  1. The NVR is using an NTP time server, the cameras are not. Timezones don't matter in the cameras if you're using an NVR. The cameras get the time from the NVR. They sync very well, better than if the cameras use an NTP. I can set the time in the cameras too, using NTP, correct time is shown. But they aren't exactly in sync with the NVR, which is most important.
  2. Do you know how I do that? Do I put the NVR address as the time server? Here are the settings that work for me. Most of the settings are ignored in the camera, including the time zone. Was running: NVR running V2.3.7 build 131112 Now running: V2.3.7 build 140327, no difference still works, the cameras are less than 1 second difference than the NVR.
  3. The cameras should be configured to get their time from the NVR.
  4. It looks like that router doesn't support NAT Loopback, that is the problem.
  5. I looked at the manual for that router. Do you have NAT Loopback enabled? See page 45. http://www.dlink.com/-/media/Business_Products/DSR/DSR%20250/Manual/DSR_250_Manual_104_EN_CA.pdf
  6. Are you saying that you can create the unlock codes?
  7. If your router doesn't support internal routing, then you need to create a second connection config. eg: external: myname.dyndsn.org 134.43.54.21 port 9901 internal: 192.168.1.123 port 80
  8. Yep you lose a port, if you needed it. By having continual access to the cameras you can update the firmware easily plus use the additional motion detection capabilities of the cameras to save data to an external device PC/NAS. This gives you redundancy.
  9. We know this The point is that cameras will not be accessible by using NIC which is being used to connect NVR with home network That how I understand One way is this: Assign a reserved IP address for each camera in your router. Connect the camera to the POE-Switch. Connect a single POE-Switch port to your LAN. Connect the NVR LAN port to your LAN. Configure each camera to use DHCP. Manually add each camera in the NVR using the reserved IP address. Another way is: Have your LAN to use the DHCP address range of 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.199 Change the address range of the POE-Switch network to be 192.168.1.200+ (this in the menus of the NVR) Connect a NVR-POE port to your LAN. Connect the NVR-LAN to your LAN. All the cameras will be plug and play and be accessible from the LAN. But you will have to see their IP address by looking at the NVRs config menus.
  10. Yep I know, but it doesn't have to use its own. The NVR does NOT have a DHCP server.
  11. Unfortunately the PoE ports on the back of the NVR are auto assigned their own IP from the NVR itself, not the main router DHCP. The cameras are set to DHCP before I connect them to the NVR, when they are connected to the NVR they are given a 192.168.1.x address, if I plug the camera into my main router then they get a 192.168.0.x The NVR assigns the cameras an IP address without using DHCP, using a lower level protocol. If you your DHCP server assigned them an IP address, then it will leave them alone. You can manually add the camera using the IP address that your router assigned (set a reserved IP address in your router) in the NVR.
  12. You are making it more complicated than it needs to be. Setup each camera to use DHCP from your router, or give them a static IP address. Connect the LAN to the POE-Switch. No routing needed.
  13. Same cameras, the reason for such a huge thread. Best settings? Always depends. Look through this thread.
  14. Lorex/Swann are rebadged Hikvisions USA models and can use the firmware. The NVRs can use the firmware too, but will require some password resets, as Hikvision's firmware update process is hokey.
  15. Thank goodness the last version worked. Boy, was that new version a cluster. It was just awful.
  16. I advise against updating to 2.3.7, its very buggy and the high camera resolutions can't be selected in the NVR. Manual cameras take for ever to show up. I'm reverting back to 2.3.4 I can't login via Chrome or Firefox either.
  17. Format the USB drive on your PC/Mac to the proper size. If the file table is messed up on that drive, use this software to fix it. https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
  18. Firmware for the NVR from Lorex has been released, version 2.2.3, fixing daylight savings time it says. Firmware 2.3.7 from Hikvision has been released. Their firmware supports push notifications to the Android app. I haven't installed this yet. This adds many changes below... DS-7600 PoE NVR Release Notes USA Baseline Firmware Version: v2.3.7 build140122 Live view and Playback 1. Changes the default live view stream in multi-screen mode to sub stream 2. Support auto adjust HDMI output at the best resolution to match the connected display 3. Add a snapshot button in the playback interface 4. If the SVC is enabled on connected IPC, NVR’s decoding ability decreases from 4-ch 720P to 3-ch 720P 5. Add more playback speed options: x16, x32, x64, x128, x256, x512 6. Add a “Get URL” button in the HiDDNS interface to show the HiDDNS url access to NVR 3. Modify the default RTSP port to 10554 4. The assigned IP information via DHCP is now displayed in the IP address bar after enable DHCP and refresh the network configuration interface. (A refresh button is added in the page) IPC Management 1. The IPC added to NVR is synchronized in encoding parameter to main stream: 720P/1.3Mb, and sub stream: 4CIF 512kb 12fps. Exception: For DS-7616NI-SE/P NVR, IPC’s sub stream is synchronized to CIF 2. Support configure IPC’s image settings on NVR’s local menu or web, including Sharpness, Gain, White Balance, Exposure, Day/Night Switch, Digital Noise Reduction, Backlight Compensation, Smart IR, Video Standard, Mirror, EPTZ 3. If input password includes number, lower case letter, upper case letter, and symbol at the same time: Strong. Fix a bug that may cause modifying admin password on the web locks the NVR from remote log-in
  19. On the desktop via Chrome (and the junky webcomponents), it is pretty fast to scroll through hours and days of recordings, but it isn't user friendly. It doesn't let you hop from camera to camera, making you click stop. And not syncing all camera events together, unlike most desktop software. Annoying popups when you search the logs telling you that the search has finished.
  20. That is because the NVR doesn't playback the mobile (2nd stream), it only plays back the main (1st) stream, the full quality one. It is kinda unusable most of the time because of this unless you have a very high upload speed with the ISP.
  21. That video is normal. Slow down the frame rate, that will stop a lot of the detections for movement. The air is full of 'stuff' all the time.
  22. Over those choices I'd select the Synology, get a 2 drive model.
