Dipmap is/was down again. Andy, why is this service always going down? Our phone rings 10-20 times when it does and we have a lot of unhappy customers. Fixing it should be a priority for Geovision.

Been around since version 6 I believe. Never used it much.

Black line taking up lower part of vid from Pano CCDs in Geo

So it may be just an 8.2 problem then. Keep us posted. -
To scan by quad view, go into the system configure and click the green arrow next to the camera scan and choose "scan by 4 cam". Is this what you were looking for?

The new Gview V2 on some of the smart phones actually works quite wel. Fliud and good quality.

Black line taking up lower part of vid from Pano CCDs in Geo

Its sounds like the chipset on the camera is confliciting with the Geo BT878 chipset. I saw a similar problem a couple years ago with a GV800 and Everfocus cameras, changing the cameras fixed everything. Let us know what happens when this same cam is plugged into the other DVR's. -
Card Selection for Vista

Any new Geovision card running 8.2 will. -
So on the exact same machine with the exact same cameras, you will get different pictures from different versions of software? If so, I'd take screen shots of everything and email it to Andy with camera models, etc..

Considering the Geovision is one of the larger card sellers in the world, having DDNS services down for several days at a time is a major issue, especially when the address os a VSM server uses the dipmap. Andy, get on it
-
Ya, truthfully, with Physical Access, there is nothing you can do to prevent it. Heck they could just short some wires and kill the hard drive, or put in a boot disk and then format the drives. Hiding the DVR system and only using remote access can help this.

I just finished an install with a 1480 running version 8.2 and 5 PTZ's, and 4 Video Servers and starting this week, the system runs at 100% cpu and is slow as molasses. Andy, can you help? Update: Did an uninstall, removed all things Geo related, rebooted, re-installed. Same problem. 8.2 sure has it's issues.

Very simple solution, offer your customers the service of the vsm, then it will alert them if the DVR is off, someone has tampered with it, recording stopped, rebooted, etc..

What ports do you have forwarded? Also some ISP's block port 81 so you might want to try somethign different. You will need: 80 4550 5550 6660

I believe it is related to the BT878 chip on board not being compatable with the cameras while the Techwell chips on the combo cards don't have this problem.

For the NV3000 card a decent P4 or better with 1Gb of ram will be ok, 2GB better. You can use that with IP Cameras too. And you can stack them. I have one that I purchased to test out before ordering a wack of the 6480 express cards. It was only used for a couple days. You can have it for $100. PM if interested. Still has warranty.

The best thing to do is record the video on the GV650 system, then remove the card and replace it with the Gv1120 or any combo card and test that. If the video is fine from the combo but bad from the 650, you know it's a chipset/driver issue (They use different chips). I have a Gv650 in my system at home running 8.2 and it's never given me a problem, and I've never seen a difference between a 600 and a 650 or 800 in terms of quality, only frame rate. Rory's test pics should be interesting.

You just have to "export" the host.ini file from the Edit Host screen in Multiview and then go to the new PC with Multiview installed, go into the edit host, and choose import, and then browse to the host.ini.

It's a brand new Duo Core Processor with 4 GB of Ram. I don't think it is the Codec because there are only 7 cameras connected direct, the rest are on video servers which already do the compression. I had the video sevrers set to a different video source then the direct connect cameras (720X480 instead of 720X480 Deinterlaced), and since switching that, the CPU isn't staying at 100% (60-80) but I'll watch it for the next day or two too make sure.

I have been looking and 8GB Solid State drive are now down to about $250 or so. Wouldn't it be a good idea to load windows on this drive, and then use regular sata for storage. I would think this would make for a more reliable and stable machine if the drives prove to be as good and they appear. Thoughts?
-
To me, no moving parts would be a great benefit for stability. Please keep us updated as to what you find with more testing.

I've been using all of the Geo cards over the past few years and haven't noticed a huge difference in quality from 7 to 8. I don't install the 650's often but we've done a few over the past year including one installed at my house and I've never had a problem with bad picture quality, but I have recently stared seeing kind of purple halos in the picture of a few of the cameras on a couple ocassions. I had assumed it was the cameras but now I'll have to look deeper. Is it possible to see some of the bad things you guys are seeing?
