    Control V2

I thought I remembered you could have Center V2 record in 640X480. Did you enable the 640X480 in the webcam server, perhaps this has something to do with it.
  2. I've read about Kodicom. What are the pro's an con's of these cards/software? How does it compare to Geo?

    Control V2

I've used them both and both are good. Center V2 is what you want to use for recording onto a remote system. It will record clips based on motion or alarm events, but all that video can take up a lot of bandwidth. You can set it to only do so for certain cameras or at certain times. Control Center is more for administering or viewing many DVR's. I've used it to connect to a 37" LCD and then link into 48 cameras at a Hotel with fantastic results. It very nice compared to haveing to switch to a different DVR, you can do everythign on any DVR right from the Control Center. Its like $250 but quite impressive and good for connection to many sites at the same time. I've also noticed that it seems to stream faster then Multiview with 16 cameras because it reduces the resolution, but it's not even noticeable in terms of quality.
  4. Haha, thanks a million Rory, unfortunatley, the jpgs can't be viewed either. I have 10,000 jpg's ranging from 5k to 100MB, but can't open any of them. I just got off the phone with Tech support and they said that the only way to back up the files is to VCR. Why would anyone sell a system like this?
  5. So I can recover thousands of jpgs, and when I restored them, I couldn't see anything on the computer. Some of the jpg's are small (15k) and others are large (69mb). I tried downloading a .jpg codec but that didn't help. Just need o view the files now, and hen I can find exactly what I need from there.

    Vital Sign Monitor?

I am thinking of setting a VSM server in our office so we can monitor the health of our customers systems and respond to service issues sooner. Has anyone implemented this or had any experience with this product? How did it work?
  7. Just thought I'd start a thread on RAM for the Geo cards. I usually use 1GB for both GV800's or Combo cards (1120 or 1480). How much is everyone else using? Does anyone see an advantage to using more then 1 GB? The systems I've built seem to be stable and never seem to be short on memory but ram has come down a lot in price these days.

    Webcam Program, Multiple Hosts?

You can use the DDNS address to add a server to multiview. make sure you don't type the "http" just use "name.dipmap.com" for the IP address.
  9. Thanks Rory for fixing the pole. After this post, I'm convinced that 2 GB is the way to go for the price. I have discussed this at the PC shop we have been dealing with for years and they say anything over 4GB isn't even used by XP, and that over 2Gb is not really helpful with only XP. I have found that Rory's "tweak" program speeds up systems nicely too. I really really like that app.
  10. Darn, there was a 2GB option when I was typing it, I must have screwed up somewhere. Can I edit the pole now and add it in? I was wondering if that is what a lot are using. I was once told that RAM helps a lot for the remote Viewing server side of things. Rory, do you know if this is true? Just finishing up a nice system with an 1120 card and 3 PTZ's + 13 IR Bullets. I was wondering if bumping up the ram from 1 GB to 2 would help any?

    Geovision

I've used 600's on some very slow systems and they always seem to work including a few AMD systems, so you should be fine. I actually ran a GV600 card about 4 years ago in my old house on a Celeron 433 and it worked fine for over a year. We had a full fledged break in where all of my tools, home theater and even clothes were stolen and it was all caught on video and they guys actually served Jail time because of the video. I might have to post that video some day. It's been a great sales tool for me, and you should have seen the insurance adjusters face when he came over and saw the video. No questions after that, he actually wrote me a check that day for my tools.

    Camera Theft

Why not use 2 good vandal proof Dome cameras (with IR's), and throw some silicon on the back when you mount them to "glue" them to the wall. They would be harder to steal and harder to tell what direction they are looking. I've had a lot of people think that "dome" cameras see 360 degrees so maybe some criminals think that too. Just a suggestion.
  13. I just tried click the quad icon more then once and it never changed. Hmmm. Anyone else try it?
  14. After all these years, I didn't know that. Thanks for the tip James!
  15. Here are some ideas: A nice short cut on the screen for tweaking video attributes that can be removed or added by user account would be great. POS Icons that could maybe run in a pallete that could bring up the POS history. More icon driven then geo's, ie: 4 icons on the right hand side with "POS1", "POS2" etc. and when you click it it instant brings up the history for that interface. The ability to have 5,6,7,8 as the quad view. Geo had needed this for a long time, the ability to live view 4 cameras other then 1-4 without the TV output. That's all I can think of. If your app software is as good as your Livevue, it will be awesome.
  16. Thanks for the info. I have a few more questions: Currently, they have just regular door knobs with no lock, along with dead bolts. If we put the strikes on the door knob latch, it will always be able to be opened unless we install new door knobs (14 of them), can the strikes be used on the dead bolts? This way the dead bolt would stay locked all the time and if the strike was locked the door is locked?

    Run geovision as a Service

We always use the auto log in feature too, but for this case they need the service. Thanks Collin R, that's a great trick. One question, should they start the GV800.exe or the DM500startup.exe that runs when you add Geo to your startup?

    Gview and VPN (and RPB)

For Gview V2 you need to use the folling ports: Mobile Phone Viewing – 8866 Mobile Playback – 5511 Be that's the problem.

    Multiview on Dual Monitor Display

You got it CollinR! That file was not in the install directory, but I took it off a DVR here in the office, and then set it to place multiview on the other side of the screen and it worked, so I will try at the customers site with his dual displays. Thanks.
  20. I Have a customer who has a dual head video card and the primary monitor is a standard 19" LCD and the secondary is a 37" LCD. When they load up Multiview, the program is locked on the small display and can't be dragged over to the larger display. Is there any way to do this or would Control Center work on the other display?

    Long story with bad images

Too far. Been there with the exact same problem, and even with the active baluns the picture wasn't perfect.

    Problem with GV2008

Have you tried removing one card at a time, to elimante it being one bad card? They are stackable so you should be able to test it out with only one card in there.
  23. Funny, not one of the typical "salespeople" replied.
  24. I see a lot of people who work for DVR/DVR Card/ Software makers who claim that their cards or software are the best, have the best video quality, etc.. SO, why don't all of you (And there are a few) post some sample video clips, still shots and maybe even some screen shots of your systems. Links to demo remote viewing would be good too, but actual video clips are a much better demo (And NOT just DVD's input into the DVR, CCTV cameras).
  25. Obviously an IP megapixel camera, but that is an amazing picture! Imagine if we could get pictures like that on standard digital systems. So just for informational purposes, what does a camera/DVR with this type of res apx wholsale at? I know the price could range a lot, I am just looking for apx.
