Are there any decent wireless cctv cameras??

Well they have RCA ends, and I do know that I can get a adapter to make them bnc.....but usually the quality is terrible. I guess my next question would be, can I take a high quality IP wireless camera and integrate it into the geovision system? Does the geovision software allow me to enter a IP address for a camera and put it into the normal monitoring like the hardwire cameras? Thanks for the help!
  2. Hi There, I am a new Geovision 1480 user and everything seems to be installed, I am seeing the video and everything. I have 7 cameras and 2 of them are PTZ. The issue I am having is this. On every computer I am using otherwise then the MAIN Server directly, I am getting frame rates of 1-6 fps. I am sure as I have some settings wrong because I have not read any recent threads talking about this horrible FPS rate. Can anyone help? The system is a 3 ghz with 3 Gigs or RAM. Also it is a Raid 5 system with 10 RPM drives. So I don't think the actual system is slowing things down. Thoughts?
  3. Ok, Well I have replaced all my other crappy cameras with the NUVICO NVCC-HW3895IR36N. I am really happy with the cameras BUT am running into an issue with one of the cameras. During the day I can see everything that is outside of a 5 ft radius of the pool. At night the views are fine and I can see everything I need to. Someone suggested that maybe an Auto-Iris camera is the way to go to counteract the glare. Is that what is needed? Any help would be great.

Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?

Seems like maybe a DVR issue .. did you try switching the port ... put camera 5 on a different input on the DVR .. that amount of light you have there should not cause an issue. Also, are you using 12VDC or 24VAC? Also, Can you run a temporary Coax direct out to that camera location and seewhat it gives .. or just plug in a monitor right to the camera ... I Really doubt its that one camera is better than the other .. my $50 color bullet has a better image than that even with full sunlight right at it. Everything I am running is 24 volt except for the kt&c camera. I will try and swtich the ports tonight and see if that makes a difference. No I cannot run a new coax out there as it would be a very long piece of coax and unless I plan on digging up my whole yard, I would have no way to make it permament. I can get a monitor and run a short piece of coax just to see if the camera picture looks better on that screen, if that is what you are asking me to try. Is it? So you are saying the glare is still not right...or just the quality if the picture itself? All the cameras seem to look the same, except for the ptz's, but they have auto focus and a bunch of other stuff you all know about. BTW - Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate it, and for those who don't, THANKS for the day off!

Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?

Now look at these pics.... Notice the times onthis set and the previous set. Lightly overcast so there is not any direct sunlight on the pool.

Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?

Ok, Here we go with some more interesting pics. The upper left picture is a KT&C 600N The upper right picture is the Nuvico NVCC-HW3895IR36N (A direct replacement for the one I had in there yesterday and all the other previous pics with this view) The bottom right is the KT&C KPT-SD301FH. The WDR PTZ dome camera. Obviously the opposite view, which was talked about above. Well from what I see, the KT&C, even though is is cheaper then the Nuvico, has a much better picture on glare. Kinda of surprising. The resolution is also better 550TVL vs 480TVL. Trust me when I say I did my BEST to focus the Nuvico the best I could. Ok....let the expressing of thoughts begin!

Here is an update pic: I adjusted the dip switches as suggested, and did the iris (little dial thingy) and this was the best I could do. Trying to adjust that little dial took me over an hour!! Even a little turn made it black or the looking into the sun. Well anyway it is slightly better. Thoughts?

Help with Protocol Changes on my PTZ.

I got a KPT-SD301FH and did not get any instructions for how to change the protocols on the ptz unit. It defaults to Pelco-D and the Digital Sprite 2 doesn't use the D protocol. It uses Pelco-P and several others/ The unit came with instructions for the actual camera, but not the PTZ parts. Any help would be great. BTW- I did go to the kt&c website and there is nothing there to help. Thanks

Help with Protocol Changes on my PTZ.

Yeah good point I will do that tommorow morning. Do you know of another company that may have a converter like that for less money?

Help with Protocol Changes on my PTZ.

It has some buttons on the actual camera if I take off the dome cover. I don't know how much programming I can do, but it has half a dozen buttons on it. But that seems like a band aid for and still only the same solutions as I stated above.

