The dvr has two password options ,one for user and one for admin. You need to check the admin passwords are set to admin and admin in the menu.

Has this been working ok before? Strangely , I have a customer with an Avtech dvr who phoned me the other day with similar problems. It was working ok (I installed it ) He couldn't log on via the cms viewer or with the web browser. If you log on to the dvr locally ( monitor and mouse) Then re enter the admin and admin password fields in the remote log on fields. You may have to factory reset first.

Standalone and long duration camera

You don't want anything with a high quality image or anything fancy (quote) And you can't find anything? 99.9% of the crap that comes from China fits your requirement and eBay is flooded with it! -
You are never going to get any success with a dynamic ip from BT , they change addresses for the fun of it , sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. DDNS is also too hit and miss unless you are prepared to pay for it (dyndns pro). Take it from me , bite the bullet and-upgrade your BT internet to business use with a static ip,

The eBay listing you refer to , doesn't include a hard drive, what size hard drive do you have installed in your machine. If you have a 1 tb hdd and 4 cameras , I would set it to record all 4 channels 24/7 anyway , you will get about 14 days recording before the disc overwrites. To be honest , qvis stuff is pretty good , pro's use it all the time, I have used qvis on dozens of installations and never had any problems, the remote control might not work , coz you can have more than 1 remote on a system ,so you have to "pair" it to the dvr in order for it to work. Maybe the person who fitted it for you bit off a bit more than he could chew! Did he configure it for internet access, I bet he didn't! Classic example of why you should pay a professional to do a professional job.

You are using your LAN IP address and not your wan IP address.

Hi , I am a professional UK installer . The gear he fitted for you is badged QVIS and distributed in the UK by a company called Adata, they only supply trade only ,so how did you get a price from them ? And bear in mind these prices would have been plus VAT. I bet they were out of stock of 4 ch dvr's and let him have a bigger unit when he sent the faulty one back, ( they have done a similar thing with me when I have been wanting to buy stock) Also bear in mind he had had to buy a power supply for the cameras and buy cable as well, and pay a carriage fee from Adata. Also bear in mind a lot of dome cameras look the same , whilst having a massive difference in specification. My guess is that it probably took him the best part of a day to fit and for a total of £500 seems reasonable to me . My company would have charged about £650. Bearing in mind wages , insurance, etc.

Just for UK installers, Just for interest ,what gear do you use for low end installs? I use either adata or Sytemq, but find that neither of them are reliable when it comes to their stock holding . I like Systemq's Alien eko dvr's but not so keen on their cameras, and similarly I like adata's cameras , but not so much their dvr's. So when I do a quote for a domestic or small office install, it usually ends up with me actually quoting for what I can get at the time ,rather than what I really want!

Fitted 6 cameras and get a call back from customer to say the images are not very good , when I get to site to look at the cameras , they all have condensation in them , they were all brand new from systemq (uk) last week . They are external dome types with ir illumination , ( the usual type of thing) , I haven't split the camera shells so I can only assume they have been assembled in a high humidity environment, and then after the cams have warmed up a bit the condensation is forming? Any body else encountered this before ?

Advice for Alarm integration with DVR
fertilebert replied to yolish's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Wire Bell pos from Texecom panel through handy little relay to give you either a nc or no to suit your DVR alarm contacts and voila, when your texecom goes off your DVR gets the alarm signal as well. -
