I would use the Axis 247s encoder with audio. (It is small enough to find is a 2 gang electrical box) $499.00 Use the Axis 292 decoder with audio. It is bigger then the 247s (but that should not matter.) The 292 can sequence up to 128 encoders and cameras. I have to look up the price but it think $699.00 PM me if you have any questions Axis 292 Axis 247s I can't PM yet. Guess I'm still a suspected spammer. My main concern is the audio being synced with the video. I have heard some of the cheaper boxes have latency between the video and audio. Nothing worse than seeing someones lips move and the audio not matching.

I forgot to include the NVT tech also specifically stated that active baluns should be used. Apparently the Chicago Transit Authority recently installed a large CCTV system running in the same conduit as the power required for the rail system. Dont be puzzled, please test it out for us. I have had the same experience with cat5 and high voltage as cctv_down_under in that it has experienced higher levels of interference.

I just talked to NVT tech support about a proposed installation involving existing buried conduit. 4 cameras needed to be installed in a building that the only way to connect was via a buried conduit with 480 volt cables in it. The NVT tech cautioned the intelligence of doing so but said technically, the 480 volt cables would not interfere with the CAT5 video. He said balance cables like CAT5 are naturally immune from interference and do not need shielding. I am puzzled about your claim. Randy

Has anyone attempted to control a Philips/Bosch Autodome with their own software? I have a number of Bosch DIVARs and the Control Center software only has 5 preset positions on the screen to click on. None of these can have a name tag associated with it to name the position. Many of the freeware webcam programs have this feature. If you know and understand VB programming and the bi-phase control protocol, please contact me. Randy

I have been installing CCTV cameras starting with Burle, then Philips and now Bosch. Out of the box camera failures over the years have been very very low. But recently, I have experienced a very high failure rate of Bosch LTC0335/20 model cameras of almost 25%! In my case, this camera came packaged in the Unity series housing. In all cases, the video would turn on and off on at least 1 out of every 4 that were installed. Replacement cameras always arrived within 24-48 hours but that's not the point. Bosch claims "no other widespread problems with this model." Maybe something to do with their ISO9001 rating? Anyone else having problems with this model? Randy
