Axis P3367-VE 2TB NAS Limit
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
So after some back and forth with Axis tech support guy it turns out what he told me was not entirely correct. The P3367-VE will record to a large disk but it can only manage files automatically, that is using the "delete files older than" parameter, that are under 52 weeks old. So in order to clean up my files, I only needed to delete the files older than 52 weeks (which weren't very many in this case) and then the camera deleted the rest according to that parameter. This seems like a bug to me, but they wouldn't admit that. Also, I am able to do a multiple selection of files using the control key on a single pages (20 files per page), but I can't select multiple pages of files which is what I really wanted to do. -Tom -
I have a P3367-VE that has been recording to both it's SD card as well as a NAS for 9 months or so. There are 34,000 files according to the camera recordings UI on the NAS. I want to clean them up, essentially delete them all. In order to delete files in the UI you have to select them one at a time (no, there is no multi-select) and click delete. It takes about 1 full minute for the file to delete and the list to be redisplayed. It would take weeks or months to delete them this way. So, I deleted the files directly from the NAS. But now the camera still sees the files, and while I can still delete the reference to it on the camera it still takes the same amount of time. I also set the parameter that says "delete files older than" to a small time (1 day) but nothing changed. So I opened a case with Axis support asking them how I can delete them (in my lifetime). The answer I got back surprises me and I don't know if this is just a junior tech not knowing what he is talking about or what.... He claims:"I checked the server report and found that the network share is 2.7TBytes. Our cameras support only 2TBytes and for this reason the camera can't delete old recordings." First, this just seems stupid. Given that 3-4 TB single disks are prevalent and that NASs often have many many TB of space (petabytes even) how short sighted could Axis engineers have been? Second, the fact that the files don't exist (any longer) on the NAS this just seems like a bug. And third, setting "delete files older than" apparently doesn't work and is also a bug. Not to mention the fact that he says the camera can't delete old files, but it DOES delete them, just way too slowly! Has anyone else encountered this? Tom

Axis - Images, videos, messages in SMS not working
tome9999 posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am trying to send sms (text) messages for events off my Axis (p3367) camera as well as videos and/or images. I am on AT&T and so I try +1XXXYYYZZZZ@txt.att.net (for SMS), or +1XXXYYYZZZZ@mms.att.net (for images/video). I cannot get images or video at all. The text messages seems to be garbled, I can only read one word of the subject line, the rest of the subject and all of the message body are gibberish. I assume it is a text encoding issue between the Axis and the ATT message gateway. I wonder if the Axis sending UTF-8 encoding and if there is a way to change what it sends? Has anyone had success with this on ATT at all? -
How do I view Axis camera on iphone
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I tried this last night on my iPhone while home (with Wi-Fi turned off). I viewed the recorded video from my P3367 using a weak LTE signal. The picture was fine. There was no difference between the top half and the lower half. However, the video did lag. I would say that I see one second of video for every two seconds of real time. At worst, one second of video every three seconds. I would say it lagged about 75% of the time that I was watching the recorded video. I don't think it is due to my ability to "send' the video as I can watch recorded video from work (using ACC) without any lag. Your event that records video, is the Stream Profile set to save the video using the "Quality" profile or something else? I contacted EyeSpyFx and am pleased to say they very promptly responded (within a couple hours) and acknowledged there is a memory limitation in the app that is causing my issue and they said they would fix it in the next release. If I want to apply a bandaid I can record at a lower resolution... -
How do I view Axis camera on iphone

No offense taken. I updated the app on my ipad this morning and had to end up deleting the app from the ipad and reinstalling it to get it work again. It wouldn't log me in and run. It knew my userid and stuff it just wouldn't connect. After removing the app and having it get my login info again it worked. Just for fun I tried the update on my phone but didn't have this problem. It worked ok after the update. By the way, I have an issue with this application (both ipad and iphone) when viewing recorded videos done by the P3367-VE. I am recording using the built-in "Quality" stream profile. When I view recorded videos with this app, the lower half of the frame is just a smear of vertical lines. The upper half of the frame is fine. Anyone else with a P3367 that can verify this issue? -

