  1. Hi all. So I've been able to setup 3 ACTi E32s around the outside of my home and am able to monitor them via Blue Iris app on my iPhone. However, I was trying to access each individual camera via the internet on my MacBook Air's Safari browser. I am able to login to each E32's Web Configurator, but then when I try to view live video I see a "missing plugin" message where the video should appear. When I click on this message it takes me to the VLC site asking me to download VLC media player. But I already have the VLC media player installed, so I figure I'm missing a step here. Any help towards getting this to work would be greatly appreciated!
  2. This is exactly why I installed a video surveillance system in my home. It's not the material things that matter. Home invasions are the WORST!!! Even here in Canada it's bad
  3. Just out of curiosity, what size lens do you have on your HDB3200c ?
  4. Hi Blake, I failed to mention that I also installed an AVN813 on the inside of our window looking out of our front entrance, with a PIR motion sensor installed on the outside and wired into the AVN813's alarm I/O to activate Push Notifications. When I tried to login & view live video the first time, I was asked to do the same and that's how I now have the latest VLC media player 2.0.7 installed in my MacBook Air After that I'm able to view live video from the AVN813. But still doesn't work for the ACTi E32s I am going to try using MJPEG compression instead of H264. I think I read somewhere that you don't neet plugins for either Safari or Chrome browsers when using MJPEG. Thanks for the help!
  5. Had to use shortcuts on the subject line, but I need urgent help. Getting dark here fast but I have a PoE bullet camera from Empire and my switch PoE ports don't seem to be powering it up, although when I use a power supply, it works. I also bought a PoE active splitter 12vdc and when I hook that up to the Zyxel switch the PoE ports aren't lighting up & neither is the active splitter's green light. Are the ports in sleep mode cuz I left it plugged in for 1 week with nothing in them except for a connection on the normal ports to my cable modem. This is a farily simple switch & a reliable one from what I've read. Does anyone have any ideas?
  6. Thanks for your help! ESC actually confirmed that they were wired the way you described. I ended up getting the ACTi E32 instead. Worked right out of the box.
  7. Hello again All, I have purchased and installed 3 brand new ACTi E32 ip cameras around the exterior of my home and I am able to view all 3 simultaneously via my iPhone 4S on the IOS app called Blue Iris. The Blue Iris software profile I am using is excellent and right now I have them triggering on Motion Detection, then Push Notification on my BI IOS app on my iPhone 4S. My BI Win7 64bit app is running flawlessly on my Zotac 1.8ghz mini-PC at around 50% processor occupancy. I am using the ACTi profile in BI that's called "ACTi Video Port 6002". However, not that this is the way I would like to access my ip cameras, but I tried to access each one of them individually via my MacBook Air's Safari Browser and also via my IOS app called IP Cam Viewer Pro on my iPhone 4S, I am finding that I am not able to access them at all. For example, if I type in xx.xx.xx.xxx:yy where x=my external ip address and y=my port address forwarded to my internal (LAN) ip address & port#, I am not able to access my ip cam's Web Configurator. Are there any ACTi ip cam owners that are using a script or URL to access their ACTi's via internet browser or IOS app? Thank in advance to those who reply!
  8. Found out I had the wrong Gateway down All good now!
  9. Thank you!!! As mobbarley says either is fine. Linear supplies use a larger magnetic transformer and rectifier, are usually physically larger and heavier than a switching equivalent, are less efficient and are often more expensive. They produce less noise (emi radiation) than a switching supply so are a good choice where that matters. With most consumer electronics (including cameras) induced noise isn't an issue and switching supplies are fine due to less power being wasted and being cheaper. Probably more than you care to know...
  10. I'm thinking of buying a POWER ADAPTER, AC/DC, LINEAR, 12V, 2A, CEN + to power up 2 ip cameras? Both cameras have a 12VDC 1A power requirement. I'm not an electronics expert, but what is the difference between a LINEAR and a SWITCHING power supply. Which is more appropriate for powering non-PoE ip cameras? Thanks in advance as always!
