Perhaps you have aground loop? Try a ground loop isolator. I find combo cards are more sensitive to this then the GV800's.

Do you have a spare 16 cam recorder you could put in place while you are doing the upgrade? This way there is almost no downtime?

GeoVision Access Control System??? anyone try it yet
501 replied to kyrotech's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I've installed about 4 of them. VERY easy product to install and program. Very easy for customers to program too. Could use a few more features. I am surprised that there hasn't been a new version yet. I did have problems getting the built in multiview to work. -
Choose the camera you want to view by single left clicking on it (It will put a red box around the camera) then click the "Zoom" in magnifying glass to select just that single camera.

IP Cameras and Video Analytics Software

Phoenixad, I have wondered the same thing, and you bring up a VERY REAL point. How can an exterior PTZ in a parking lot with changing lighting and weather patterns be able to track vehicles or people when at any point in time there could be one or 50 people/cars. Everyone asks for this, but it's going to be a while before we can deliver it. For indoor hallways and such, why not just put in more cameras, it would be cheaper. -
They have one, the compact DVR. It can be used to also record on a normal GV system via IP.

Swann vs Q-See DVR System from Costco?
501 replied to kitaudio's topic in General Digital Discussion
It can all be summed up in one simple sentence we have all heard, "You get what you pay for". I have had to replace several of those systems at small retail businesses because the quality was so poor. The live vew can look ok but check the playback, you will be dissappointed. -
I just upgraded a customer to 8.1 from 7.02 after checking to see if their hardware qualified via the geo tool. The install went fine but after its done not one of the Geo software programs will load (GV800.exe, mediaman, viewlog, etc..) It won't start auto or manual. When you open task manager and run gv800.exe it doesn't even show up, just nothing happens. I am stumped! What should have taken an hour has got me into it for 5 hours already. The system is 200 miles away, and I am working on it with PC anywhere, but nothing seems to work. I did a system restore to version 7.02 and it was fine then I tried to upgrade again version 8.1 and deleted the install folder and now I can't retore back to V7 either. Ideas? I got the system working. I deleted all geo files, installed 7.05, then upgraded to 8.01 then upgraded to 8.1 and its working great. Perhaps the version 7 was just too old to upgrade to 8.1 from. At least it's fixed.

How do you actually USE the bandwidth control service once it's running, I can only start or stop it.

Make sure you have the smart record feature enabled, this helps a lot.

geovision software to view 2 remote locations with 1 program
501 replied to tomdlgns's topic in Geovision
How many cameras do you intend to watch? Multiview allows up to 16 cameras from any number of GV systems at a time and it's free. Control Center is a paid software package that will allow you to watch 64 + cameras. -
I have been having some serious issues with version 8.2 and the Gview V2 (and angry clients). I PM'd Andy and he had me a solution within 24 hours! It's a REALLY good thing he is on this forum. Thanks Andy.

Black line taking up lower part of vid from Pano CCDs in Geo
501 replied to rory's topic in Geovision
Hi Andy, the problem I had when using the IP feed from a compact GV DVR. On the compact DVR, the video is great and these same cameras work great plugged into any Geo card, but when I used a GV1240 card and have it recording the stream from the compact DVR, there are thick black lines. I can pm you a link if you like. -
Zooming in to get good faces or licence plates from more then 10 feet away isn't going to happen with standard cameras unless you have a narow lens zoomed in on the area you want to watch and I'm willing to bet you are using wider angles on the camera lenses. Faces and plates are two of the toughest and most important things to capture. Megapixel helps.

Black line taking up lower part of vid from Pano CCDs in Geo
501 replied to rory's topic in Geovision
Just did a new install. Geo Compact DVR in a remote building recording the cameras, and then gv1240-8 also recording all of the cameras via IP. Quality is fine but just like Rory, there are thick black borders. never seen this before. -
Have many of you noticed that the DDns servers go down often? It seems like the dipmap ddns service is often not working and then customers can't access their system. Has anyone else noticed this?
-
Hi Andy, does this mean ALL existing systems need to load this new version of DDNS? Is there any hope of this being fixed?
-
Andy, any progress? Still a LOT of customers down. Please let us know.
-
About freaking time. I bet it only takes 2 years for 8.3 to come out. Will current hardware supporting 8.2 support 8.3?
-
Ya, I had the same problem, but the old ddns service I was using was going down too often and I assumed that a company like Geovision would ensure their ddns service was running all the time.... guess I was wrong.
-
Whats happenning is the service doesn't work. So when you even try and ping the address (yourname.dipmap.com), it comes back as "could not find host" even when the system is online and it says the dipmap is updated. FYI....This is NOT the case for all address, there are some that still work, but the majority don't, they come back invalid.
-
It's been down for days and all my customers are connected to a VSM server via the dipmap service and NONE can connect because the dipmap is down. Andy, please contact Geovision and get this fixed ASAP. This should be working! I don't mean to be rude but this causes my phone to ring 20 or 30 times in the morning, and that isn't much fun to tell people it's down.
