I thought the number represented the amount of twist per inch. cat3 3 twist per inch cat 5 5 per inch cat 6 6 per inch. Has anyone tryed super twist, it is CAT5 with the pairs glued and spun together, then they twist the pairs. It is a major pain to terminate becasue you have to seperate the pairs to punch down. I used it on some long data runs and it worked great.

Speed test just do not work. If you want a real test find someone with your same provider and have him download from your p2p or ftp and then you will know your real upload speed. Check out how much my scores vary. SBC Download = 17.675 Mbps Upload = 8.316 Mbps Test my Net 36975 Kbps (about 37 Mbps) You downloaded at: 4514 kB/s Speak Easy (most accurate to what I pay for) 10 Mbps Down 8 Mbps Up Bandwith Place 2.5 Mbps Down

I want to place a camera on a building with a zoom lens and point it at the gate. Can I put a IR pointing at the gate next to it and have it light up the gate for the camera on the other side of the parking lot? ex. building with zoom cam 200 feet of parking lot gate with ir next to it (saves me having to wire video to the gate)
-
You got that right I have not made a purchase yet. I was looking at [edit by mod - link removed] for the IR. And a box cam ~$200 with a zoom ~$100 It will be used more during the day to see who is leaving. And night to see if anyone has gate access that should not or if the dumpster guy is doing what we pay for. Day part is more important i was just adding the IR so it was not a wasted camera at night. thanks for all the help, you guys are posting like crazy and I am off haveing a nice weekend.

On the Geo 1480 does it record @ 480 and display local at 480? I guess my question is on the combo cards does remote viewing use the second spec? ex does the 1120 view at 480 only local and record at 120 or dose the 480 also help remove viewing?

My remote viewing will be on the local lan, i just did not know if that took away from the recording fps or the realtime local viewing fps.

I need a IP camera that I can hook up in the house for a few months but then add to my geovision system at the store later. Any ideas? Also are there any Acti Resellers in USA?

Has anyone tried using a TIVO as there recorder? I ordered 3 cameras and a quad today for the house and plan on using a RF converter to send the quad over my home cable on channel 76. I already have the TIVO and plan on trying to record the signal. Anyone have some advice, I will update this post in a few weeks after my install. How can TIVO sell me a 80 hour for 200 dollars and have to deal with constant updates but I cannot get a DVR anywhere near that price or spec.

Does the Geovision Center V2 just give you a GUI that can handel video from multiple Geo systems? Are there any other cards that have similar systems? I am looking at a 4 site installation and remote viewing of all the sytems is the biggest need.

Does anyone else use the HR3000 http://www.handreader.com I have installed some and love them. They work well over VPN and never let us down. They also use them in the Winter Olympics for access control and athlete identification. There outdoor case is way over priced, I had a fab shop custom make one for me for less than half what they charge. Even had heater, fan and power supply mounts installed. If you find a fab shop that makes the cases for stop light equpment they know there stuff.

Yes, the air return is the air space above. This is for a school so the fire marshal will be watching me the entire time. I use plenum everything for schools.
