any FREE or Low priced CMS software with support for Fisheye
prairietech replied to BrownChiLD's topic in Computers/Networking
Digital Watchdog works great on Axis M3007 fisheye cameras. It is free to download and use. You only pay if you want to record at around $70 per camera. They have Linux server software and windoz too. -
Genetec 5.2 and out of memory errors
prairietech replied to Arstron's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The SMA is your answer. Genetec tech support is hard to beat. They will remote into your server and can usually pinpoint the problem rather quickly. Nothing better or quicker than the direct support they will provide. And after paying for the cost of the SMA, you desire it. -
Genetec 5.2 and out of memory errors
prairietech replied to Arstron's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Actually 5.3 SR3 is the latest version. Is this a server only or is it used for Security Desk too? What are the Security Center symptoms? Lagging video? How many cameras? Anything changed recently? Added camera, changed resolution / frame rate? Do you have an SMA with Genetec? That would solve most of your problems. -
Unknown security device

I'm going to take a chance and say they're LED wall packs someone has painted brown like this one: http://wallpacksdirect.com/collections/led-wall-pack-lighting/products/dwp30 -
Check your router for a DDNS setting and let it manage your no-ip status updates instead of your computer. You will have to leave the router powered on all the time.

Glad the links were helpful. You should have a good cheap supply of these cameras since they will be slowly moving into extinction. I've still got a couple of them running at home but they don't compare to the IP PTZs available now in picture quality. IP PTZs are still too expensive so I can see where your project is coming from. I'll look forward in seeing what you come up with.

I have been interested in doing something like this for years. But now with network cameras getting (somewhat) more affordable, I'm focusing my attention in that direction. However here is a link that may have some information that you can use: http://axtsystems.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=81:biphasemessage&catid=47:biphasedecoding&Itemid=80 Here is another link for software that is already done for you. http://www.serialporttool.com/PTZ.htm Good luck

How to replace camera using Genetec security centre
prairietech replied to kinfaing's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I assume you have administrative access to the Configuration Tool and know your way around it? I believe F1 will bring up the users manual that should detail what I have described below. If so, you will first need to delete the old camera. Even if you are using the same model camera as a replacement with the same IP, Security Center will treat it as a new camera that needs to be enrolled. Plus if you are at the max number of camera licenses, you have to delete the old camera to free up a license for the new one. When you delete the old camera, SC will ask if you want to keep the archives of the old camera. If you answer yes, a small ghost will appear next to the old camera name. You can then add the new camera either by automatic discovery or manual. SC can be a little intimidating at first and I'm not sure how much you know about SC? If you are uncertain, maybe we could set up a remote control session and I could walk you through it? -
Are you certain this is an IP camera and not analog? I suppose the coaxial power connector could have been for external power if POE was not available. The wire color you show do not have any Ethernet meaning to me. You might try googling the model of the camera and see if you can find a pinout for this cable.

Depends on your definition of NVR and DVR. In my mind they have generally the same function. The NVR is probably based around a computer and the DVR is a stand alone box. (most likely with a computer motherboard inside.) There are many situations where the same software can be installed on either box. But in my experience, both units can pre-record video motion event.
-
I've been using old Windows XP boxes for the server and installing Kubuntu or Ubuntu. I don't have anything close to the number of cameras you are talking about so that might be a concern. Are you going to be recording 20 cameras at 12 meg resolution each? That's going to take some serious storage space.
-
I've been building these on Kubuntu boxes. Software is free. You only pay a one time license fee per camera if you want to record. http://digital-watchdog.com/products/?route=product/product&path=120&product_id=870

One door Access Control Recommendation
prairietech replied to xodid2's topic in General Access Control Discussion
This will be a tough door to install anything on. Especially if both doors need to be unlocked at the same time. If one of the doors could remain locked with the upper and lower security pins extended, then a recessed release latch might work. But due to the thin frame of the door, cutting in a recess latch would not be easy. A dual mag lock wide enough to cover both doors might be the only choice. But I guarantee those flimsy aluminum frame doors will pull out at the bottom with the mag lock engaged at the top of the frame. Enough so that kids will push anything they can find through the opening. Been there, done that. -

