Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ok, check that DHCP box and put the IP/MAC address in your router, just how you did with the cameras. -
Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Did not see that. Found it/ and unchecked it.. I think this is what we need to uncheck once we control the IP addresses ourself. I unchecked it just now, I shall see what happens. [update] Tested it. I see the time is drifting now on the cameras. I put it back, time is synced again. On my system, one of my cameras did what yours did. It disconnected, then reconnected, saw it in the log. During a motion detection of that same camera, I noticed that the camera name and text location had moved, then it moved back. This one camera is connected over power line networking, it isn't 100% reliable and I have noticed video stutters, so this is ok for me. -
Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks for that diagram. For the NVR, from your diagram, do you have the DHCP disabled? and static TCP/IP address entered? What about the gateway IP? For mine, I have DHCP enabled in the NVR. This allows the IP address to be retrieved from the DHCP server in your router, the same as your cameras are operating. Enter a reserved IP/MAC just like you did with the camera's IPs. By using DHCP, the default gateway and dns information also get populated in the clients. I think this is your issue with the gateway/dns. Can you verify how you have this part configured? -
Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just saw this in a Hikvision manual. Note: If you check the Synchronize IP Camera checkbox, the default settings of the NVR for the IP camera is applied to the added camera. So, I'll try disabling that later and see what happens. -
Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can you draw a pic of your network configuration, so I can check how you have everything connected. All cameras powered from the NVR-POE network, or using external power on the camera that has this problem? Do you have the standard Lorex firmware on all your cameras and nvr? It sounds like you are getting a camera disconnect and that is why the NVR forces it to the funny 172. IP address. If I disconnect a camera from a NVR-POE port and plug into another port or another part of my network, the NVR wants to reconfigure it, then the camera gets its IP address from the dhcp, then I have to reconfigured the camera via the NVR. But as long as the camera is plugged into the same NVR-POE port or is elsewhere on your LAN, the config should stay the same. The is an option in the NVR for 'Syncronize IP Camera', I'm not sure what this does yet. -

3MP Hikvision vs. 1080P Swann/Lorex
JoeyJoey replied to buellwinkle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Make sure that the activex plug is up to date, remove the old version or just clear it out, try a different browser. You weren't clear if you tried the reset button. You can also use direct calls to update params, see here. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=35960 -

Have you tried the reset button or resetting to defaults? What about any network settings such as dhcp enabling? -

Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Good stuff! The POE switches are intelligent in the NVR, they don't supply power to devices that can't use them. I wouldn't hold our breath of ever getting a NVR firmware update to use a higher resolution camera. I'm happy with the 1080p resolution. I might be ordering a Hikvision camera with a 12mm lens and I'll try to get that working next with the Lorex NVR. -
Configuring: Lorex LNR282C4B (LNR280) with motion detection
JoeyJoey replied to JoeyJoey's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hope this helps. I also added a NAS share to the Lorex NVR and it allowed me to configure it for mirroring, so the motion detection videos are written both to the NVR drive and an external NAS drive. For this to work, you go to the advanced schedule setting of the camera and select mirror record. See here. -

I thought this might help others in getting the stand alone Lorex/Hikvision/Swann cameras recording to an external NAS device. The cameras can record to the NAS at the same as the NVR recording, this can you give you data redundancy. I tested this with continuous recording to both devices. See the descriptions of each jpg. -

I recommend you enable DHCP on the cameras and set up reserved DHCP server IP addresses in your router. Makes everything easier. viewtopic.php?p=220921#p220921 -

They should make them not require the plug ins. I use a Chromebook and Linux. Reading other sections on here, that plugin opens in a security hole. -

The review about the mac compatibility is kinda true. No reason to require a plug in or an activex component. -
Lorex 1080P NVR from Costco (NVR firmware Question)
JoeyJoey replied to evnldr's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I wonder if the Lorex = Swann = Hikvision protocols, I'm guessing they do and are just renamed. Are you using the hikvision firmware in the NVR and all the cameras? Can you edit the cameras in the camera management section of the web admin, add/delete cameras in the Hikvision NVR version of the firmware? In the Lorex version it is for display only, I have to do this via their windows app or on the local UI with a monitor connected. Can you post some images of the Hikvision config web pages? -

I took apart the Lorex NVR280, there isn't a port like the one pictured in the Swann. But there are two tiny ports, anyone know the pin outs of these, if they are serial ports? -

Optimizing Video Settings for Mobile Viewing
JoeyJoey replied to SB_Jim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The settings of constant, greys out the quality, as it doesn't apply. The quality is based on the bit rate you select yourself. I have an issue with the NVR where sometimes you go to a setting, and it is wrong, you have to go to another page, then come back, then it looks right. These settings in the camera are being configured by the NVR, it communicates often. The i frame is not set by the Lorex NVR though. -

The Hikvision iVMS4500 is an app for Android/iOS, people on here have said its better than the Swann app. It has varied frame rates, as the app changes those in the NVR, main stream and sub stream.
