I know I have seen this. but i know some nvrs, you can connect an analog camera to the system. Here is how i seem to recall it working. Analog DVR controls cameras and audio records to ip NVR that has ip cams on it. I know im not imagining this. Can some one go over this with me.

I hope the reduction happens!. I got rid of the 8 port I had for the 16 port. And its great. Swann is great I love it. And I could flash the cameras to get 3mp out of my kit. For all that are interested, the reduced size 16ch is landing on the 15th. Will be a little while before it's listed though. Hits costco on the 15th...or becomes a swann product on the 15th? 15th of the month or next month? Is it loud as hell like the 8 channel. The 16 is pretty quiet! so....this should be it. http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9267 http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013110703094211054.pdf Hikvision list it as 80Mbps in but the current 16 channel is like 130Mbps or something along those lines. Do you know what the max input of the new 16 channel will be? -

I remember when you did that investigation. The question is, if you kick it back to 2MP do you get the FOV back, one these newer cameras? -

cam across this. http://www.costco.com/Swann-1080p-HD-IP-Vari-Focal-Dome-Camera.product.100070462.html If it can be flashed to be 3MP, and if its a 3 axis...it might be a cheap competitor to the acti cameras ? looks to be the x55 series perhaps...DS-2CD7255F-ei Sources: http://www.hikvision.com/en/Press-Release-details.asp?id=2367 http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=6898 http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013032117225623437.pdf

Missed the swann system at costco This Lorex is coming
zikronix posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
To me it looks like an identical system...but i dont know. It will be online only. Should be there May 01, their may be additional cameras available. Its supposed to be listed at 849.00. I think swann support is better, potentially. If it comes with the concierge and 3 year like the Swann then that may be a non issue. according to lorex its 3.0mp and they have wdr enabled by default. so...maybe they arent restricted like they are on the swann? System http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-Full-HD-PoE-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-Hard-Drive-and-4-HD-1080p-Cameras.product.100035609.html Extra Cameras http://www.costco.com/Lorex-HD-1080p-IndoorOutdoor-Night-Vision-2-Pack-IP-Bullet-Cameras.product.100043751.html http://www.lorextechnology.com/Security+camera+system+Wireless+camera+system/Security+NVR+with+IP+cameras/prod360017.p?skuId=LNR282C4B Some things to think about if you have the swann and are considering the lorex. First some things we know. COMMON: The cameras appear to be the same The interface of the DVR is similar They both have loud fan noise Carrier level port blocking for the mobile app is an issue (can be fixed by changing the RTSP port to something other than 554) Both sold at Costco Most features available on both NVR, Such as email on motion, etc Currently cant use any other ip camera with either system (Not confirmed as it does support ONVIF) PROS SWANN: Swann has a 3 year warranty and concierge support 24/7 Tech support via phone or email Alarm Ports Rumored 240FPS Cameras can be flashed, used with third party apps and are available for purchase Supports PTZ Cameras, supposedly can be used on the lan side. CONS SWANN: Stock Mobile app blows (you can use the HikVision app which is awesome, its just like the lorex app) 60ft ethernet cables Some cameras might have a soft right side. Fan Noise PROS LOREX: 50.00 cheaper than the swann was (I think) Stock mobile app looks better (Direct rip of the HikVision app) 100 ft cables Cameras might be a different batch and may NOT have the soft right side. CONS LOREX: Only a 2 Year warranty No Alarm inputs or outputs Doesnt support PTZ No Extra cameras availaible (at the time of writing) FAN Noise 120 FPS confirmed Cameras may not be able to be used with 3rd party apps RS485 or any other alarm input is not compatible, alarms cannot be connected (Confirmed) Currently there are no plans for an IP NETWORK PTZ type camera for this system. zikronix replied to pnyxxpress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im having an issue with a swann camera that i updated via tftp...one of the resolution options disappeared. Trying to figure out what went wrong. What resolution went away? Apparently im on drugs...because I swore it said 704*576 in the drop down but they all say 704*480 HOWEVER with that being said. I have 4 of the 3MP swann cameras (825 series) and they have a different FOV than the 2.1@ 3mp. they also have a different FOV than the 2.1 @ native. And If I kick the 825 to 2.1 the FOV doesnt change! -

Swann NVR8-7200 - Cameras cutting in an out
zikronix replied to Robbrageous's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
it sounds like when you do full screen its auto switching after 5 seconds, and happens to cycle to a port that no camera is on. its important to know that the swtich on the back of the nvr isn't numbered like a traditional switch...most switches are labeled like this 1357 2468 the swann is labeled 1234 5678 So lets say you plugged the 4 cameras into 1 5 2 and 6 When the screen cycles your going to see feed on 1 then 2...and then nothing until it gets to 5 and 6 then nothing till it gets to 1....if that makes sense Check it out. -
