  1. I am using a pc based DVR using K-World card. I currently can control the PTZ speed dome using a RS-232/RS 485 adapter with Pelco D protocol. I have just purchased a Pelco CC1400HZ16-2 (built-in lens has a maximum zoom ratio of 128x). Will it be possible to control the zoom lens from the DVR or the PC on this new Pelco. I thought I saw some software from Pelco which will allow me to control it from the PC which would be fine, but how would I connect this? Is it possible to control 2 different cameras if one is rs422 and one is rs485?
  2. Tech support at Kworld is being extremely helpful and they have assured me that their software works... They believe that I need their DIO board to get functionality of the remote presets and auto function. They are mailing me the DIO for a trial. My gut feeling here is that it is their software that is causing this. edit.. received DIO card no change...
  3. Before these posts I was running the power over the 900ft cat 5, but I immediately changed that when I had the image issues. Originally I did test this varifocal bullet at the DVR and it seemed fine. Now that I have added a Nitek receiver at the DVR and still have image issues only at night with adaquete lighting I am thinking that my problem is adjustments made to the varifocal lens at the time of installation... The speed dome is now carrying the power over 900ft cat 5 - 24 V. I would like to change this in the future as I will need that extra pair for an additional camera.
  4. I am using the K-World 7134b Capture cart with win xp and pelco p protocol ptz... So far K-world tech support has sent me an updated software version 1.5.1 which has allowed me to work the presets from the server only. I have e-mailed their tech support in Taiwan and hopefully they can get the remote software to work with the presets as this is the most important feature to me. Also I have no auto function either. In addition I have been in contact with Vidiguard who has been extremely helpful in getting me going with his software. I will keep working on both programs until I get the functionality I need.
  5. Instead of moving the camera or the light we took a much simplier approach... We painted the clear plastic light cover with black paint only on the side facing the camera. Now we have aqaquete light for the area without potential damage to the camera. FYI... Thanks for the replys.
  6. I am unable to set and use the presets through the DVR using rs232/rs485 with a PTZ dome with Pelco P protocol. I am thinking that maybe I need to be using another adapter besides the rs232/rs485. I believe the DVR manufacturer makes a DIO card or something. The DVR software does allow me to PTZ remotly no problem, except trying to do this remotly is a huge PITA. Has anyone encountered this problem before.
  7. This new PTZ Dome I installed today is about 8 feet away from a high powered halogen parking lot light. In the camera manual it talks about not having the camera near or pointed at a bright light for extended period of time as tjis will damage the camera. If I zoom the camera way past the light it actually kicks into black and white mode and works great. Is it possible to cause damage to this camera being that it is near the light? Thankx, k1lla from man1lla
  8. Today I finally got my PTZ dome installed at 900 Feet cat 5 with a passive balun at each end and the picture is pretty damn good! I have a bullet cam at the same 900 ft distance and it works like crap with the passive baluns and each end. I even swithced out the bullet and tried a box and still shizzit. I have ordered an active receiver for the bullet, and I really thought I would need an active rx at the DVR with this new PTZ. Is this difference in quality at the 900ft cat 5 due simply to the fact that the PTZ dome is a better camera. Are different cameras affected by long cable runs then others? Also can some1 please recommend a decent inexpensive PTZ controller.
  9. I am a novice and before I heard about Geovision I plunked down $300 US on this K_World card. So far very good. I get 8 cameras recording simultaneously at 15 fps , the remote view is working well and was easy to set up, Model: SEC4X_7134b Video Input (per card): 8Ports Audio Input (per card): 8Ports Resolution: 320 x 240/640 x 240/640x480 Compression Format: Mjpeg/Mpeg4 Multi-Card Support: Stack up to 6 cards in 1 PC Recording&Display: 1card: 100(PAL)/120(NTSC) Frame Rate(fps): 4card:200(PAL)/200(NTSC) DIO Boards Support(per card): 1 to 4 DIO boards Watch Dog(Hardware): Support I believe this is a relatively new and unknown brand out there, but I just want to say it aint bad! (edit)...Now I have been using this card and recommended pc for about 3 weeks.(Using 3 bullets and 1 PTZ) In the 3 week period the DVR has gone down only once. I did not have a back up power supply and will add one soon. The remote view is working and I can control the one PTZ camera that I have. I am currently not able to use the auto function or the presets remotely, but I can use the preset function at the server. K-World is mailing me their DIO card to try to help me get the remote functions I am missing. I currently have an rs232/rs485 adapter for control of the PTZ camera. Ultimately, if I can't get the remote auto function and the presets to work I will buy a geovision card. Do these features work properly with the geovision card and/or do other cards require a specific IO card in order to properly control a PTZ camera.
  10. Thanks for the reply's... Looks like I can get a little better price on the Nitek TR515 over the NVT - $123 Vs $164 US - so it looks like I will use the active TR515 RX at the DVR end and passive TX at the Camera end. I know you get what you pay for
  11. Man I hate these no name baluns... I ran 1000 ft cat 5 from DVR to a 420 line box and man!!! Talk about a bad picture. I am in the process of ordering an active receiver from NVT, which should solve the prob. But I would like to try a 1000 ft coax run next time I am in this situation. Any ideas anyone?
  12. Installing DVR with 1000ft Cat 5 run to PTZ... Will I need an active receiver (NTZ) or will the RS485 without any receiver give me a crisp clear picture. Also would I be better off just running RG59 the 1000ft.
