Just Picked up an e-GeForce 8600 GT. To go with my Geovision 800. The guy at Fry's said it is the only card they have that is Windows Vista Ready. I wanted an ATI but he said Ati was not going to come out with their version of the Windows Vista ready card till later this year. He said If I didn't get the e-GForce and I decided to upgrade to Windows Vista later I would need to purchase a video card all over again that was Windows Vista ready. If I wanted Windows Vista to be able to perform to its full potential. What do you guys think? Did I make the right choice getting this card? Or would you have purchased a different video card? The guy at Fry's said just bring it back if If I didn't like it. So I can always exchange it. Thanks for the help. Dave Here are the specs. http://www.evga.com/products/

I only use one computer for all. So it will be used for other things as well. I guess the real question is. For $200 Would you have bought something else? Dave

I had that probled when I saved the video as an AVI. Now I use the backup feature. And no more problems. Dave

I guess I should not have loaded the Raid drivers. I could not get Windows to recognize my Hard Drive. So I hit the F3 and loaded the Raid drivers. After that Windows recognized the HD and Windows loaded. I ended up re formatting and re installing Windows. This time I changed the BIOS to ATA. And Windows recognized my Sata Hard Drive. I ran a program called SISoftware Sandra. I ran a the test to check my computers performance. I got a message back. ST3500461AS(ATA): current mode not optimal. check settings. Also I think it was faster with the Raid driver. Do I have my Hard Drive set up wrong? The only choices I saw in the BIOS was Raid,ATA and another setting that was for Windows Vista only. Shouldn't there have been a choice for Sata? Thanks Dave

I'm thinking about buying this Processor and Motherboard. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 and a P4M800PRO-M V2 Motherboard. The price together $180. Will this processor and motherboard make a good system for my Geo800 System? I like how I can use my old AGP card. And I think my Memory also. Hopefully it has a PCI Exspress slot I'm still checking the specs. Does this sound like a good choice. The price sounds pretty goo to me. How do the specs and compatibility with the Geo system look to you guys? Is there a better choice for around this price? Right now I am using an older model Pentium 4 2.3 mhz. with HT. I'm hoping this will speed thing up a bit. Thanks Dave

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 P4M800PRO-M V2 Motherboard

I wish. Too much $$ for me. I think I'm going to get the Intel Board DG965WH $135 at Fry's tomorrow. And 2 Gig of DDR2 The fast 800mhz. Heck if they make good processors. You would think they would make good motherbords to go with them. I will see what Asus boards they have when I get there. But when I called today the guy said none of there Asus boards had the on board graphics. Also this way I don't have too pay shipping and wait . Also it's easier to take back if I have a problem with it. It should be a big improvement over my old P4 with 2 GB of DDR400 mem. Don't you think? Dave Here is the one I'm looking at. http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboard/index.htm?iid=prod_desk+sc_board -
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 P4M800PRO-M V2 Motherboard

So on the first bord. Is there no fan needed? I could take back this mini typhoon and that would make up the price difference. Does the first one have video on the board? Also is it just me or is there no VGA plug on that board. Dave -

Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 P4M800PRO-M V2 Motherboard
Arockerdude replied to Arockerdude's topic in Geovision
Rory I realized I should take my time and do this right. I know a seperate system is recommended for the Geo System. But I am just about getting away with using one Pc now. The only time I really have trouble is when I work with my digital pictures. I have about 35 Gigs. of digital photos. I’m hoping with the upgrade I will have enough speed to get away with just having one computer. I do have the Intel Core2 Duo E6300 Ty 1.8 GHZ. @1066. So that’s my start. I’m starting to wonder if I should return the E6300 for the one up on the processor. Not sure if I need Raid. I'm not sure what Raid is. But I take it the P5L-MX Board does not have Raid. The PSL-MX says it has Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950. Does that mean it has on board graphics? Because I do want some good on board graphics. Also I would like to get a full size Asus board. I'm trying to figure out which one. Do you have any boards in mind? Thanks Dave -

Looks like I can only get the memory from Muskin.com But they have the best price anyway. That Asus board sounds good too. Asus sure has a lot of boards to choose from. Would it be good idea to spend a little more and get even a lttle better Asus board? Or is the ASUS P5L-MX the best one to go with? Dave -

On second thought. I dont think the I'll try the Via chipset board. Not worth the trouble. I'll store it in the closet. Has anyone tried Geovision with the ATI chipset? Dave -

