I had a similar problem. I was using the Blue pigtail to just do some tests and i'd plugged it into the black one ( Cams 1 to 8 ). This was on a combo card.

Has anyone tried out the new Geo Hardware Compression Cards yet? I'd like to see the video quality comparred to say a GV800.
-
I looked at the video again, and I checked it's properties and it said it was in a resolution of 720X288. Maybe that's why the quality isn't that great?
-
I have found the live cameras the same for all the combo cards, not as good as the 800. The recorded video is about the same though. The major gain to a combo card is the TV out because I have never needed more then 1 audio input never mind the 4 of the GV800 (combo has 16).

Stick with the geo 250 or 600. you won' be dissappointed. Just don't run anythign else but geo. -
Are you recording in 320X240 or 640x480? I was told by our supplier that the combo cards all record the same fps in 640x480 as the GV800, so you could look at the 1120 then instead.

Thanks again for the test files and the still shots. Are you installing a lot of these systems or do you still stick with the GV800's or combo cards?
-
thanks a lot tpolus. the stills sure looked better but the video clip wasn't that impressive. What resolution was it in? In WMP it was super widescreen.

Will G-View provide full motion video on my WM5 Phone?

You run the exe to install it on your local machine which then adds it in the next time you sync it. The when you sync it, the program will install. -

Gview V2 is far superior to the Old Version. The video is much much better quality and much more fluid. The is a choice of CIF or QCIF and hi/med/low for quality. At high quality CIF, its actually quite clear, although lower quality streams faster. You can change cams and control PTZ's from the touch screen, its awesome, you can even turn on and off recording if wanted. We just did a customers site with a PTZ and showing someone how you can control a camera in a another part of the country from your phone is pretty mind blowing to some people. The playback is also awesome. -

I have a UT Stracom and when connected to EVDO, the new Gview V2 provides a very clear and smooth video for a cell phone. I was really quite impressed. There is even play back which works great too. My phone runs Windows Mobile 5.0 and has a touch screen (It's also known as the PPC6700) -
Thanks a lot Tpolus, that's great. I have been wanting to see them for a while. In an effort to get exact fps in D1 I talked to our supplier who said that both the GV800 and 1480 will give the same fram rate in D1. Does't geo realize everyone records in 640x480? Anyways, thanks again and I'm looking forward to takin a look at the samples.
-
So you would say that the MPEG2 is that much better of quality. I'd really like to see a sample of the hardware and software cards side by side (ie same cam on both). I would order them for a demo but they are very expensive. Too bad Geo didn't have some sample clips or something.

About 10 feet. We are looking at 42 LCD's and I figure we can have the Geo running in a lower res then the display (Set the display to native and geo to 1024X768) but when he chooses a matrix to full screen it should fill the screen and look good.
-
I have an large install planned (48 cameras) and the customer will be using "Geo Control Center" hooked up to a 42 inch Plasma as well as a 42" at home hooked up to his PC for Multiview. I know version 8.1 supports very high screen res's for things like TV's, I was wondering what brands of Plasma's and what resolutions people found worked the best. i've used cheap "Best Buy" specials (LCD's and Plasmas) with good success, but wanted to use something better for this one. Ideas?

I've decided to go with LCD's becuase of the Burn In factor and the high contrast. So with the resolutions, could I get a TV that is Native 1366x768 and run Geo in 1024X768? Or would I be better of with one that is Native 1920x1080? I want to get this right. I looked at a 1366X768 TV and in 1024x768 it was terrible, but at 1366x768 it was great.

Thanks for all that work you put into making the screen shots for me CollinR, it's much appreciated. I know that the customer definitley wants widescreens so we will loose some of the screen due to bars on the side or I could also stretch the pic to fill although with the new Geo widescreen modes, It might work out ok. You said that it wasn't that great for remote viewing. Why is that? Poor pic or bad fram rates or something else? Would you think it would work good if all systems were on the same gigabit LAN? From home the customer will just use Multiview and the Remote Viewlog. I don't think there is any need for multiple matrixes, also how would you hook up 4 20" LCDs to one PC? 2 - dual head video cards?

Does anyone here have experience with the I3 DVR's and if so what has that experienec been like. Thanks.
-
No one here has ever sold or used I3 DVR's?
-
Ya, I have a Center V2 server running at my office, but I haven't used Control Center yet, and not a lot of people have. I can't imagine it will be all that complicated, I am just curious to see what people's experiences with it have been.

I was looking at a couple of LG's that were on sale locally for a good price and they had a natiive Resolution of 1024X768 which Geo liked, but I wondered if one of the new widescreen resolutions (1600 x 1200, etc... might be better) I know the Pano's are Top rated in Consumer reports, but they are quite a bit pricier then the LG's and without real HD content, I don't know if you'd see a huge diff. Rory, have you used, setup or played with the Control Center yet? How was it and how were the Matrix views? This customer will have 3 GV systems at different parts of the building and I though this would be the best way to manage them. I was going to connct all of them to a Gigabit Router for the extra speed, although I doubt it's necessary.

Post a screen shot of the rainbow effects for everyone to take a look at.

How do I get past windows welcome screen? When restarting ?
501 replied to Arockerdude's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Here is an easy answer. Go to the run command and type "control userpasswords2" including the space and uncheck "Users must enter....". -
Make sure your not putting "http://" in front of the IP or DNS name and make sure your using the right port number and that those ports are opened up on both the DVR and the router. I hope that helps a bit.

I just did the EXACT same thing because of anothers error. About 20 feet of RG59 to 400 Feet spliced Cat5 and it was decent and these were $20 baluns. You shouldn't have a problem.