  11. I believe I followed 568A spec. All cable & connectors were all brand new CAT5e. I also tried the ip camera before I installed underneath eave 20' up. Tried 3 different predone CAT5e cables I had accumulated over time, and ip camera failed to power up on any of the 4 PoE ports. Now the only thing I have that I could use besides the ip camera was a new Active Splitter that I had gotten off eBay to power up an AVTech AVN-807A (non-PoE) that I was waiting for. Don't know if the Green Light was supposed to light up on the splitter when connected to any of the 4 PoE ports, but it wasn't lighting up. Maybe it only lights up once you have a non-PoE device hooked-up to it, so I can't tell for sure if the splitter is working or not, but it wasn't working with the ESC ip camera. It could be possible that neither PoE devices are working too. Anyway, I am going to bring my Zyxel switch to a dealer locally and test it out with one of his PoE ip camera models. Then I'll know for sure if it's the switch or something else. Thanks for everyone's help & suggestions! 10/100 ethernet only requires 2 pair. Cheap cables, or older 10/100 only cables, often didn't bother to connect all 4 pairs. You should look at your cable and see if all 8 pins are connected. You can also verify they they are wired to spec: http://www.utm.edu/staff/leeb/568/568.htm 568B is more common but either will work as long as the cable is wired the same on both ends.
  12. Plugged my Asus 4G Surf netbook to PoE Port 1 and Amber light goes on. As a matter of fact, I'm typing this reply on my netbook now!
  13. Well, I never even tried to use the 12VDC power adapter until I told Kyle the camera wasn't powering up over any PoE ports on my switch. That's when he said to use the power adapter, which worked.
  14. 1. plug in - nothing happens 2. turn on/off switch in the back to "I" position 3. green PWR light comes on 4. I plug it into my router on port 8, LNK/ACT port 8 light blinks in amber 5. I plug in a PoE camera into port 1, LNK/ACT port 1 light nothing happens and PoE port 1 light does not go on 6. camera does not work. Gonna have to buy NetGear PoE switch locally to try out. Our neighbor's car just got broken into today! This is the only thing that's keeping me going on this project, otherwise I would have give up already!
  15. Hello all! Enjoying this forum a lot. Learning lots too! I have a 5' x 20' pathway that leads from our gate into our enclosed backyard that I want to monitor. I was looking at buying a fairly inexpensive PIR MD that has a 110° angle, 7' height and 49' depth of view. I was thinking of mounting it under our eave which looks down on this pathway. Will this actually work? Thanks in advance to all who reply!
  16. Me thinks you're bashing this camera cuz you're the competition mr. chen Just took a look at the specs and this camera has an IP67 rating!!!
  17. Sorry......I'm drawing blanks right now. Who & where is DSD located? Website? Thanks
  18. Interesting Joseph. Have you tried this model then?
  19. No, the AVN-807A is an IR Bullet Camera for exterior installation.
  20. I was actually going to try the AVTech AVN-807A which has Push Notification with live video to iPhone capability, as well as the option to record to iPhone with the EagleEyes app.
  21. Sorry.......my bad! Thanks. You don't change the address of your router, you change the IP address of your local computer.
  22. I have a Cisco DPC3825 Cable Modem/Wireless Router. I cannot do an ip address of 192.0.0.100 as shown on the pic of the menu. Is there software that can change the ip address of these 1080 IR Bullets to match my LAN parameters? Rick, change your IP4 config as follows... IP Address: 192.0.0.100 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.0.0.1 (Don't worry about the DNS servers) After reconfiguring your computer reboot it because why not waste some more time. Make certain that your computer and your Swan camera are plugginto the same router and that the camera is getting power. It takes the camera a few minutes to boot so be patient. Then start your broswer which will timeout and not be able to find your home page (this is normal when you change your IP address like you just did). Then enter 192.0.0.64 in your browser address bar and hit enter. Login with admin>12345 (if I remember right). Once you are logged in, change the IP address to a static address which matches your local area network scheme and save your changes. Then, change your computer's IP address back to the way it originally was. Then restart your broswer and browse to the static IP address your assigned to your camera. That should do it bro.
  23. I've been eyeing this camera. Does it have a PIR input? If there is one, at what voltage?
  24. Nice find. Does parallax also sell outdoor housings for these units?
  25. Thank you for this valuable information. I guess I'll have to get me at least 1 of the 2MP ip cams.
