Images are rolling on DVR

I'd bet $$$ that the signals are just a bit weak at the DVR. Try active Baluns, been through this before on a large hotel project. -
Another Wintel conspiracy? Incompatable with Via chipsets.
501 replied to videobruce's topic in Geovision
Who even cares what chipset it is. The absolute most important factor in a DVR is stability and if Intel based boards are the most stable for DVR cards, why even question it? I garauntee that a customer only cares about stability and reliability of their system, not "Chipset Monopolies". Find another soap box. -
Find the exact spec for the Pole display (Baud rates, etc...) You may then have to send in the garbled text to geo along side with what the test should have read. Thye did one for us for another pos brand and it works great.
-
Ya, I think we are on the exact same page. Notice I said geo H.264 not GeoMpeg4 The important part of that press release was "The GV-1480 Combo Card is a high-end real-time video capture card capable of 16-channel video and audio monitoring, 480 FPS (NTSC) display, and 480 FPS (NTSC) recording rate at CIF resolution" Does anyone use 320x240? Why? I can't think of one site I have done that records at 320x240. D1 is where it's at. Looking at those specs, i think that the 1480 probably gets close to the same frame rate as an 800 in 640X480 mode for a LOT more money.
-
Hey Rory, I was pretty sure it was only at 320X240 so i checked their site. Here is the link: http://www.geovision.com.tw/english/6_0_news.asp?stable=News&sfiled=nid&stable1=News&sfiled1=newid&pno1=1&title=News&gname=News&pno=295 CIF only Even worse, tests showed that at 720X480 the best the card did was 7 fps per cam. That actually quite poor. I think the only reason they announced it was, before the quad processor, the 1480 could only do 240fps in 320X240 in GeoH.264.
-
Hey Rory, did you get the info about the 1480's doing 480 fps in 640X480 straight from geo? I have tried asking them so many times without an answer. It's frustrating that they won't even tell dedicated installer the truth. As for the live display, the 1120 I installed looked better side by side to the GV800 on single camera view. It was much better then the other ones I have installed and when you clicked on a single camera full screen, it was in real time. I thought maybe it was due to the onboard video, I'm really not sure, but I was impressed. This is why I am wondering about the 1480's at 640X480.
-
Its weird, I recently did a 48 cam system with 2 800's and an 1120 and I prefered the 1120 this time. What I found was the live display of a single camera was better with tv out off, but the 16 cam view was better (Clearer) with the TV turned on although it was less frames. This system was an intel board with on board video and it was very good. BIG QUESTION?????? Does the GV-1480 record more fps in 640x480 then the GV-1120's? I was told that at 320x240 the 1480 does 480 fps but at 640x480 they are the same. Can Anyone verify this? I think if everyone knew the answer, it would effect the purchasing decisions. I emailed Geo directly several times with no answer.

I don't get what the big deal is. It's not like there is a problem with Intel based boards. And if the price diff is to high (What like $25 to $50 maybe), I'd assume you are using the personally, not for customers, because stability is everything in PC based DVR's. Also other cards like Viewgate and ILDVR need INtel boards too. Perhaps your "Blame" should be placed with via. -
Hardware Compression

Hardware Compression

It would be even better to get some real world video samples from these hardware compression systems. To see the quality difference as compared to software compression especially. -
Can you Identify this board? Anyone want to trade something
501 replied to 501's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Thanks for the info. How do you find these boards? Are you interested in it? Trade for a bullet camera or something. -
I took this 16 Channel board out of a PC based DVR. I am not sure what brand it is, and tried google a bit, but can anyone out there ID it? Is it any good? Anyone want to trade something for it? Anything? I'd trade it for any standalone out there or even a camera or 2? I know it works great, I'd seen it working before I removed it, the software had no name other then the install companies logo. I didn't try to hard but maybe someone out there uses this brand or likes it.

Remote viewing over the LAN means the DVR is good, look to your router. Perhaps you don't have a port open. You should have the following forwaded:80or81 or whatever you like, 4550, 5550, and 6550 by default, for Multiview and it's features to work. If you've done all of this properly, then it sounds like a codec issue. Did you install the Geo codecs?

So some of you would say that Geovision is good enough for a casino? Do any casinos actually use geo?

HELP! Changed drive path and Viewlog isn't functioning.
501 replied to rippinit's topic in Geovision
You need to run the "Repair Database Ultility" to fix this. -
Here you guys go. http://www.remote-security.com/gvupdate.htm

how can i combine 3 geo server for multiuser viewing on lan
501 replied to dcashley84's topic in Geovision
Geo Control Center lets you make Matrix windows of cameras from any of the systems. Plus it has full Viewlog support too. Pricey though, especially for 5 copies. Or maybe Rory can make somthing custom for you . He runs this board. -

501 replied to 501's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
No one has any ideas? The software looked to be the same as Viewgate software which is similar to the older Avetura cards and Watchnet cards I believe. No one is interested in this 16 channel card or would like to trade ANYTHING for it? It works great and if I don't trade it or something it will just grow dusty in an box. -
Excellent information. lillcctv, in my post I stated that i had only tested one type of DVR with MJPEG compression, hence I was speking about only one DVR in particular. The differences I saw though were big.
-
Ok, I know the post below is similar, but I think the solution is different. The Control Center manual says that you can have up to 4 different Matrix windows opened up at one time. I was wondering if there was a way to have one LCD display or monitor for each Matrix window? Would it require some type of quad head video card? Thx

DVR Card/Software Suggestion?
501 replied to gRoberts's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
With geo you have unlimited configuration of the motion area, so I don't see how 12 rectangles could be better. In addition you setup some areas with higher moption sensitivity then others all on the same camera. Plus I found the user interface about 10 times better with geo compared to ILDVR. I just wasn't impressed with ILDVR and it lacked many of the features of geo like POS and such. It's just my opinion of course, so take it for what it's worth. -
The only DVR I have used with Mjpeg was a "Viewgate" model and it was terrible! The resolution and quality was no where near that of geovision even when the Mjpeg was in 640X480 and the Geovision was in 320X240 and Mpeg4.

DVR Card/Software Suggestion?
501 replied to gRoberts's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
We tested the ILDVR cards about 2 or 3 years ago and were dissappointed in both the video quality and the software. I imagine the software has imporve since then. How do you personally find these cards compare to Geo? The resellers claim they are MUCH better then Geo but I just don't see it. -
What do you think of Intel Mobos?
501 replied to rory's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
We moved to only Intel boards about 6 months ago. Not one problem or failure. Our supplier tells us they are his most relaible boards too which is great for CCTV. The on board video is usually enough now for Geo too.
