  1. Acti says i7 3770 for 9 cams. Even up to 12 cams. As I said before the Swann was a stop gap...do it now. Now that's up I can put the system in I want to. The Acti price looks good. But it's their performance I want to see. I think the Swann is great for the money. But I rather have domes.
  2. Cykick... leaves no stains. Mixed 2oz per gallon
  3. That's why I actually bug spray around my cameras. I have no issues with spiders or bugs. Just gotta be aware that if you get it on the lens you need to wipe it off
  4. Well I guess the lorex cams will be going back!...That is absolutely 100% useless! My bullets are mounted under my eves, I thought about mounting these domes to the wall. Lorex, shows that it can be mounted to the wall in their product guide. I could mount them under the eves like the bullets. But they would be at a slant....and unless theres a way to adjust them then that's no good. With that being said...when do you think youll look at the acti e74. I don't want to have to use that massive collar for flush mounting (pmax-1003) I guess I could also use the L-type mount
  5. You maybe able to tell from my pics here viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35804 I don't have the source pics or the lorex any more
  6. Yes and so does this one http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=7290 which is essentially the lorex NVR
  7. Can you take pics of the dome? the back the front top etc... here is the lorex version http://www.lorextechnology.com/security-cameras/Dome-security-camera-for-HD-DVR/1800.p hik http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=7330 you can see on the lorex there is a hik custom part number....interesting also can you do some night and low light shots, mixed light...I want to see how the WDR plays and night plays. It seems most people dont like IR domes. This is really going to be the deciding factor for me if I return the swann system, and run BI, exacq, or milestone with these lorex cams if it turn out to be flashed at 3MP and be kick ass then awesome. If I sent you one would you test it or do you have access to one? Or if I end up going with the acti domes and running their software. Im really curious on the acti domes if I really need that mounting collar to flush mount them. I WILL NOT cut holes that big in my stucco
  8. One could assume that. I have some on order so once they get here ill let you know
  9. Awesome ! Just ordered the usb to serial adapter like the one in the pic to try this I have the swann version ...it has a serial port yay for me
  10. yea thats my problem. I want gig/poe+/24port/fnaless or quiet/managed all for under 300.00 HA! not happening
  11. Are you going to do the lorex domes as well?
  12. Check out this thread viewtopic.php?p=207973#p207973
  13. It's unique per device. It's a hash of your serial number.
  14. If noise isn't a concern you can pick up a Cisco 3550 24 port Poe for about 120 with a 1 year warranty
  15. For that cost I'd spend the money on a eol cisco product or a sb200-24p it's got 12 Poe, it's fan less, it's also 300.00 but hey it's managed
  16. i dind tthink that zyxel is managed? I love my cisco stuff, but i hate trouble shooting it or fixing others peoples routing and switching issues.

    Sunell ?

ok im interested...where does one get pricing for their line. Looks like its all china and nothing here in the states or on alibaba
  18. Me too. Can't wait to see what the review finds on the said ACTi domes. I may replace my swann with these. so we will have to see. I would also like to see what they come with and if they can be mounted with out the mounting ring. I am not overly excited about cutting holes in my stucco that are quite sizable!
  19. I know exactly what your talking about. I have a huge issue when I see these "crap" switches posted. I deal with networks like you...Im stuck in the circular problem of. I want a small compact gigabit poe quiet switch that will fit in my dvr lock box that's more than 8 ports at full poe spec. Which isn't going to happen for anything remotely cheap!

    Standalone NVRs

That could be a place he could goto if he was looking for shifty sellers of elevator cameras. Or they could visit those manufactuers sites, instead of some shifty spammer who plugs their own site.
  21. POE switches can be expensive and individual injectors are expensive. You could put 120W power supply on this and get POE+. Im not saying this is the right product to buy, that i support it or that I think the op should spend their money on a better product like a cisco 3550....but I get it from a cost/retrofit/network standpoint.
  22. cool the e74 is what i was thinking about. im curious if it will be really that much better than these hik bullets and domes. very interested in its WDR and and ir / low light performance.
  23. Yes that should work fine Cheaper here http://www.amazon.com/WS-POE-8-ENC-Multi-Passive-Injector-devices/dp/B0075F7F2O/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1369258267&sr=1-4&keywords=16+port+poe+injector
  24. Yes that should work fine
  25. So what does this all mean in the end? From the sounds of what im reading it sounds like the "official hikvision 3mp" maybe using a 16x9 sensor and when in 3MP mode, doesnt actually deliver 3MP. And that the possiblity of the swann cameras and the offical 3MP being the same is "highly likely" So back to that question...is their any real world benefit to the flashing of the firmware, or would it do more harm than good. I was thinking of maybe getting the acti cameras instead....im not sure that would be worth the cost difference, its soundling like these hik cameras are the best "bang for the buck" in the low to medium budget home application. What dome will you be getting. Is it the equillivent of the lorex dome?
