  1. Dont know if this is the right place to post this and if it aint please admin place it in the right place for me. I have a project in a school where they need about 8 wireless intercoms throw out 8 different rooms. They dont want any wires around the school so thats why they need it to be wireless. I have not ever installed a intercom im into thee cctv side of the business but i will learn how to on this project. What would be the best way to do this the ups and downs. And what to look for and what to avoid. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hello my question is as posted. Whats the best way to for better recording quality. From the cams fix\ptz to the dvrs first then to the matrix or from the cams to the matrix then to a code distribution unit then to the dvrs?
  3. Hello to all, Advice for this project please. A client has 20 dvrs two racks with 10 dvrs each. with a minicom system to be able call the dvrs on the working station and a matrix. O.k heres what they want. They want to move this dvrs to the office next door not the matrix only the dvrs. I estimate about 10-15 feet distends from where they are now. You guys with experience can imagine the black spaghetti mess of cables behind this dvrs/matrix. and of course none are label. Option one: Throw new runs from matrix to new location (but there is a money issue here with budget) Option two: use the cables that are there where the dvrs are now and patch them from there to new location. (using less cable but more connectors) Option three: using vga cables from where the cables are now to the dvrs. Im not sure how you call this but it has the 8 bnc cams connect to then this peace connects to the back of the dvr card. i was thinking of putting a vga cable there and into the dvr on the other end. And i would be using 20 of this cables. The worst part is low budget and me not being able to loose this client or project. How do i post pics on this forum? Any advice i will thank for very much.
  4. Soundy you are right about the vga male\female it did not work i went out and got a 10 feet one to try it out but out of the 8 cams just 3 pop out on the monitor. I search for a NV-3213S the one you mention but the price is way to high for this project plus i would need two (one on each side right?) I really dont want to throw so many coax cables so i will keep serching and trying till i get it done thanks for your advice.
  5. Oh boy, this are geovision cards Soundy, you ran into problems doing this with this cards? HTElectrical i think this would look much more cleaner (and cheaper). This office has a drop down ceiling where i can put a rail up there to hold the weight of all this cables and go from there to the vga extensions but like soundy says i will go out and buy a set first to try it out i called my local computer shop here and they have 20 feet for $12.oo bucks. Can yall help post some pics so you can get an idea of what im working with. Thanks

  9. What are the good and bad reasons to connect a casino surveilance dvrs to a hotel network? Is it a good to have the m.i.s department of the hotel have access to the casino side of the dvrs on a network? Or should the casino have its own network apart from the hotels. Thanx.

  14. Hello ok i don't know much about ip cams, we are working on a casino where they want to make the switch from analog\dvrs to ip cams\nvr. My first question is the hotel and casino have there network should the casino have there own network apart just for the cams or can it be share? second will they have to change all the cams that are already there in Oder for them to work on a network\nvr. Third can any one show me a small basic layout on how to put this together from cam to cat6 cable to PoE-capable switch and so on. Like i said im new to ip cams and i need all the help i can get before i can approach them with this new layout. Thanks ahead of time.
  15. Wow cant we all just get alone. I started this post only for some info on ip from analog. But now im even more confused on it between ip and hd. This casino has about 150 cams total (small island casino compared to the us casinos ) i would say about 80% of the cams are pelcos iv ptz the rest are fix cams most honeywell. With a pelco matrix and a few dvrs but i respect everyones opinion here and i do learn from you guys, i especialy like to read survtech being that he has a casino backround in witch im new at and need as much info as i can get. I hope i can continue to read in this forum and learn of you guys.Thanx (my two cents)
  16. What brand is that ptz. Pelco? Maybe a pic of the inside of the ptz would help.
  17. What can you guys comment on pelco endure systems are they any good and how is there prices compare to others.
  18. tomcctv what they are most interested in is on the tables what they have now they cant make the cards at times or see how many chips are on the table unless they zoom in at live view but on play back when they most need it is when it gets harder to make out. Is hdcctv a better option for them i know the price is higher but right know they are open to all. All there equitment as of now is pelco matrix\keyboard\ptz and there dvrs are computer base with geovision running on them and a minicom system to call the dvrs.
  19. oh, sorry for the amateur questions but we all being here gots to start somewhere. with the licence this is for live view and on storage is there another one or is one for all. And does each cam have its own license. Thanks.
  20. Thanks for the advice this casino is in puerto rico its a small casino they dont have gaming requirements as strike as in the states. But this is why i would like to get as much knowledge as i can so i can present this to them and they are ready to make the switch i can sub-contract but i do need to know as much about this as i can. How do the license on ip cam work if there's a total of 180 cams.

backing up to a external h/d

What would be the safest way to back up 15 days of video from a gv comp. to a 2 tb external h/d can this be done throw the back up system or is there another easier or safer way. Thanx.
  23. ayalas

backing up to a external h/d

I mean safety by not loosing any data or deleting it by mistake. Im trying it by using the back up system 15 days of this takes up 400 gb (belive it not ) this is the reson we want to transfer so we can then erase it from the dvr and fix this ptz that is tacking up a lot space. Its from a casino and they dont want to just delet with out saving it first. This is only for one camara. How would i do it by backing it up in parts?
  24. The size of the field monitor is 4 or 5 inch. survteck i havent mention that this ptz is installed inside of a casino facing a bunch of slot machines with blinking lights and its pretty well lighted. I played around with the agc it was on 25 but it did not do much of a diffrents. It makes a lot of sence what you said about the dark dome when i work on it with the field monitor it was with out the dome attached. I will try againg tommorow i have to do this things when the casino is close or early when its not that full. I will also try to post a pic. so you can get a better idea of what im working with.
  25. I have installed a new pelco ptz spectra 4 cam and the video image comes out black and white. When i re-set it it has color but once i move the joystick it goes black and white againg. I change the rg-59 cable and the connectors but no luck. I also called pelco service but no luck. I wanted to know if any of you guys have gonre throw this and what have you done to fix this problem?