Help with Protocol Changes on my PTZ.

I called them this morning. Pelco - D is one of the most widely used protocols. Dedicated Micros has no reason as to why they are not using, just that they don't. The ONLY three solutions are: Get a New DVR (not going to happen) Get a new PTZ (might happen, don't know yet) Or get this: http://www.sennetech.net/Converters.htm This device costs $250. So combinied with my ptz is still less then the next PTZ with Mechanical Day/Night AND WDR.

WDR camera for dark room with bright light sources.

Well I got the KT&C WDR PTZ in on Saturday and installed it. Here is a comparison. Please note the following. The Top camera is on the West side facing East, the bottom is East Side facing West. Also the Top camera is a nuvico. What this does show is the HUGE difference in glare. You cannot even see the shape of the pool, never the less, the water. Plus also note that it is noon time...so the sun is directly above, so there should be no difference in east to west glare. The WDR can see the water color etc. The reason it is not totally on the pool is that it seems my DM Sprite 2 cannot do Pelco - D protocol which is what that camera is. Another story for another post..... But anyway, HUGE difference.

Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?

The top and middle row, far right pictures are the two views of the back yard. On the top picture the pool is in the upper left corner. On the middle right hand picture it is on the upper right hand corner. You can only see half of it. Here are some day pics: The upper left hand corner pic is from a PTZ I have installed. The pool glare pic is the middle row, middle pic and then middle pic, third row on the upper right corner. You can see the glare and basic lack of ANY picture from that location. Advice?

Pool reflection Issues.....is Auto Iris needed? What is it?

Here is a pic of the new cameras. The last picture still needs to be positioned correctly....that is why it is turned the wrong way.
  20. Per the advice of many members I have purchased the KT&C N600H2. Below are the shots from the N600 camera compared to the original camera at the exact same time. (I tired to match the angles etc.) BTW the camera on the left is the NEW camera. First one is at dusk: This one at 10:00 PM tonight: So I thin it is pretty obvious that the new camera is better. Some of the issues and questions I have are this. I notice that the new camera seems grainier. Is that because of the better vision at night? I just don't know if it is a result of a brighter black and white picture. Second, it seems that the old camera, on the right, has a better focus range. I want the zoom to be higher on the newer one. Thoughts? Thanks DTT EDIT: I don't have any ideas as to what is causing the white shiny dots in the right picture....seems to happen when I capture the pic. It is not there during live viewing or dvr review.
  21. Ok, I have gotten alot of help from everyone here, and I really appreciate it. I purchased the KT&C N600H2 and find it to be a very nice camera. I have realized after looking at the camera above and re-thinking things. that I have some large blind spots. I would appreciate any help anyone can give to help me get rid of them. Below is a map of my property from a bird's eye view, with distances etc. One of the major blind spots is under the patio roof. I have nothing looking under the patio and then the large blind spot on the upper right portion of the property under the pool. There are two access doors there, and I realized that I have no coverage there. Also for the driveway, you will notice that I see ONLY the driveway, nothing down the street, so that is something I want to change. Last but not least, I wanted to add two PTZ cameras, 1 for the back and 1 for the front. Those are more for zooming in for something specific or looking down the street if needed. Lighting is little to none. So IR cameras with mechanical IR filter removal is most likely needed. I guess I am needing help on the following: Getting rid of blind spots Picking the right cameras for job The correct lenses for the cameras (if not bullet style_ Where to point the cameras for best coverage VS Good zoom and detail. Here is the layout (please note the legend in the upper left corner) Thanks alot everyone. DTT

Can any experts comment on the following thread for me? http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=6737 Thanks
  25. LOL... Ok I see lots of confusion here. Let me make something clear that I didn't explain. Every please where you SEE a camera ICON...is NOT a camera in the house. That original plan picture I took form the builders website and when you click on those icons (on their website) it shows you a picture of that room from the inside. The ACTUAL camera locations are all outside and are noted by a "C" and the direction of the camera is indicated by the direction of the red arrow. I hope that makes things a bit more clear.
