Too many camera choices, is there a good review site??
Rebco replied to glocklt4's topic in Security Cameras
2 things from my experience with ip cameras they are only good in a well-lit areas, they are still a little far away from low light apps. 2nd I have to agree with Rory on the Bullet camera picks and have to add Pelco & Sony to the box cameras list. -
what did they do steal your mail too? Man you live in a high crime area , You must never get you newspaper.

I have used alot of nuvico products for my installs, Good product for a reasonable price. I think the Ir bullet 30 ft in the air is pushing the limit of the IRs. If you want to save money and don't want to pay the install hire a consultant, the money you think you are going to save you will spend it correcting the mistakes you will make. It's like fixing your own car when you never fixed one before.

Lightening is killing my card, can anyone help? Please
Rebco replied to dpotts1's topic in Geovision
dpotts1 I am sorry to hear of whay happend in you neck of the woods, I was watching it on the news, My heart goes out to all the people there. -
You can but depending on the height of your ceiling and what you want to see you won't be able to make out money. I would't suggest it unless your talking ip cameras.

Please say your kidding

I can only say good luck and then when the SH$t hits the fan when something happends and he holds you responsible. You will probably be saying i should of listened to those F$%ing guys on the forum. $1,500.00 will get you 3 really good cameras. Like people say you get what you pay for. I had a guy near me quote a 29 camera job for $9,000.00 And no this is not a joke or a typo......I will keep in contact with the owner because when the sytem breaks i will just have to replace everything and pay me more to take out the crap he's paying for now. I read the average camera install is $1,500 for one camera so you want 8 cameras times $1500.00 do the math.

Nedd help deciding on this system
Rebco replied to texasdyme's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Here is what is going to happend an i am talking from experience, You will install a cheap system make some money, Then they'll have problems. You have to go and repair it. there goes your time and money, not to mention you name. Use name brand stuff with good warranties something you know is not going to give you headaches. -

This is real sad. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080203/ap_on_re_us/store_shooting I think if they had cameras themselves they would of had the guy already But now they have to rely on video from other stores, I hope the catch this heartless beast and make him suffer.

Rebco replied to glocklt4's topic in Security Cameras
Rory, Your cops have cars down there? In my town all with alot of crime there are more police cars (all without cameras) parked on a given day then patroling the neighborhoods. -

Not to mention your insurance points and your insurance premium -
Nice pictures, good luck with them. Panasonic has very good cameras just if you going to buy at auction be careful with dead pixels...

Camera suggestions for front and back of home?
Rebco replied to glocklt4's topic in Security Cameras
If your going to put cameras there to say i have cameras then by any cameras with IRs but if you are installing a descent system then you need to at least triple your price range for something descent. Nuvico makes some nice outdoor bullets. -
I have tryed to build one together but to bulky now i use a Dewalt 12volt battery pack to power my monitor, lasts a long time and it recharges in an hour. also fits in a pocket

Are you worried about LIABILITY If something happens and you have 60% that means you have 40% chance that you will have a lawyer ripping you a new rear end. sorry about the harsh reality but it's reality. What are the minimum requirements for the system you are using? I think most systems the plate has to be 40% to 60% of the frame unless your using an IP camera. Well Sorry about my rant but good luck and hope you have a good law yer if something happens.

I can't agree more, this is a great quote. Have to use it from now on with your permission. That $700. you will need it just for the good cameras .
