Axis Companion problem with Q-series PTZ cams
prairietech replied to Blinkenlights's topic in General Digital Discussion
Axis Companion doesn't support their own cameras?? I recently upgrade firmware in an older Axis camera and update Companion to the latest version. In Companion, the status of the camera would show in red with an error. However the camera was viewable and I was able to playback the SD card. Axis tech support suggested a possible problem with the computer which I have not returned to the site to confirm. -
Axis Companion problem with Q-series PTZ cams
prairietech replied to Blinkenlights's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm assuming that the password is for Companion and not the camera password you have to use on the LAN? -
I have used these: http://www.bb-elec.com/Products/Ethernet-Switches-Routers-Extenders/Ethernet-Switches/eWorx-SE200-Series.aspx

The "ants" is a result of your camera trying it's best to produce a picture under low light levels. It's video noise.
-
Your NVR will need to having dewarping capability. The manufacture should be able to tell you if their NVR will work with the 3007.
-
The 3014 is good camera with a very easy installation method using spring loaded clips. I install and recommend this camera.

Never used the door access control. This week I'm replacing a Bosch NVR that was installed new in 2012. The customer wants to add some new cameras but the software won't work with them. Bosch stopped supporting it last year so the customer is dumping it and starting over. This has happened to many of the Bosch DVRs. The client software won't work with Windows 7 not to mention Windows 10. The customer is then stuck with a DVR that isn't that old because Bosch won't upgrade their client software. I would be concerned the same thing would happen with their CCTV / door access package.
-
We used to sell Bosch for years. But I would avoid them now. Their off shore Tech support is hard to understand. I had major issues with compatibility with different versions of their DVR firmware and client software.
-
I doubt that it is a firmware problem. I did find firmware on the Bosch Security web site last week but can not find it now. It was listed under end of life products and I downloaded the client software for a customer. I noticed the firmware was there too. I would guess your bi-phase output on the MR is dead. That was a very common problem on the old Divar 2 units and I suspect the same for the MR. Try connecting your PTZ control cable to another bi-phase output on the MR. I think there should be more that one set of output pins but can't find my MR manual right now either. You will not need to do any additional programming by moving to another set of output pins. I can recommend these: http://www.axis.com/us/en/products/axis-a1001 -
I always use B.

http://www.cambiumnetworks.com/products/access/epmp-1000/ No more service calls. I've never been back to a customer install to work on these.

what satalite provider for security monitoring...

Good luck using satellite, too much latency for most systems. Plus streaming video eats up lots and lots of bandwidth. -
Bosch VDC-455V03-20 "Upgrade in Progress"
prairietech replied to MyDog8em's topic in General Analog CCTV Discussion
Had this issue with one of their older Dinion cameras. The customer was ready to upgrade to digital so that solved my problem. I too thought maybe the camera had got hit with digital signal up the coax but was not the case. -

Making IP Cam's Stream Look Like OTA TV Station On Coax?
prairietech replied to PeteCress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Your going to need an IP decoder like this one to decode the IP stream to analog: http://www.axis.com/us/en/products/axis-p7701 Then you going to need an analog video modulator like this to take the analog video signal and create a new channel for it: http://www.amazon.com/CHANNEL-5415-Single-Channel-Modulator/dp/B000246TJK The output from the modulator will get combined with your existing CATV cable. Using a splitter backwards is the cheapest. All this assumes your existing CATV system will allow the addition of an analog channel. Depending on your system, there may be some caveats to the above. -
Junction Boxes to Incorporate RJ45 Camera Tails
prairietech replied to Justice's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Most of my installations are on commercial buildings so large holes are not as big a concern. However I install Axis brand cameras and their pigtails come out the back of the housing. So this allows the camera base to cover the large hole and the pigtail is not exposed to damage or cutting. The custom junction box link you provided shows an expensive solution. These same junction boxes are available in our home improvement store for around $ 12.00. Add a couple of cable glands at $ 5.00 and you would have the same thing. But everyone is entitled to make a profit. -
Junction Boxes to Incorporate RJ45 Camera Tails
prairietech replied to Justice's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
As an installer, I deal with your problem every day. I wish the manufactures would stop building cameras like that and put a RJ45 connector inside the housing. I either blow a big hole in the wall and push the cable and connector inside or use a round Bell box. The are generally weather proof aluminum enclosures that an outside light is mounted on. I feel your pain. -
portable WiFi hotspot router with an Axis video server
prairietech replied to cameronb's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
These might be silly questions but we need to start somewhere. I assume this camera is running DHCP? If not, did you enter a DNS server IP under the Advanced IP setting page? Make sure a Gateway is entered if the camera is running static. Almost sounds like it can't resolve the domain names. This looks like a fairly new model but some of the older version of firmware did not do email serving very well. Are you running the latest version of firmware 5.50.6? -
Best IP Camera brand that you use.
prairietech replied to jack.agetro's topic in General Digital Discussion
My vote is also Axis. As a CCTV installer, I have replaced many of the other brands with Axis. Normally no more customer complaints after that. -
Another power cycle may fix the problem. Friend, neighbor or family member with access to the house?

Axis Encoder M7014 and Genetec Security Center
prairietech replied to ciroryder's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would agree with Genetec and can't explain how it worked for you before. A license is needed for each entity with a video server. A 7014 has four individual encoders so it needs four licenses. -
Bosch Video Recorder 630/650 Series
prairietech replied to hoangtu186's topic in Computers/Networking
Try this software for the 600 series dvr: http://us.boschsecurity.com/us_product/products/video/videosoftware/advancedviewingclients/videoclient/videoclient_3235 Also be sure to have the latest firmware in the 630. Which you may not find. Bosch used to keep legacy software and firmware on their web site. But I don't see it listed any more. We used to sell exclusively Bosch. Now I try to turn and run away from them. For the aging Divar 2, good luck. -
