I think we'll start by creating a user for Windows and keeping the administrator permissions for us. I've google for any settings in the registry to block any applications or changes made to the system I've got very little, some staff any 14yo can figure out how to unblock. A few years back I visited a customer site to troubleshoot his computer and the company which sold it had block the whole system from the registry. I'm looking for these tweaks.

Hi you all, We install pc based cctv. I'm tired of the want to be IT pro. installing and changing settings in the systems we leave at the customer location. We clearly ask not to make any changes in the computers but it happens over and over. we found all kind of applications that compromise the stability of the system. Doesn't any one knows how to block users from changing, installing or saving settings in winxp home. preferable in the registry? You input greatly appreciated

Let me tell you what you need to do. You can buy a adaptec raid card about $75.00 for a raid 0. That will tell Windows you have one hard drive of 10GB and the rest will be assigned D: for example. That is a hardware RAID. Win XP Pro with a ASUS motherboard allows you to setup a software RAID 0 but i don't know what the result will be in your video files. I've experienced some breakdowns in the video files.

We tried this company about 2 years ago. It took 30 days for them to ship a simple card. They don't even accept credit cards. You'll have to mail or deposit the money into a account and wait until they have the mercy to send you the equipment. After all that the software is very stable but no documentation whatsoever. Difficult to learn and difficult to troubleshoot.

I'm looking for a video signal splitter for a pc based dvr. Our dvr has a video out, but it shows one rotating camera at the time I would like to show selected cameras to a tv set as a quad display. Any ideas? I would appreciate your input.

I use text inserters to hook up our P.O.S cash registers to the surveillance system. We have been using decadenet ingeniering, is a good product but very limited in it's functionality. Looking around I got in touch with TVS from honeywell, very expensive. Anyone knows any company with a good product at a reasonable price? I usually get asked for my customers for an increase of their control without spending to much money.

Complemented business
CSScarlos replied to CSScarlos's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I've been using a variety of softwares since I haven't found one that combines features with stability and good tech support. It seems to be that customer service isn't important anymore when dealing with VARs for many companies in the P.O.S industry. I posted a message before about looking for a company that can fill out these characteristics, I gave up. Tibet CCTV software seems to be doing a good job with text overlay. Got any other? -
I have complemented my business surveillance with POS for retail and restaurants. It is very interesting the amount of repeat customers we get. Check my site www.allcss.com Anyone with the same business model, that we can share info?

Louroe is good but expensive. I'm looking for a input very much like a mic hooked to the audio card in the computer. I'm in the market for some audio in the neighborhood of the $20 US dollars.

Anyone knows where can I get affordable audio recording devices for DVRs. I'm actually using louroe kits good but kind of expensive. thanx.

That was a very clear explanation DVR_Expert. What about increasing size of the picture? For example these cards from 123 cctv allow you to increase the size of the picture in the playback mode, it seems like you are zooming into the image. The problem is that increasing the size of the picture it also increases the bluriness. How can I get a better look of the picture without a zoom camera?

I think that I'll try a tweak, since they need the program running while the store is open. thanks for the idea Thomas.

Thomas, My customer has other softwares running in the same machine, and all require Windows. Everything was working fine in another machine with 98 in it. The problem started when we switched to a new one with XP, becasue they wanted a security camera hooked to it. When all the programs are working the cpu is at 10%, but even running this DOS app. by itself the cpu goes up to 100%. I am afraid I will crash.
