  1. Review the footage and see if there is anything there, I had a client who was convinced it was a local youth on his way home from the pub, looked at the rg and it looked like was cut with a knife , turned out to be a Fox!

Problems screwing dome cameras to there wall brackets

I think I know what your issue is. When you screw the base to the wall don't really overtighten the screws because you will distort the base ,even the slightest distortion will cause the threads to missalign. Rob.

    Boosting Power

The answer to your question is to power the camera locally , calculating cable length and voltage drop to overvolt from source is not a good idea, if you calculate to get 12v to camera when the IR is on , you are gonna get more voltage when the IR is off.Measuring the cable will not give you a true idea , you need to know what the current the camera is drawing as well as voltage.
  9. RG59 is specifically designed for use for cctv applications, cat 5 and baluns are a work round for when RG is too difficult to run or the engineer can't be bothered. Cat 5/6 (network cable ) is for IP cameras and the only time in my experience (25 years) people cross the two is when they want to get a work around for a site with complex issues. So here is your answer , analogue /hdsdi Rg59 Ip , cat5/6 Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise.

    Repair leaking eyeball cameras

I have sourced and fitted loads of these cameras , and tbh the ones that had silica bags already in them were the ones that gave me trouble , ie customer phones a couple of days after install to report cameras misted up. Now I allways split these and take the bags out , and blow with a hair dryer for a minute. I think the problem is they are manufactured in Far East in a humid environment , then sealed with humid air inside them . So the answer is , swap it for some good English air !!

    Wiring 24V-AC Adapter?

See my previous reply , it's AC (alternating current ) put the ground to the ground ,and the other two wires don't matter which way round you put them . Really if you don't know something as basic as this , then you shouldn't be messing!

    Wiring 24V-AC Adapter?

It is an AC adapter, so it doesn't actually matter which way around you wire this , connect one wire to one AC terminal and the other wire to the other AC terminal, the middle terminal is your ground.

    Amateur

Was in Maplins yesterday and eavesdropped on a conversation between a customer and sales assistant. Both of them were absolutely clueless, the customer was looking at a kit with absolutely no knowledge of what he wanted or what he was trying to achieve, other than the idea that he wanted cctv. The sales assistant was no better, giving false information about the expected quality of the kit . At the end of the day this guy is going to fail, fail and fail again when he comes to installation , and I would dearly love to be a fly on the wall if he ever even gets as far as trying to set up remote viewing. I thought to my self ,shall I give him a business card ? But then thought no , f@@k it , let him struggle , with his Pandora's box . One of the questions my customers want to know is why is your price more than I can get elsewhere? Mmm #1 my kit is professional kit #2 I am a professional security engineer #3 I know what I am doing ( see #2)

    Cost

Yes I agree, domestic customers are a pain in the arse most of the time. They think the best equipment costs about £200 quid and we should fit for minimum wage rates. Well sorry Mr domestic customer , I can network a cctv system for remote viewing in about 5 minutes, which is about 6 days ,15 hours and 5 minutes faster than you, so that is why we charge what we do !
