is that coming with one of there 12mm lens installed? i have not gotten around to ordering one. I was thinking its cheap enough to try it. If i want to dig i could always move the cam. but who wants to do that...

yeah. i think this is part of my fear. so where do you get a 1/2.5 lense? worth trying both. also never went higher then 12mm before other then on a box cam. so what is the physical size limitation if any on a mini bullet.

i have the hik/costco which is a hikvision DS-2CD2032-I. where can i get a 12mm fixed lens for these cameras. of course hik will not sell/support a lens change. also what is the biggest lens you can mount in these mini bullets? looking to go 110 ft with a fov of 20-40 feet, which puts me at 12-16mm.

ok...forget half of what i said...lol. looks like your spec sheet is diffent then whats on the hik webpage. i know they both came from hik but wtf. i dont know why they release specs that are inaccurate. so now you have to guess which is truth. here is the one on there web page: http://www.hikvision.com/en/Products_show.asp?id=7741&showid=1 looks like a good cam. wonder how the new ir would do with reading plates.

IR on the hikvision webpage is listed as 50m. vendors allways state that its more. from my understanding there is 2 mesurments. one with zero light and one with low lighting. I think the vendor gives you the 2nd one. also...power hungry? 9W with IR on. not that its that much more. but just make sure the POE can suport that. some max out at 7.5 per port.

the board i have supports raid so i am all set there. just have not gotten that far and undecided on what raid i want to use. the HD is a ST3000DM001. i did wonder about plate density but could not find any info. but i could not pass up the price i got so what the..... i think future drives may be WD Black. hitachi would be nice but $$$.

been awhile since i checked this thrad. so here is what i have gone with. Intel i7-3770 Ivy Bridge CORSAIR 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 ASRock Z77 Extreme4 3TB seagate barracuda sata III (programs and data) 3TB seagate barracuda sata III (IP camera's) AZZA Solano 1000R CSAZ-1000R Full Tower Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit so i have 6 cams running at 3mp 15fps on blue iris with direct to disk. using 26% cpu power max. ram never gone over 4gig so far with other things running too. i found some improvement using a dedicated hard drive for ip cameras. also constant write to disk will result in a failed drive sooner. would be nice if that drive did not have anything else on it. took about a week before i was able to use the gigabyte up link on my router. before that i did notice that using 10/100 killed my network speed on the pc. i was hitting 80-90% just running and viewing cams. the case i recommend. has room for 8 drives which keeps up with the board options and allows to use the extra processing power to run a media server (still working on that). also has 5 fans. each hard drive bay has its own fans. everything stays cool. so far happy with the i7. I would go with at least 8gigs of memory and that would be over kill. deff 7200 rpm drives and splitting the load on them.

I will try that tonight. got the file directly from hik ftp. wonder if i have the correct version/ release. i dont see much difference at all in settings. no white balance at all. no intelligent ir. can you grab a screen shot? i did notice the 15 fps limitation. also...something weird. blue iris would have difficulty at anything above a 4096 bitrate. would freeze up, disconnect from the cam, and have data corruption. now i can go upto 16384 no problem.

do you know what happened to White Balance in this version? used to have auto and 1 other setting. now all it has is manual.

I've been using the Vitamin D trial version on my Mac Mini 2.3ghz dual core. I'm only using it on our iBaby wireless camera, so only doing 320 x 240. Unlike what you're experiencing, after I view the clips, they are still all there until I delete them. I do like their object detection. Maybe I don't understand it correctly, but isn't it still based on pixel change? For example, there is a condition you can change as to ignoring an object ranging from 30 to 70 pixels. I tried this with the iBaby cam and it sort of worked 75% of the time, as it ignored our miniature poodles but detected my wife and daughter when they were walking around with the dogs. i found out they auto delete after 24 hours. according to tech support. not sure if that happens with yours? but mine still randomly delete before then. anyway. video analytics still uses pixel change too. just does it alot more intelligently. it can detect light and color change. compare it to known objects etc.....it can go on from there but i think you get the point. options could be endless depending on how crazy you want to get. with most the motion detection in cameras now all it does is say...yeah there was xx pixels that changed. xx pixles could be grouped together to form an object...or they could be spread out over the whole scene to form "noise".

I called them few days ago. they are just starting to support ip cams. you need there encoder for 3rd party and there software comes with it. $1600 for there 4 camera encoder. at that price my security system is going to be the most expensive thing i have for them to steal

I did see that and used the trial version. The motion detection has more control then the nvr software i am using now but still is based on pixel change. i would really like something that can detect objects and such. BI has a version of object detect - it comes selected by default on the motion detect screen. How well it will work for your situation would have to be tested, but I found that it started recording when something moved across the field of view, but when I picked up the camera and moved it around, it wouldn't detect that as motion. interesting. I will have to do some testing on that. especially at night with ir. thanks for the heads up.

looking for event detection/ basic video analytics. There motion detection is based on pixel change. event detection can tell the difference of a person, car, etc from scene change and wind movement.

this is what got back from tec support. Currently the maximum resolution supported is 1280, though this will be updated in the future anyone have a work around. or had good results using 2 different programs. or know of any other event detection software?

nice. now i wonder if this will hold true with the lorex dome.
