Dedicated DVR (non pc) for a 9 camera system.

Thanks for the response. I wasn't looking for a specific 9 channel one. Normally I would get a 16 channel system to allow for additional cameras later. I was looking at the 16 channel from security camera king: http://www.securitycameraking.com/16-channel-federal-series-h-59094-prd1.html Has alot of positive reviews but I am always leary of reviews on spcific sites. I like independant reviews
  2. Hi There, I am migrating from a geovision pc based solution and want a stand along dvr for a home 9 camera system. Needs to do PTZ cameras, access via the web, and iOS devices. Wanted to keep it around $500-600 if possible. Any help would be great! Thanks DTT

    Geovision Iphone Software not refreshing

I have the Geovision software on my iphone, the newest version. When I close the software and reload and reconnect, it shows the same exact pictures at my last login. It does not refresh every new login. I have to exit and reconnect multiple times for it to update. I don't see any settings on the software in the iphone or on the dvr itself that would affect that. Anyone else running into this issue? Thanks

    Weird USB Key issue? huh?

I went and got a geovision approved wifi ip camera, the axis 207w. Configured it with the axis software, no issues. I went to the ip camera setup in the geovision software, scanned for the cam, it found it, them when I went to the 'display position' it says: "connection failed.Limited by USB key.The number is 0" ummmmmmmmmm anyone got an idea what it means? I don't have a usb key, never have. Any help would be great!

Installing Geovision in a Mac Pro....

Has anyone tried installing a Geovision card inside of a Mac Pro using bootcamp? I don't see any reason why this would NOT work, but wondering if anyone has tried it. Thanks DTT

    Geovision 1480 cameras 9-16 issues.

Well did all that, all the cameras are active. Something that is weird is that all the inputs without cameras say "Video Lost" Camera 9, which is the new one, it says 'connect lost' hmmmmmm

    Geovision 1480 cameras 9-16 issues.

Hi There, I have been running a geovision 1480 system with 8 cameras for over a year, have the newest version of software. I hooked up another camera so I needed to add the dongle that goes from 9-16. I plugged it in, hooked up the camera and nada. I unplugged one of the 1-8 cameras and plugged in the 9th camera and it shows up just fine. Is there an internal setting to 'activate' the 9-16 dongle or something? Checked the manual, rebooted, even reinstalled the software drivers. Nothing seems to work. Any help would be great! Thanks

    Anything else but Geovision Multiview?

Does anyone know of any alternatives to using the Geovision Multiview to view my cams from remote PC's? IO have setup a few older tablet pc's in various areas of my home to see the cameras, but the Multiview software is WAY too much of a cpu and memory hog to run well. Are there any other options out there?? Thanks!

    Geovision Iphone app out....

Well the app instructions are pretty basic. Here is the MOST IMPORTANT part, and the part that I was missing: _______________________________________________________________ Activating the GV-iView Function on the Main Geovision Software. To allow remote access to GV-System, the following functions must be activated: 1. Click the Network button, select WebCam Server, click the JPG tab, and select Create JPEG/GIF file(s). 2. Click the Mobile tab, and activate the settings of communication ports. 3. Click OK to start the WebCam server. ___________________________________________________________ Also read this for firewall instructions: ___________________________________________________________ Note: If there is a router or firewall installed, ensure these communication ports required by the WebCam server are open: HTTP Port 80, Live View Port 8866 and RPB Port 5511. ___________________________________________________________ I cannot seem to attach the pdf zip to the forums....it gives me an error, but that is the part I was missing that would not let it work. Hope this helps some people! If you want the pdf instructions, contact usavisionsys.com, go to the live support button on the left, and ask them there. That is where I got it from.

    Geovision Iphone app out....

The more I try and figure this out, I don't think it is anything but the iphone software. The min I press 'done' so it tries to connect, it tells me 'connection failed' I have tried to reinstall with no luck.

    Balun questions

Does anyone know the longest distance that both video and power can be over a powered balun...and if there are some long distance ones, where to purchase them? Thanks
  22. Well I had a dome above the front door and realized when I asked my son who was at the door, and he responded: "I don't know dad...he has a hat on!" that I had to change the location of that camera. So I thought if I am going to mount a eye level camera, I might as well hide it. So I am looking for suggestions on how to hide a board camera by the front door. BUT here is the hitch....imagine you are facing the front door, and there is a wall to your right and left ,making up the archway. The camera has to be mounted to the right wall about 6 inches from the corner for the door. So the camera will need to be mounted at a slight angle facing outward, toward the front of the archway. I was thinking of something like this: http://www.stealthvue.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=S&Product_Code=2025&Category_Code= but would want to make the box flush mounted. I can always mount the board camera on an angle inside the box. That seems simple enough BUT would the smoked Plexiglas or plastic hurt the image quality during the day or night? Any one have any experience in this? Thanks alot! PS - I have NO AFFILIATION with that company, just saw the box and thought it best described teh idea of what I wanted to do.
  23. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Any idea how the tint may effect the quality of the picture especially at night? Thanks
  24. I currently have a hardwired 7 cam system with a geovision dvr system. Everything works fine, but I want to add a few more cameras. There is no way to hardwire them at all. I might be able to get power, but coax and/or cat5 is not possible. I have found some wireless cameras online but the receivers don't have BNC outputs for me to integrate into geovision dvr. Any help would be great! Thanks

Are there any decent wireless cctv cameras??

Do you have any suggestions then for wireless cameras and/or wireless transmitters that have worked well for you? Also I see that you work with geovision. Do you know what the process is for getting a wireless ip camera to integrate into the geovision system? Thanks!