Kensplace. Yaa your right on the Via. I picked it up today at Fry's. Iv' e been looking at it. And it has the Via chipset I'm going to try it anyway. If it doesn't work I will get a different Board. I got the Board and Processor for $179. The board was kind of a throw in. I see the processor is going for $199 everywhere else. The thing I liked about this board is that I was going to be able to just swap over my old memory and AGP card. I will let you guy's no how it go's. Any suggestions on a replacement board would be great. Thanks for the help. Dave Ps what were the problems with Via chip set. So I can keep an eye out for them. I hope it's not total system crash. -

Thanks Rory. The reason I was asking about the ECS board. Is it comes with the E6300 Processor for $176. And it says I can use my AGP card that I just bought. I think my old memory also. Sounds like a good deal dosnt it? Dave -
When I save AVI files. They don't always playback right. Sometime they play too slow. Sometimes they are upside down. And also the time and date are un readable. Here are the programs I have been using to open the Avi's. Winamp. Works the best but sometimes the video is upside down. Windows Media Player. Sometimes I only get sound with frozen video. Inter Video Win DVD 5. Used to work good now multiple playback problems. I copied all my videos to a disk and took them to another computer. Half would not work. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? What programs do you guys use to playback your Avi's? I'm trying to give the police some evidence so I need to get this issue resolved soon. Also for some reason I cant save one long avi. I have to save them five minutes at a time. Thanks for the help. Dave

James. Iv'e been wanting to learn how to do the backup. I tried the backup and that worked Great! Thanks. Now when I take that backup to another computer. Will it open on the other computer with EZViewLog program? And if so how would the police no to click on the EZViewLog icon? Thanks Dave

Best water proof high resolution self enclosed camera
Arockerdude posted a topic in Security Cameras
What would be a good water proof high resolution (self enclosed) camera? I need one that will work good at night. It would be good if it had night vision LED's and a vari focal lens. I have seen one by Pelco. It's a bullet type camera. Self enclosed. Heater and fan built in. But no vari focal lens. There doesn't seem to be very many choices out there for self enclosed cameras. Any ideas? Thanks Dave -

If my camera seems to be in focus to me. Would that mean that my back focus is ok? The reason I ask is. Someone told me my cameras back focus is off. The camera is a Panasonic WMV 474. Here is a couple of pics. Taken with Geovision and uploaded to my online storage site. It looks the worse at night. Maybe it just to dark. Any suggestions? Thanks Dave
-
Yes it is the WV-CP474 Day Night camera. Here are the settings I currently have it set too. ALC/ELC=ALC DNR-H SENS UP=4 BW= I had BW set to Auto 2 for the first few months now I am trying the BW off. Because the color mode seems to be just as clear as the Auto 2 mode. I have the same results with my Pelco 1390. Wth the color mode set to on. The lights seem to trail less. And the picture seems to look about the same. But I have the advantage of having a little color. I have worked for the SF Chronicle for 21 years. They have always had a lot of Elaborate camera systems at all our Printing facilities. They're cameras don't seem to be as snowy as my cameras when I look at there monitors. But they have better lighting than I do. I think mine are snowy because my SENS is set to 4. And I have to set it to 4 because it is so dark. I have a Pelco 1390 with the gain way up also. It is the only way I can see much of anything. It is snowy also. I think it is just too dark out there. If you look at the second picture wouldn't you say that is really dark? Will that's about how dark it is out there. Is there anything I can do to improve the picture at night. Maybe some IR. Maybe if I add IR I could turn the SENS down. Another thing is. Sometime when cars go by they look weird. Stretched out. You know the lights on the car leave trails. Wish I could do something to fix that also. Thanks for the help all. Dave
-
The camera does not have a noise reduction setting that I know of. Inless it may me called something else. And the gain is on 4. Any lower and its to dark to see anything. Dave
-
Would I need a IR corrective lens if I am not using IR? Because at the time I am not using IR. From the picture does it look like I should be using IR. If so do you have a suggestion for some IR to add on. Thanks Dave

How do I get past windows welcome screen? When restarting ?
Arockerdude posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
How do I get past windows welcome screen? When restarting? Now that I updated to Service pack 2. Windows Welcome screen comes up. And untill I click on the user icon. Windows does not start. And that means Geovision does not start. I figured out how to boot Windows with out it going to the Welcome screen or Startup screen which ever it is called. But I can not remember how I did it. Does any one know how to get to those settings in Windows? Thanks Dave
