Also, you can just terminate the came runs into an RJ45 connection. THEN FOLLOW WIRING STANDARD LIKE T-568 or T-568B. For analog. Balun http://www.ebay.com/itm/221249637788 FOR IP: POE SIMPLE DONE>.....

Probably not necessary to double up pairs unless you have large current draw (IR, PTZ, etc.) If you do double up you can use a color code, no standard that Iam aware of but you can use one that makes sense to you. EXAMPLE: ORANGE -POS GREEN - NEG BLUE - VIDEO BROWN - PTZ RS CONNECTION

Changing the lens on the Q-See QNC7001B/Dahua HFW2100
icamera replied to testshoot's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
" title="Applause" /> Same impression. I attribute this to poor management. When your front line employees have no clue that means they are not well trained. HIRE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THEIR STUFF... OR TRAIN THOSE WHO DONT! ARE THERE NO KNOWLEDGEABLE PEOPLE ANYMORE? CANT FIND SOME RETIRED ENGINEERS OR INSTALLERS, YOU CANT FIND SOME PERSONS WITH A BACKGROUND IN CCTV? Suggest management probably cares about sales and revenues not about quality, support, etc. -
Higher quality optics. Made to better standard. Otherwise you may very well have soft or blurry picture with a cheap lens.

Dahua IPC-HFW2100 bricked - can it be rescued?
icamera replied to mroek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have one Dahua dome camera bad out of box.... Let this be a lesson to everyone. Buy your cameras from places which stand behind their products with a return policy (COSTCO). Otherwise you have to incur the financial loss from someone elses poor sense, workman quality, or lack of support. -
Anyone have experience? Swann: Used Swann tech support I think once or twice before. They were helpful in my case. Qsee: Very poor tech support. Reps were not knowledgeable about own product line. Some of my call was answered in foreign country (India?) Look at reviews on google seems like I was not first to complain about this company. (THANKFULLY COSTCO HAS A GOOD RETURN POLICY AND THEY PROBABLY DUMP BACK ALL THE RETURNED PRODUCT ON QSEE WHEN THEIR REPS ARE NOT ABLE TO RESOLVE BASIC ISSUES)

Got the new Avigilon 5MP Bullet installed..
icamera replied to camera-newbie's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Not judging resolution only. Judging colors, focus, color accuracy, etc. But it would be very helpful to also see full size image in full resolution. How can a 5mp picture be judged by a 1024 x 768 image? -
How height do you recommend mounting the cameras above floor level for doors. Thanks. As you point out , a reference to the sun would be handy but NOT ONLY for exterior cameras. The cameras by the front door are likely to be subject to large variances of light intensity over their FOV so BLC & WDR will be almost mandatory. but being NUMB NUTS you would have already KNOWN that and it just slipped your mind about mentioning it.

imaginative ways to hide a DVR , WHATS YOURS ????
icamera replied to toolman67's topic in General Digital Discussion
You right... I meant not just easier to install.... I meant surface mounting wire is easier for service. But I agree... Wiring in wall is probably more secure from tampering and damage... -
Not bad image... This is Dahua camera? What model? What firmware is this camera using? Do you know? Thanks.

icamera replied to toolman67's topic in General Digital Discussion
Connections from the outside are easier to install though no? Plus if you put DVR in secure room you shouldn't have to worry so much. iknow, and i often wall mount DVRs too. but that doesn't change the fact that the connections are exposed! i'd like just a plain box on a wall, with a bunch of cables going into it, which are then terminated on the inside of the box! no connections visible from the outside! -
