  1. How do Cards like these compare to Geovision?
  2. In this case the very best soluution is reload. It might seem like the long road but when all the trouble shooting is said and done I bet its faster.
  3. I actually had noticed that and pointed it out to him but he argued that the chipset in the techwell's was the same. I knew all along they weren't. On a combo card the video controls (Sat,hue, etc...) all have different numbers then on the 800's and down, leading a person to believe the capture chips are different. The smart record feature is also grey out on the 1120/1240 cards.
  4. Is this true about the chipsets being different? I got into an argument with my suplier (Bernclare Multimedia) because I said they were different chipsets and he said they are the same. He in fact insulted me over this. We almost stopped doing business all together because of his rudeness. I would love to get some proof of this so he could eat his words.
  5. I have been waiting a long time to test out the 2004/2008 cards. The only reason i would switch from the GV800's is if the Pic quality was superior. In terms of frame rate, I've never had a problem with an 800 not supplying enough frames and with the new compression methods, you can get a lot of recording out of them. If anyone HAS tested the 2008 cards, I think we'd all love to see a sample of the video quality.

    Geovision skips frames on playback

Truth be told, so have i but I have found systems with the via chipset just don't function properly. We also tried an Intel board that used an ati chipset (we didn't realize the intel board didn't have an intel chipset) and we ran into a lot of problems when trying to use the system at 640x480 (which is why I mentioned trying it at 320x240).

    Geovision skips frames on playback

It looks like no one asked you what chipset you are running. With a GV800 card you need an Intel chipset, NOT sis or Via. Check you mobo specs to see what chipset it uses. Also as a test, try viewing/recording at 320x240 instead of 640x480 to see if that makes any difference. The GV800 is a far far better product then the Swann, you are facing installation/configuration issues, which is why its sometimes best to stick with the ease of a standalone.

    Geovision skips frames on playback

What codec are you using? I've found the playback, especially at 2 speed or above is terrible with the H.264 compression. Try the Geo ASP.

Hide CenterV2 Log - Program Download

Rory, you should work for geovision!
  10. Hey Rory, I was just wondering what the advantage to using 640X480 Deinterlace versus standard 640x480? I find that the pic quality is quite a bit better with 640X480 although really fast motion doesn't record as well. On our systems we set them up: 640X480 (source and rec) Rec Quality - 5 GeoMpeg4 or H.264 for longer recording times pre record (good) Post - 5sec

Geo vs DVR's on live view

The T will work fine with a GV800 because you can adjust the AGC to compensate for the weaker signal, or if the swan has looping outputs, use that.

Geo vs DVR's on live view

I find that if you want to look at 16 cameras at a time, the PC monitor will be clearer, but on a single camera view, the TV output is better.

    Viewing cameras on pocket pc

The Gview works on pocket pc and phones (I use it on the UTStarcom PDA phone). The new program which just came out (GViewV2) is much better, but it only works with 8.1.

    Geovision 8.1 software Problem

In your play back settings, change it from frame by frame to real time (Its a button on the right hand side in the Viewlog).
  16. Plus a 1480 card is very processor intensive. If you are recording in 720x480 and have a lot of cameras, you are definitley running that processor pretty good. If you don't have a lot of ram, I'd limit my pre-recording as well.

    NEED GEOVISION 800fps software

If you mean a GV-800 software, version 8.1 is on Geo's website or try here: http://www.remote-security.com/gvupdate.htm

Cameras Freeze up every 15 mins or so!!

If the PC we are watching is the one running Geo, that's your problem right there. It is full of programs. You need to format it and only instal windows XP on it's own partition and only install Geo and possibly a few other programs.
  19. You got it Rory. I also love the mini view for in the corner of my screen while working. Keep up the good work.
  20. I also agree. I find the interface to be excellent, especially in the 9 camera view. I hope in the next version Rory changes it so that it only streams the cameras you viewing, not all available (would increase frame rate). That is not even fair to mention because it is so superior in every way to the geovision Multicam Remote view software. Like I mentioned, i really like the quality of the 9 camera view full screen on my 19inch LCD, its very good.
  21. GV600-4 port will satisfy all your needs. It's not really that much more expensive then the GV250 but you get better frame rates. For the quality and features you get the extra $$ for Geo is quite small. Especially if you need to spend time trouble shooting problems, then the support for geo is everywhere.
  22. I know you changed the source, but did you also change the resolution that the cameras record in? Go to the configure, then system configure, then next to camera #1 and on any of the camera configure screens, next to the recording quality slider there is a right facing arrow. Click this arrow and make sure that the resolution is changed here. Then apply it to all cameras by pressing the hand with the finger just above. Hope thats what you were looking for.

    GV800 system crashes during recording

I had 2 systems with ATI chipsets and GV800 cards and both were problematic. I'd get rid of the motherboard first.