Do the double doors have a common center post that each door latches to? -
One door Access Control Recommendation
prairietech replied to xodid2's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I would not use a mag lock for an exterior door. Unless the door is really very well built, you will be able to pull the bottom of the door slightly open with the mag lock at the top of the door. If you use a mag lock, you WILL need to provide a battery backup power supply for the lock. The Axis controller will not be powering the mag lock. It will only provide the relay switching for the lock. You will need to provide a door contact if you want to monitor a door forced open or propped open. A PIR REX is a good idea on the inside of the door to provide easy exit without pushing a button. But I also believe a pushbutton REX is also required in most locations in the event of a controller failure. In rare cases where I have used a mag lock for an external door, I wired a pushbutton REX in line with the mag lock power. That way if the controller failed, you can still get out. But, if at all possible, do not use a mag lock for an exterior door of a building where the public is going to use that door. Too many things to go wrong. -
Sorry to hear about your continuing problems but I am not surprised. Bosch quality and product support has certainly dropped in the last few years. And when I did call tech support, finding someone that could speak clear English was very hard. Our regional rep gave me a phone extension that would go to the USA based call center instead.
-
Forgot to mention. You should probably have the latest version of firmware in the recorder too. You should be able to find it on the Bosch web site with the link I sent regarding the client software.
-
I'm very sorry to hear you are dealing with Bosch software! We used to sell only Bosch products for years but recently abandon their products. Their recorders and especially client viewing software is very poor. The only viewing client software I have found to work is this package. It is a rather large file but it does seem to work. http://us.boschsecurity.com/us_product/products/video/videosoftware/advancedviewingclients/videoclient/videoclient_3235 I'm very surprised Control Center 3.36 was running on a Windows 7 machine. Well I guess it wasn't since you were having some lock up issues. Good luck......you'll need it!

Digital Watchdog Spectrum Software 2.3 Upgrade Issues
prairietech posted a topic in General Digital Discussion
I upgraded from 2.2 to 2.3 a few days ago and wonder if any one else was having problems? 2.2 worked OK but 2.3 is not. The android app also got pushed to 2.3 and it is locks up my phone at various times. The time line at the bottom of the client is supposed to be green to indicate video with red showing motion. The time line is there but does not have any color. During playback I get constant "Loading" on the thumbnails. This is using a client on the same local network. I sent an email to tech support last week and have not received a reply. -
128 gb SD card in an axis edge?
prairietech replied to cavcom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I was informed a few days ago that 64gb is max. Also Sandisk class 10 was the only recommend model. We started using Kingston and they all failed. -
Genetec - server lost
prairietech replied to enduser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
How is your system configured? Are both the Archive and Directory Servers on-site or do they span a gateway? The "Server lost" message plus cameras failing over to another Archiver sounds like network issues. How often does this happen? What other programs or services are running on the Directory or Archiver servers? -

One door Access Control Recommendation
prairietech replied to xodid2's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I just installed one of these from Axis: http://www.axis.com/access_control/ Simple IP/web base user interface too. -
I'm using Digital Watchdog Spectrum software and built my own Linux server using Kubuntu 14.04. Also running the Linux client on a couple of computers. Naturally you can use a Windows client to log into the Linux server. The software is free and you can view cameras without a license. But to record, you need a lifetime license per camera that sells for around $70/camera. There is also a free Android mobile app and no additional license is required on the server for the mobile app. Adding large numbers of cameras to the screen is impressive because the thumbnails will automatically scale themselves to the number of cameras on the screen. You can also have several larger thumbnails surrounded by smaller thumbnails. Check out you tube for some good tutorials of what this software will do. http://digital-watchdog.com/products/?route=product/product&path=120&product_id=870

PTZ Dome CAM moves but goes back to original place
prairietech replied to bentech's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Your Bosch camera has a setting that will return to home after a period of no activity from the joystick. You should be able to find the on-screen menu setting for that feature here: http://resource.boschsecurity.com/documents/AutoDome_600_User_Guide___Instruction_Book_enUS_9007201731385867.pdf
