Need help choosing ip megapixel or analog.. or mixed..
Rebco replied to mjunaid4u's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
thankyou for the quick reply well im gonna do the installaion myself i was planning on getting all 16 ip camera's well i can increase my budget a little i was thinking about four arecont 5 megapixel camera which would cost me around $3400 and then the rest of the 12 would be acti or vivotek 1.3 megapixel which run me around $3200 storage would be separate.. i am getting confused here with that acti and vivotek is a good company to go with or no and can i mix these camera's and use the free software provided by acti or vivotek if not which is the other better option i need atleast 4 good quality camera's... I have to agree with thewireguys but seems like you have all the answers, Good luck. -
Yes, but if you want to save yourself some money use a stand alone. Geovision Is a hybrid system but using IP cameras you will need alot of light Nuvico are nice cameras, If you going to use them with out the built in IRs, Nobody here can tell you what cameras to use without looking at your lighting inside and out. There usually isn't a one camera solution. Please don't use an excisting PC to turn it into a DVR no matter what card you put in there. If you use the PC keep it a PC.

With all due respect I find it amusing how your first posting on this forum is you bashing a legitimate company but yet, you do not put your company information on this forum. I personally hope that the moderator removes your posting and blocks your IP. I am old fashion If your going to say something bad about a company at least have the B@lls to be a man and use your info, Not just post something that cannot be proven. -
what are you looking to do ? Do you have any experience at all? or are you looking to start in the field?

how do you protect the exposed wires outdoors
Rebco replied to iamomeed's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I use Liquid-Tite, You have to figure that if they want to damage the camera wire bad enough no matter what you out there they will get to it, Metal, Plastic what ever. -
So what did Pelco tell you tell us tell us

I am actually in the process of putting a bid together and am looking at cisco and firetide as 2 wireless solutions. I haven't used either on so please any advise or comments are helpful....

You better believe they are stealing, Everytime i install a system in a cash & liquor business they usally catch someone within a day or two..

You have to take it as a lesson that you paid for. I always learn that way

Just as a side note, this camera is only 420 lines of res and can be had for between $71 and $150 easily online (which is not expensive at all for a high quality camera). Don't confuse this model speco with a high-quality camera. Just so you don't pass on extremely high expectations to customers... All I know is that the picture looks great when the camera is plugged directly into the monitor. As soon as you run it thru geovision it is distorted. Just because the cameras are not $600 each doesn't mean there not high quality, and when you add up 16 of them it is expensive. I live in canada by the way and prices are not as cheap. I think I am going to switch the dvr to icrealtime's 16 channel and take your advice and downgrade the monitor to a twenty inch. Thanks I have to agree with Alpine0000 It does mean there not high-quality. If that was the case we would all be putting in 16 cameras systems for under $5000.00. Are you kidding? Your trying to compare apples and oranges...No matter what DVR you put in the image coming off the dvr to the monitor is compressed unless you can find a dvr that will give you a raw image.....

I couldn't agree more things should of been planned. Not that they screwed up they want to you to do a patch job with the security system.

This is a little something that i have to get off my chest i have been using Geovision for many years now and I think the management at geovision should know the following. First , the new drop menus in 8.2 are awful; you had a good thing what possessed you people to change it? New things aren't always better. Second , playback function is horrible, why can't you use a calendar? instead of the terrible interface you have now every other dvr I use has a nice playback function with a calendar and lets you pick the hour without having to click on the day wait the click on the camera you want to see then the hour. Who designed this someone’s child come one really get on the ball. Third, can you make the remote playback interface a little better add customers are not going to know what camera is what use the camera name NOT the number. Fourth , can you make the remote view browser interface a little better add a quad view to it. Instead of one or 2 or multi view and again add the camera name, is that really so hard. Fifth, why is your customer service so awful it takes weeks to get an answer, a big company like geovision can't afford to put some people ( ok just one)that know what they’re talking about to answer customers questions. Sixth, Give us better software to use don't make it harder to use. Software designers have a different view of what complicated and easy to use is then the rest of the people. and last, How about providing companies that sell your product to end users some software we could use in the sales of your product. Even Microsoft let us try software before we buy... If I want to show a customer your product works as a hybrid. I have to buy a license to show them. Why can you provide us with demo software we could show our customers why the pay more for you cards then others? These are my opinions but i think a lot of people will agree with me..

problems again with ir camera
Rebco replied to kingo110's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
This is your problem! Could be a number of things, power, bad photocell, etc... I second this motion....... Did you call the technical dept? Kidding but had to do it, We all made our mistakes on cheap cameras. -
I have used control center and the web log-in but most of my clients like to log in using the web log-in and that could be more user friendly... Sorry for not being more specific. I will have to check that out. I once had a question that i asked i got an answer 3 to 4 weeks later.....

Need help choosing a system or creating one
Rebco replied to lgt's topic in General Digital Discussion
I love people like this, first they buy the cr@p system then when the sh t hits the fan and police need to see what happend and they can't make out the person standing 10 feet away, then they say that they spent alot of money on this system and can't understand why it doesn't work... Gotta love it. Had a guy call me for service on his 24 camera system, when to his facility and found this eyemax system put in for $8000.00 I know i couldn't believe it... Till he showed me the receipt from a computer store next town over....well we are on $4000.00 for repairs. Cameras taped together used cameras, Fake windows OS, and more.. Ok end of rant -
