number I got that directly from the swann tier II when I was talking to him while doing a firmware update to my nvr8-7200. Any way onward with the first impressions. Disclaimer: Im an IT guy, I am not some kinda camera wizard guru magic man. There are people on this forum that are that. I am giving my first impressions based solely off a "consumer perspective" with a minor technical look. Over all im happy with my swann nvr8 I just wanted some more cameras, and still I believe this to be the best bang for my buck, with a combination of cameras, manufacturer warranty and support, Costco backing. This thing is huge. to get into it you have to remove two screws from the top panel. The hikvision oem have a flipdown front, if I recall correctly. The swann does not have this. The varifocal cameras....are gargantuan. You will not be able to use the dvd spot with a dvd drive WITHOUT modifications, not sure if the firmware supports it anyway (I may experiment with that). It also looks like shorted me a network cable in the master box. Ill deal with swann on that or costco concierge. Processor markings for the NVR16 TMS320 DM8167BCYG 32C1V4W 786 Quick look up looks like a solid chip from TI, Its in their Performace line. Pretty much geared for IP DVR type applications. For comparison the NVR8 uses the DM8165 Looks like we have 8GB of DDR3 (same as the nvr8) and a 3TB WD Green drive vs 2TB in the NVR8. It can handle 8 internal drives for a max of 32TB, and one esata which can also be used for export or recording to. Additionally you can always add an NFS share from your nas for even more space. Swann States that this thing can do full bandwidth 2.1MP on all ports. My guess is that's based on default settings, the default bitrate is 3072 @ full frame. Im not really sure how to test this or where to look to see if that's true. When it powered I had to go through the wizard but the nvr wouldnt stop beeping all channels were in alarm with no link. I connected a camera, still kept beeping, rebooted, kept beeping, did a restore defaults, No beeping. The unit is no where as loud as the NVR8-7200 or lorex variants, which is to be expected The menu options are pretty much the same as the NVR8. I have not fiddled with the front buttons or the jog wheel or any of that. With out further waiting here are the pictures. http://imgur.com/a/iwf8w#0 -

zikronix replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I received the derytech firmware. Assuming its the same version that is installed on my derytech cameras 5.0.2_13805 there are huge differencs between that and the "offical" hikvision 5.0.2_13805. I will have to wait to get home to verify 100% -
Warning on Firmware Updates - Hikvision/Derytech
zikronix replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im aware of this...I know the cameras are derytech. I was just verifying that the issue will exist. Im willing to experiment and try to TFTP the firmware and see what happens. Ideally what I want to see is if I tftp the official firmware (my derytech came with the same build number as the lates hikvision) will the admin pass stay or change. If I do it through the web...will it stay or change. If it changes and i email hikvision for the master, then I could change it back but does it stick at that point in time. It maybe going from one version to another that causes the problem. I had a similar problem with my nvr, until the last update which worked perfectly. -

does this affect the ones sold by wrightwood wrightwood cameras are derytech I know this. Just confirming. Im ok with this, The question I have is if we update the firmware, and do a hikvison one time reset, will that allow us to change the admin password, forever? -

Lorex 8-channel NVR with 6 1080p cams @Costco for $999.99
zikronix replied to lamsao's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Not all in one go. Lorex refused to give me a ftp or telnet password, when I went to a higher tech support level. I got an email from the tech support in Spain, who told me they didn't have them. On the Hik cams, the telnet and FTP logins are the same as the admin login, if I recall correctly. I don't know about on the NVR. Supposidly the telnet password is "unique" per box -

Just to be clear the nvr will run out of bandwidth really quickly if these cameras are running at 3mp -

Have that box fan is noisy I also just upgraded to the 21x24 -
If your building your own NVR I have a couple of questions. 1) Is there an alarm input output board availaible? Ive found a few on the net but I cant get a definitive answer of how and if they will work. 2) Do any of the products, support alarm input and outputs? 3) Where does a person purchase said item and is there one recommended over the other ? I have been unsuccessful with my google-fu

zikronix replied to pnyxxpress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Maybe but remember the firmware only differs by three bytes. That's coming from some where else. I'm assuming that 3 bytes is the time zone setting when I flashed the Chinese I got the time zone of China, when I flashed the US I got some other zone -

It's panning that becomes the issue. There is a flip image but as soon as you approach the z axis it goes crooked -

no doubt this is exactly what is going on. Like I said, Ill try to query that jp1 see if there is anything on it or if it is truly the alarm and audio input....if it is then back to square one! Im not about to start jtag'ing a camera. If that JP1 doesn't provide then im out! LOL -
Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I
zikronix replied to pnyxxpress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Before, tftp, and after After update it still wont take the Chinese version via the web, language is still all in English, time zone changes to china though, which is what im guessing the 3 byte difference is. Additionally the camera doesn't reboot after tftp like the instructions say. I also didn't have a power adapter everything was done via POE There is a 4pin JP1 header on this swann dome, with out doing the research I suspect this could be the interface for modifying read only parameters. Much like I used to do with remote control hacking. The traces from the JP1 do go to at least one of the chips. It could simply be the alarm and audio input, IDK I could be totally wrong, and I wont know until I wire up my tty adapter to it and sniff it. Anyway Im don't for today. you all have a Nice weekend. I hope this helps. -

zikronix replied to pnyxxpress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
correct which is pretty much inline with what I said above. Im sure the hardware is "identical" and it is a value flashed in the ROM of the device. In telnet there is an option under set called OPTIND with a value of 1 on a us cam. I tired setting this to 2 with no luck, not even sure that's the option but hey its worth trying! Going to look for jumpers, or bridged and un bridged solder points. -

It took it. Everything is still in English however... pictures coming. stand by It did not convert the camera to Chinese, it still will not take the Chinese firmware update via the web, It also does not flip the bit to english
