  1. Weird stuff.... I set the Chinese Hikvision to manual config as a Hikvision, left it over night, online. After a few reboots, all is good.
  2. What is the firmware version # that is in the NVRs similar to the Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/P ? The Swann and the Lorex LNR280. thanks
  3. After updating the Lorex NVR 280 to the latest 2.3.8 firmware, the Hikvision Chinese camera I have isn't usable at the moment. Looking in the direct local config screens (not via the web page), I can see that it does indeed see the camera, it reports the model/serial/firmware version, but doesn't quite work. If I set it to use custom1, it does show up, but not configurable. I'm going to see if I put the latest 5.1.2 Chinese on the camera, to see what happens. All my other cameras use the English 5.1.2
  4. Well, I had just had some fun. Updating to this version almost bricked the NVR. I had to use the tftp method to perform a firmware recovery, never done that on an NVR before. Here is something new that works in the NVR code, being able to edit the camera settings. But... one issue I have now, trying to figure out it. A single Chinese sourced (from a US store) Hikvision camera isn't being detected by the NVR, can't add it manually, hmm. Working on it.
  5. Just tried this update, it fails at 80% updating.
  6. ftp://ftp.hikvisionusa.com/Hikvision%20DVR%20Firmware/DS-76xxNI-SE(P)/to US FTP V 2.3.8 140513 is out to fix the SSL issues.
  7. The info on W right woo d's site is a little confusing regarding the Hikvision NVR. It lists it as model: DS-7608NI-SE/P (40Mbps input) but it is really a DS-7604NI-SE/P (20 Mbps input) Besides the difference in the number of POE ports, from 8 down to 4, a more important difference is that the DS-7604NI-SE/P has a much lower camera data rate capability. See the differences here: http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013111203244068223.pdf The model number listed should be updated. The N e llllly site lists the DS-7608NI-SE/P. These NVRs come with no HD, but its easy to add either one or two HDs.
  8. After looking at this today, for some reason the LorexNVR is unable to see the Hikvision camera, even after adding it manually. The Lorex cameras had firmware v5.0.0, the Hikvision has v5.1.2. My thought was to put the Hikvision firmware to v5.0.0 too? The Lorex NVR 380 firmware was v2.2.7 which is quite behind the current Hikvision releases for the NVRs. My system uses: This Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I camera with Hikvision firmware V5.1.0 build 131202 The NVR is a Lorex NVR280, with Hikvision firmware V2.3.7 build 140411 I haven't gone to the newer Chinese firmware on this camera, but I use v5.1.2 on Lorex Cameras that have the Hikvision firmware fine.
  9. I use the same camera on the Lorex NVR that I have, works great.
  10. I have updated the firmware via the NVR's web interface and perform a reset to defaults after updating. Before that I save my config to a file, just incase I have to go back to a previous version.
  11. So, if you know your way around these cameras, modifying files to make them English, you'll be ok. Personally I would avoid known problems if I can help it. I know this is affecting businesses, which could be their intention.
  12. Depends, but I haven't been happy with the different components are on different versions of the activex web plug in. They might never get the language issue sorted out, might be intentional, who knows. The Swann adjustable camera is more capable, can also store data on an internal uCD card for additional redundancy. It will take time to get the focus right.
  13. Good stuff, I forgot about the 5Ghz speed. That should give plenty of speed then, sorry about that. There was a Android app update in the last few days that seemed to have fixed being able to switch between clear/fluent. Have you tried changing the i-frame value to a smaller number, maybe 15 or 30? The smaller the number, the more bandwidth is used. http://support.slingbox.com/get/KB-2000081.html
  14. I have that same 12mm Hikvision camera, it works well, but.... now there is the whole English not working on new firmware updates issue. So I advise against it unless you want the hassle of editing binary files on each update. This one can be adjusted and is in English on all firmware updates. I would get this one and flash it to the latest hikvision firmware, which will be in English. http://www.costco.com/Swann-HD-1080p-3MP-IP-Vari-Focal-Add-on-Bullet-Camera.product.100089466.html
  15. Your s4 phone can connect at a max rate of 72.2 Mbps, which can give a real life data speed of about half that. How many cameras are you viewing at the same time, and what are their data rate set to? Which stream were you viewing, clear/balanced/fluent? And what are those data rate?

    Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I

He asked for the English version, so I assumed so. Do you have an insight to whether if they will go back on their English/Chinese firmware incompatibilities? Whether it was intended or not.

    Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I

But then I thought v 5.1.2 isn't even in English anyway on a non-English model?
  18. I don't know really, but Lorex posted an update to their firmware. Maybe their version is a modified old version that doesn't require a reset. http://www.lorextechnology.com/Security+camera+system+Wireless+camera+system/Security+NVR+with+IP+cameras/prod360017.p?skuId=LNR282C4B
  19. Maybe this one.. ? viewtopic.php?p=227863#p227863
  20. You might need to re-unlock the NVR after updating to the latest firmware from Hikvision, but I don't know. I would bank on that you do need to do it just incase. They might've have fixed that error by now seeing as yours is the same hard but with different firmware, their auto cloud configuring version.
  21. I have version V2.3.7 Build140327 running on mine now. But I see version V2.3.7 build140411 just came out. http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/portal/index.php?dir=Product%20Firmware/DVR%20NVR/DS-76xxNI-SE/
  22. This is the article I think is interesting. http://console-cowboys.blogspot.com/2013/01/swann-song-dvr-insecurity.html
  23. The Hikvision NVR products have been known to have security issues long before this new issue.
  24. When using the NVR's time, the cameras sync very often, it seems every few seconds. Without that I have seen the cameras drift when each one is using an NTP.
