HI thanks no each of my cams has its own power supply but I am still confused I see lots of cams on line that say AHD analog is that ok? or is there just a straight 'analog' cam? thanks Dennis

we have an old GV-1480B card we have used it for years but a couple cheap color cameras we have are freezing up and have a black bar running vertically. I tried to change to a new camera, but it was worse, Am I supposed to use only analog cameras? I think I bought a digital HD (may TVI) cam the store guy said its harder to get cams now I just need to know if I have to just use analog cams thanks

Data Caps from ISP and Geovision Remote viewing
doppelt replied to doppelt's topic in Security Cameras
well update: I just called my old ISP and they said that over the last few months, our max data use was 200 Gigs my new cap is 300, so I am ok and, I also heard that in Canada, the CRTC has ordered ISP's not to disrupt people's service if they go over thanks -
Hi Help please We have used Geovision for a decade, no issues. but our Telus ISP connection sucks because of bad architecture in the business' building we were getting about 5 Mb/s download, 0.3 Mb/s upload now we are changing ISP's and as of tomorrow, will be getting 30 Mb/s download, but the important one is we are getting 5 Mb/s upload which we want for remote camera viewing we have 16 cams on motion detect and I 'think' we save away more than 300 Gb in a 25 days period on the HD before it recycles here is my question: Our ISP just told me that our new plan has a 300 Gb data cap I asked them if we exceed that, will we not be able to remotely view our cameras? they said no, we would just get an alert do you think this is going to be an issue? and does the upload data only count as uploaded data when we are remotely logged in and viewing? thanks Dennis

yes that makes sense, but I had another DVR using dipmap.com that was connecting fine , but they have more than one server I am sure so maybe that was still the issue thanks Dennis -

DDNS not connecting, IP connects
doppelt posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi I have my DVR running, ver. 8.57 win 7 all of a sudden my DDNS has stopped working I cannot remotely view using DDNS but I can still connect using my IP address, which is a pain when it changes all the time my DDNS is running I have used the same domain name for years this happened today If I click on 'save' all I see in the box below is a 'page cannot open' error, or no connection or whatever instead, I should see: 'update successful' I thought I'd try setting up a new DDNS name but no matter how many times I click on 'register' close the window and click again all I get is that 'cannot open page' message instead of the register page any ideas? thanks Dennis -
yes thanks I found my card is 32 bit "Only" so is not compatable with win 7 64 bit I am changing the card to a 64 bit card and reinstalling the software

Hi I have a GV-800 crad that is 32 bit Only.... I know this cause its very old stock but a new card. I had it running in a new pc, with XP installed as the OS this DVR system was a backup and it was in storage for almost 2 years but I tested it on line and all was fine. In my absence, a security company, deleted the XP, and installed windows 7 64 bit. The DVR is now running full time, but there is an issue every day it crashes. The main screen goes all funny with a mosaic of colors, the remote viewing stops, but it keeps recording. after we turn the pc off and cold reboot all is fine again for another 12 -36 hours till it happens all over again. I have included 3 errors I found in the 'admin errors' section of windows event log (see below) Is there a way to fix this? any ideas? I am guessing its crashing because you cannot run a 32 bit card on windows 7 64 bit, cause win 7 is 32 bit compatable, but not true 32 bit I have written geovision, but have not heard back yet I am just trying to get as much info as possible to figure out my next move. thanks Dennis here are the errors: --------------------------- Log Name: Application Source: Microsoft-Windows-WMI Date: 6/13/2015 12:26:59 PM Event ID: 10 Task Category: None Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: DVR Description: Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. I sure see a lot of people reading these posts but I get no replies I guess my questions are either too easy or too hard, anyway.. Does anyone know how I can check a geovision DVR system that is currently running and integrated with POS if it's POS is printing in 'text mode' or 'graphics mode' Without using hyperterminal? I do not wish to use hyperterminal for fear that I will screw something up I need to know this so I can install the proper software (text sender pos text only or text sender pos graphics mode) on to another back DVR and pc) thanks dennis

Hi When you instal remote view log on a remote pc, and on a different netwrork than the DVR do you need to open the port on the router to make it connect? or does it just work? it uses port 5552 thanks Dennis

Hi I have an existing GV800 DVR that works fine I have a new GV800 DVR on the bench, I took a camera out of the old system (it was working and so was the motion sensor) and hooked it up to my new dvr on the bench and it works great but, I could leave it alone for an hour and come back and it would be still on. I thought it should turn off until it detects motion. I thought I had the motion detector settings enabled (never did figure out what that little orange thumb means that does nothing after you click it) are there any motion detector settings I should be looking for that maybe I missed? I just realized that I did not set up a 'mask' maybe that is why it did not work, I do not have the camera right now but I may try that when I get the cam back. thanks Dennis
