    Geovision and dedicated remote view

Rory, thats expensive, i see what you mean. BT in the UK became privatised around 1991, and now DSL is around $40 a month. Not only that but they've got a 'dealership contract' where installers (especially telecoms ) dealers that offer DSL packages to their customers get a commission for every installation, and the job gets done a lot quicker because you've got direct contact with the DSL guys and they know you're a dealer. Thanks for the links! Someone was telling me i would need a DSL router in order to get constant access. I downloaded sygate, i've heard of it before and its used quite a lot here in the UK, thats even better, its FREE, an extra $30 in my pocket

    Geovision and dedicated remote view

Regarding remote view for Geovision. When we install our geovision systems, we offer our customers the option of remote view, if they require it, we have a partnership with BT so they provide the customer with the broadband connection for remote view. The broadband modem has 2 connections, a USB2.0 to the computer and a rj11 connection to the DSL filter. The problem we're getting is in order to connect to the internet, the customer has to open the connection box and click 'connect' (a lot like a dial up), geovision automatically generates the webcam on startup so thats not a problem. This means that the geovision webcam only works once the internet is connected, and some customers use the internet every now to surf or search, and i dont know how but it often ends up getting disconnected. The customer don't know how to connect, so i have to go there every few weeks to connect get the internet up and running, sounds silly, but its got to be done. Could anyone provide me with a solution, so the internet is ALWAYS CONNECTED?? Another thing, what Firewall do you use with geovision to prevent intrusion, ive found it tends to slow the transmission down very much, and its almost like logging on to a dial up webcam account. I use norton firewall

    Remote Access Only????

Cheers for the website rory! Yea, i tried out sunkwang cameras a few months ago but i havent ordered them yet. I tried out the day-night cam sk-2134AI with mechanical filter, i was quite impressed, it was about $90 cheaper than the samsung day-nights i usually use (SDN-520). I've been using a IR bullet from Avtech recently, its a good seller here in the UK, but it never illuminates well outside, could be my dodgy installation methods I know sunkwang sell a colour waterproof camera for a decent price, aint tried it out yet. What other good korean and japenese manufacturers are there? Just visited sunkwangs site and they claim to be 'SECOND largest exporter of cctv cameras', anyone know whos the biggest?

    Remote Access Only????

hunts website is www.hunt.com.tw not sure who imports avtech equip in the US, im in the UK, best thing to do is give them an e-mail and let them know where you are. Their cameras have been fantastic so far, im surprised not many people have heard of them, they're one of the biggest. I use a body camera 420TVL cam 1/3" panasonic CCD for around $90. The only problem is they stopped using sony chips in their cameras, they used to use 1/4"sony, they're now using 1/3" panasonic chips. Very nice for the price though!

    Remote Access Only????

AVTECH have good DVRs (4ch-9ch) i didn't know they had certificate problems with the 5V/12V power supplies, i thought it was just because i wasn't using surge protected outlets. Anyone use AVTECH cameras? i dont know whether its worth me buying them, apparently they're the largest manufacturer of CCTV cameras in Taiwan, many companies in Taiwan use their cameras with their own badge. Im currently testing out a few cameras from Avtech, Sunkwang and Hunt if anyones heard of them. Hunt do a fantastic 4CH DVR with motion detection, a little more expensive than the AVTECH but excellent features. Anyone uses got any feedback on hunts, sunkwangs or Avtechs cameras?

    Remote Access Only????

Just looking at some of the info on this forum, very useful! Ive started using avtech's the web server recently found it useful, the only problem is the camera limitations, most of my customers have got 4-8 cameras so i prefer to use geovision. Anyone tried AVTECHs CCTV cameras? AVC777 (16ch DVR) was not bad for the price but had a lot of power supply problems and was only 15FPS. Anyone got any suggestions on using Avtech equipment as opposed to other manufacturers?
