    Cat5 Cable + and -

ive picked up some rca female modular jacks, that you can punch down your cat 5 onto, at home depot or lowes. then you might need an bnc-to-rca connector, or you might not, depending on your camera. or you can just buy the rca connectors at radio shack, that you hook up the cat 5 to the rca yourself.

    Coax, Cat5 or wire....

Ive got my driveway cam, mounted right under my motion light at the peak of my garage. Im currently running on twisted pair, that is punched down on femail rca modular connectors. No baluns here. I only did this because i had previously ran cat 5 out to my garage for future internet, and or audio.

what tool box do you use for parts

What kind of tool bag, or tool box do you guys use? I currently use a tool bag for my hand tools, and Im thinking of putting a craftsman roller tool box in the side door of my van. I can get pretty much everything in it, and I can take it out, if necessary

    domes for cold weahter outside

I live in michigan. cold and snowy, icy rain, etc. depends on the year. anyway, I am looking for something other than the typical outdoor housing/box cam setup. this is for a country club, with a brick building. Ive noticed a lot of bullet cams around lately, and havent had a problem on my house, and the concensus is that the heat generated from the cam itself is enough to keep it warm.

box cam fit inside ptz housing?

I like the looks of some of the ptz housings for upscale buildings. Will a box cam work in one of these housings with a 60mm lens?

what tool box do you use for parts

Haha Scorpion, that is exactly what i have, and am trying to get away from. I try to separate my cctv parts boxes, from my other low-voltage stuff. I might have 6 gas stations to do in 3 days. Just trying to save time, by putting the drills/bits, fish tapes, etc, back in the truck with ezy reach. This would only work for camera jobs, but, thats what im doing next week.

    Fiber Optic Surveillance

The way to go for fiber nowadays, is the prepolished connectors. All you have to do, is strip the fiber, use cleave tool, push it into connector, glue it or crimp it, and your done. as long as your cleave was good.
  14. I have a customer that has multiple buildings, that he might want to cover. ( I have a walk-thru 6-14) I know he has fiber running out to these buildings, but i think that it is all used up. If his copper feeders are not all used up, can I use these to feed my video 1,000 ft?

Who used this Nuvico DVR before?

I dont know anything about them, but I have a customer that i do network cabling for, that wants me to do a new install, because his nuvico dvr has failed. Are these repairable. he said that is says hdd failure. His contractor told him to look it up in the manual, hahah.

    new fiber termination tool

the pre-polished fiber ends, produce the best test results. Im sure there is a ton of companys making these now, where you use there special cutter, and then just stick the fiber into the connector, crimp and your done.
  17. Ive got a couple of clients that want outdoor cameras. Problem is, that they have brick fronts and are very attractive buildings. I need to find an outdoor housing that is not too gaudy.

    dvr mounting options

Its like pulling teeth getting customers to give up some room, but I am installing a 7ft aluminum floor-mount network rack for this project, as he already has a wall mounted network patch panel, that i am moving over to the new rack. I will be installing shelf for the dvr and ups, 1 shelf for the monitor and keyboard, and another shelf for the network crap that he has laying on the floor now. what do you guys do?

live video on website bandwidth questions

How much bandwidth will my customer need to have live video on his website? 1 camera, 480 tvl. He is a new athletic performance trainer, so, his website wont get much traffic.
  24. Hello all. Thank you for taking the time to help me out. I have installed at least a hundred dvrs, but ive never had to purchase one. Ive just been subcontracted over the years to install systems for a certain company. Ive got a customer that wants me to install 13 cameras and a dvr. I would like it to be pc based. I obviously would like the best quality for the price. Can i get a decent dvr for $2000.00? with 500gb, 240fps Ive been quoted a price from a luxriot dealer. are they any good?
