Help on changing logos or skins on Geovision
CCTVINSTALLER replied to Potlvr420's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Sounds cool, hey scottj, could you e-mail me a copy? my e-mail is digitalsecuritysystems@hotmail.com Thanks -
Rory what router have they got? Im guessing they're currently using a USB modem for dial up. You will probably be using PPPoA, once you've entered the ISP account details in the router setting, the internet connection will remain connected all the time, so there will no be dial up screen. You could enter the gateway details like ant said but you will probably be better of using DHCP which most routers support which means you wont have to enter any IP setting for the computers.

problem with auto log-in
CCTVINSTALLER replied to Robert Oaks's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Also, if you're just hitting the restart button on your comp,, then it wont start up with your auto-login rules, it needs to be restarted properly via auto-reboot setup setting. -

Anyone know this DVR?? 480/480 16 ch RTOS
CCTVINSTALLER replied to rory's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thats a Rifatron DVR http://www.rifatron.com/product/main.htm -
Click the Auto Gain Control in the camera settings, it will adjust the Gain control for all your cameras automatically. Only other thing i can suggest is adjusting the brightness levels for your cameras. What resolution are you recording at, try selecting 640X480SW and then enabling directdraw overlay and deinterlace render in the settings. Good luck!

HD Setup
CCTVINSTALLER replied to ClosedCircuitCom's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
however, you need to partition the first 300GB HDD, about 10GB-15GB purely for Windows, you then use the rest of the space + your other 300GB for video. If you store your video files on the same drive as windows, it'll screw your system up! -

The geovision system will write to both HDDs, you just have to add them in the Storage setting -

Troubleshooting GV800-16
CCTVINSTALLER replied to fdan4817's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
WOH!!!! that spec is tooo low for a Gv800-16, id you're using that as a permanent system, don't expect it to last. I know they say the spec is ok, but geovision say a lot of things. The only problem i can see is with youre video card, definitely not as powerful as you need it to be. 'nVIDIA GeForce2 MX200 32MB' is a min spec video card. Are you using direct draw overlay and de-interlace render in your settings? if so try disabling them -
Best way to add screen on a pc based system
CCTVINSTALLER replied to antdickens's topic in System Design
We always get problems when using DVI output of graphics card, you have to disable directdraw overlay for one, next you if you maximise a camera on the screen, you get a pink box. Instead use a Video splitter, this eliminates the problem. The first option is probably the best, combined with a video splitter, you use a VGA valun and STP cable which is dead cheap and connect it up. If you're system and monitor is onthe same floor and the client has suspended ceiling you could use a VGA cable, 20-30metres max and connect it straight to the video splitter, shouldnt have a problem drilling too many holes that way. -

Rory, you're not the first guy to say that, definitely a very ugly DVR! I'll be honest, ive never had one lock up on me, well not yet anyway! For the price you can't complain, all of them come with TCP/IP connection as standard. The only problem i had was once i was only getting 7 channels out of the 8 to work, thats about it. I used the avtech 16 channel before this and they really let me down, PSU issues!!!!. I mean there were times where i was installing a DVR one week and going a week after to replace the PSU! you can imagine what my customer was thinking. My supplier tells me they've sorted out the problem, maybe they have, but i refuse to go back to a manufacturer once they've let me down!! also its a 18fps, this one's 25fps, motion is easier to set up, its got a CDRW, remote control making it more user friendly for the customer.

Piece of advice, don't buy of a company who trying to make a few hundred $$ of you by telling you its a samsung DVR!
-
That Dvr is made by Sys-tek, www.sys-tek.co.kr its an oem, a lot of manufacturers re-brand this DVR and sell it on, Very Cheap but stable as a rock, have not yet had a single problem with them. PM me the price you're paying for, i'll let you know if you're getting a good deal

Displaying Live Video as a Screen Saver
CCTVINSTALLER replied to Taino_7's topic in Computers/Networking
and that seriously works??????? -
What sort of microphone you thinking of using? Ive done a covert audio recording job where i used these nice microphones in these small junction boxes, i mounted them on the ceiling, no problems, dont look too obvious either.
