Hi Everyone -
First post. But I've been "trolling" these forums for a couple months as they have been an excellent resource for planning my cctv install for my home.
Following recommendations, I'm going to purchase the system from Costco with their awesome return policy. I've seen varied opinions, but I'm hoping one of the experts on this site can provide me some opinions on which system to purchase.
Costco currently has two systems available:
Lorex 8-channel High-Definition Digital NVR with 2TB HDD & 4 HD 1080p Weatherproof Cameras: http://www.costco.ca/Lorex%C2%AE-8-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-2TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-1080p-Weatherproof-Cameras.product.100040459.html
Q-See 4-channel High-Definition Digital NVR with 1 TB HDD & 4 HD 720p IP Cameras: http://www.costco.ca/Q-See%C2%AE-4-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-1-TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-720p-IP-Cameras.product.100007744.html
Now, on paper the Lorex seems superior and I like the marketing behind them - their mobile apps appear to be better in the Google Play and Apple stores. Website is decent vs. white labeling of the Q-See stuff, etc.
However I've seen a few posts ragging on quality of Lorex systems on this site. So I'm hoping you guys can offer some opinion!
Finally, I should note the intended purpose. I'm hoping to get coverage around my home. Front door, back of house w/sliding door, down each side of the home. Hoping to set it up so that motion capture will email me if someone approaches front door or detects movement in back yard.
Max 4 or 5 cameras will be needed. Both systems to my knowledge support this, even thought I'd need another POE adapter for the Q-See.
Thanks!
