Just got my cams yesterday and been playing around with them. I am just moving to an IP system so a little unfamiliar with the settings. I think that i have alot of noise in the stream. looks like a lot of pixel change when you digital zoom or in the moving bushes. what setting work for you? Bitrate, frame interval etc. BTW i did flash and am set to 2048x1536. -
Just wanted to see what others come across when trying to secure there PC NVR server from physical theft. some of those cable locks look flimsy. enclosures can be hot or expensive. I have seen some screwed to the floor or had a thick cable through the case..lol. but whatever works. Maybe a dummy PC that has a big sign on it that says surveillance system

I was going to ask that. Can u record the same stream to 2 diffrent hdd / locations at the same time. Maybe just the substream tobthe 2 location?

2-3 MP Cam with IR ?? for those that don't drive a BMW
spadjen posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Looking for anyone that has had good luck or results with an off brand or re branded dome (or bullet) cam that has IR around 2-3mp . of course you can spend the money for oem and get something good. But for those of use that have not won the powerball we sometimes need to venture into the unknown. anyway. what have you tried that has worked well for you? -

I ordered 4 of the Swann from costco, should be here tues. got it in just in time. I was thinking of going ATCI for at least 1 cam for the software. I need a good one at the end of the drive for LP. I will like to stay at $200 for the others but need IR. I am kinda surprised at the costco move. Swann is alittle confusing rite now and probably in transition. they sell a 8 channel NVR with 4 cams but they dont sell the cams? Only place you could get them was costco. swann did not even sell them. they must be coming back? or they had some sort of falling out. Never did know that about B.M.W. -

i like ACTi too. but i need 8-10 and they add up quick. I was never referencing bang for buck. I think for what you pay for ACTi you are diffidently getting a good deal and is worth it. I am just looking for more bang for the same buck or at least something to get started with. if i spend the money i wanted to on a cctv system i would have nothing left for them to steal but yes...i think that in the future when the budget allows i will be getting ACTi. I have my eye on 2 of them now. -

i dont know much about there programming architecture. But if it was 64 bit and utilized more ram and systems resources it would be less likely that it would have to re-crunch the same data. -

Yeah but they are no longer selling them without the NVR? Can't find another source for them yet. -

not a 100% since i have not used it. My cams dont come until tomorrow. I believe IVMS 4200 is just a video management interface. I think you need to download and install IVMS 2000 on to the pc your using as your server. configure that then go back to IVMS 4200 and input the server info. -

yeah you may be rite. dont really know if putting the os and nvr software on a ssd would help. i could always get 2 WD Black drives. 1 dedicated to just read and write for camera streams. or may be possible to have the cams split on 2 different drives splitting the load keeping the drives cooler too? now my head is spinning

IDK...lol. Ultimate was only $10 more. i scaled the 16 gigs back from 32 I figure if i want to upgrade to 32 and set up a virtual drive to put a cash file or something. so wile i might be able to get away with 8 i wanted dual Chanel so i went 16. dont want a 4gig chip. But yes. the system will be up 24/7 and thought it would have not benefit with the boot up. but do you think putting the os and the NVR program on it would speed things up and have the hdd dedicated to writes on the video feed?
