I use those nuvico cameras for my basic installs were the customer is frugal those are ok cameras for general view. I never really liked tempest but thats just my preference. Couple of questions: Can you give us the specs on the power supply, I just want to check if there is enough power for all those cameras. What are the lighting conditions around your house any lightpoles nearby? Off tempest website 10 channel @15fps with 250 GB Hard drive: High 77 hrs or 3.2 day(s) Low 231 hrs or 9.6 day(s) Also check your DVR some websites includung tempest say the 8000 series only go up to 12 channel http://www.tempestinc.net/products/8000Series.php

From what i see the alarm guy should stick to doing alarms but thats my stupid opinion. With respect to the cameras the look like there are nuvico 36 ir 12 volt fixed lens camera, But there might be 2 different cameras there from the pictures. I am pretty sure they don't have dip switches but i could be wrong (It's known to happen every now and then) Would it be to much to ask for a breakdown of what you got. Cameras and DVR (specs). I like the neighborhood and a nice house. Most good cameras come with little switches that you set with all different settings.

I thought it was a spot monitor but i thought someone came up with something new that i didn't know of

Usually when i get new Ir cameras i have the on for a day before the install. I have learned that just taking them and installling them creates problems. I've had IR bullets either get water or condensation in them.

Stupid question but what is a "CALL" input? And when you say MONITOR do you mean DVR monitor?

Rebco replied to DinoSteel's topic in Installation Help and Accessories

I hope you didn't pay him for this! Wow this system really sucks. Honestly you are probably going to pay for a full system again. This is what i tell people "it is cheaper to do it right the first time". or it will cost you double. I see it alot around here IT, Alarm, Cable & Dish installers guys turning into camera installers, without one once of knowledge of system design or even camera specs & functions. Hope you can convince someone (CCTV Guy) in your area to fix that system. Good Luck

Hey dubwiser, I wasn't saying it was bad and please don't take it that way just cameras hate white an when you add ir's forget it, we all have to give the customer what they want no matter what....If it works & you got paid than thats all that counts..

Hey Rory can we use something like a emulator to do it or will we still have problems with drivers? What do you think?
-
do yourself a favor and replace the Hard drive. Unless you want to waste more time.

First off looking at your floorplan i would say double the cameras. Just my stupid opinion. I had a customer tell me that he could get a system for $1500.00 one time and he did Cosco brand he used it for 2 weeks and called me back asking me if i could use the cameras he bought I told him no. Gave him a quote with more labor because now i had to take the other cameras down, Installed a 12 camera system. He ended up selling the old Cosco stuff for $200.00 to a friend. Like Rory said let you boss do what he wants. So then when he is not happy he can't blame it on you. You get what you pay for..... $1500.00 might cover the cameras, maybe. Ok now for the hallway picture the IRs are reflecting off the walls and your getting that halo affect. Like zmxtech said get a different lens and picture would look better, again just my stupid opinion. The Nuvico domes are pretty good i use the all the time.

what ever you do stay away from cop-usa they products & service suck

I totally agree with griffonsystems, The camera you mention is for lack of a better word is cr@p, I first used those cheap kinds of cameras when i started out what a mistake, i ended up spending more money later when i had to replace them for the customer. Like griffonsystems said if there was a camera that can do that for that price the that company would be rich. Like i tell all my customers CSI is not real!

Thanks Scruit, Couldn't of explained it better myself..

Rebco replied to BladeZero's topic in Geovision

First off what is the video card you are using? is it the onboard video card? I had this happend, and the onboard video didn't have enough juice, I replace it and never had the problem again.

Does AverMedia have the same problem with VIA chipsets as Geovision?