I would definitely discourage you from clicking record while in the app. If you do you will likely end up with a ACC_Manual process running on your camera and as far as I know (according to Axis support) the only way to get rid of it is to reset to factory defaults. I really suspect there is a way to get to the kernel on the box (I think they run Linux) and kill that process but they wouldn't tell me how. Perhaps some hacking will be need to be done soon... The iphone 5 may indeed help a bit due to more processing/graphics power and also LTE if you are using it over cell network like I am.... -
Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
They have two 5mp sensors. Each one ultimately produces 3.1mp (they combine pixel sites on the sensor to get more light - a sort of down-sampling). This technique has been used on dslrs in the past to get better noise and low light characteristics. If you have a day and night you can only use one or the other. If you have two day, or two night, you can combine them and you have 6.2mp. -
Under Setup menu -> System Options -> Maintenance -> Calibrate (calibrate focus and zoom) Have you tried that?

Yes it was hilarious getting hundreds of images I have a DSC security system in the house. The PIR sensors (a different model) have always been quite reliable, except that we learned that mylar balloons floating around set them off By the way, Newegg has these for $75. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA1ZC0K70313&nm_mc=OTC-Froogle8&cm_mmc=OTC-Froogle8-_-Surveillance%20-%20Home%20Safety%20%26%20Security-_-DSC-_-9SIA1ZC0K70313 -
Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367

I don't think it is a translation issue. I think what they are doing is using 5mp sensors but only using 3.1mp per sensor to improve light capture. The delivered image is either 3.1 or (2 X 3.1)=6.2 according to the D15 user manual. So, if you have a DSec-Night, you have either a 3.1mp color OR 3.1mp B&W image. The manual is quite clear about it, so if it is a translation issue then they really went out of their way to confuse! Go to http://www.mobotix.com/other/Products/Cameras/DualDome-D15 and click on the second icon on the top right that looks like a book with a camera on it. Several places throughout this manual they talk about it including the Forward, the section "5-Megapixel Image Sensor Technology" and 1.1.2 "Advantages And New Features", among others. From section 1.1.2: "Due to technical reasons, the maximum size at which the images of a D15D sensor can be displayed is 3.1 megapixels (live or recorded). Despite this, the D15D outperforms the previous D14D model and other dome cameras on the market in many respects" -
Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hmm, I was afraid of that. I need 50', more would be better. So I would have to add another PIR sensor, assuming that is possible. I have been looking at Mobotix's information today. I find their information to be confusing and intentionally misleading. Their "6mp camera's" are NOT, they are 3mp and through the power of marketing they magically become 6mp because you can combine two images. Unless, of course you want the camera to work in low light, then you have to have a night sensor and, in my case, have both pointing to the same scene and get one 3mp image at any given time. I do like the fact that they have built in audio, and PIR. But 30ft will only do part of what I want and that comes at a $600 premium compared to the Axis.... -
That's great, but they have a more fundamental problem. They had better improve the motion sensing otherwise my camera will be tracking the sun moving behind clouds, lightning flashes, cars lights out of frame at night, and several other non-motion events.

Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367

Hmm you have a good point. I was considering a speaker and mic and now PIR.... I could put the 3367 at a different location, or return/sell it.... I may have to look at the Mobotix again... Thanks ps: Any idea what kind of distance the PIR on the Mobotix can detect to? -
Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well, I hoped you were wrong, while knowing all along you were right. This evening a thunderstorm was thoroughly convincing. I got a text message (and recording) with every flash of lightning. Earlier today the sun coming and going behind clouds triggered it, Sigh. I guess you gets what you pays for, as they say. There are detection algorithms that can work fine outdoors, it just isn't this one! Oh well. So will a PIR be fooled by moving trees or not? Any suggestions on which ones to use? Thanks for the info you sent on streams as well... -
Questions/observations configuring Axis P3367
tome9999 replied to tome9999's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Perfection? No. Who said anything about perfection? Axis support got back with me and said the problem is with the mobile app. When you click record in live view in the app it starts an ACC_Manual event that doesn't get removed until the app removes it. They said they would discuss the problem with the Eyespyfx and see if they could do something different. You are thinking about a different user that got one of each (as it were)...
