Greetings. I'm doing a set up utilizing sony SRG-300H cameras, which have Visca-Over-IP control (not going to use RS-232 for this setup, for several reasons), and I need a solution for PTZ control, specially one that's as as easy to control as possible. There's strong time and budget constrains so I gotta buy local from only a few options I've seen. I have found this device of which I've seen a few variations online: http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ve/MLV-465024595-control-joystick-3d-para-camaras-ptz-_JM and I'm trying to see if it's at all possible to identify the maker and model (there is no info from the seller) from all the similar devices, to be able to find (hopefully) the manual online and check specs to make sure it'll fit. I wonder if anyone has any information or recognizes this particular device and can give me a name to go on. I doubt there's any real information online though. Thanks for any help nonetheless.

I want to install them as a backup system, as last resort in case the nvr and the backup (hidden nas) system for the main cctv set gets removed or destroyed.

Greetings. I'm helping a friend of my parental unit set up a CCTV system at home. It's going to be a 11 camera (8 domes, 3 EXIR bullets) system, all of these outdoors. I originally was looking at HikVision, working with 3Mp network cameras, and looking at a DS-7716NI-E4/16P NVR to record, plus going to put a raspberry pi with an HDD as a NAS hidden somewhere as a backup in case of NVR stealing/damaging. The thing is, I'd like to have access to the network cameras directly for some future ideas for the system, and I'm unsure whether the PoE switch in the NVR is bridged/switched with the LAN port (to allow direct access), so I tried asking Hikvision. Hikvision support motherhome wanted to know where I bought the NVR that I hadn't bought yet, after I told them I was considering Amazon they told me they couldn't support me, and to please help them stop unauthorized selling of their systems and denounce the sellers. So, I've tried contacting sales for latam (installation will be in latam, though purchase will surely be in the us), and just got a boilerplate email wanting all of my contact and identification data to "avoid hysteretics".... so.... out of the window with Hikvision. I originally chose them because the price range seemed acceptable, and I saw many people in this forum and elsewhere talking well about hikvision technology and their products. But with this kind of support, I am not sure I'd feel entirely backed up if I needed to process a service, or warranty or make a question, or anything at all. So, I come and ask... is there any other vendor that is not markedly more expensive, that has a more amiable support structure (and maybe more thorough documentation so I wouldn't have to contact them for these kind of things) and good enough quality build that you'd recommend please?. Greetings. I want a couple disguised (photo frame) cameras. I need them to cover a medium/small area (about 6 meters throw, 5 meters side to side). And record internally with at least one week of 24/7 with a 8 or 16gb SD (if it can fit 4Gb, better). I know I can go online and find a million brand-less cheap ones, but I want something not TOO expensive but with some level of quality and trustiness to them. Is there a particular brand/maker/site you'd recommend for these?

Greetings. Could anybody who uses/has used the HIKVISION DS-7716N-E4/16P NVR please tell me if the 16 PoE switch ports are switched with the LAN port on the device? I'd like to be able to directly access the network cameras from the LAN (where the NVR will be connected to via LAN port), and I wonder if this NVR would allow that (Without it being in the middle, like doing NAT or having to do static routing, etc).

Greetings. Doing a setup with 10 points for someone. Now there is one point I'm going crazy about, and I wonder if I'm crazy about my idea. We're going with networked hikvision cameras plus an NVR. It's several dome cameras for inside home, but there will be 4 outside cameras, 1 dome in a little ceiling over main door at 4mm looking down. But then there's cameras 15 meters away to guard the door (and the dome over door), and the garage door and another camera over garage door which guards the cameras in the corner... here is a little sketch of the garage door side of things: http://i.imgur.com/rkyxsZW.jpg now, since they're 15m away on outdoors I was thinking about DS-2CD2232-I5 EXIR cameras ( http://overseas.hikvision.com/en/Products_accessries_159_i5249.html ) ( In previous experiences with domes/bullets, I find their claims of "30m ir reach exaggerated, specially on such large outdoors settings, thus an exir camera). But being 16:9 and the cameras being 15m away, and 7m over the floor level, the lens calculations do not produce anything logical, until I came with the idea of putting the cameras on their side, turning them into 9:16, and I see the cameras provide image rotation, so I can rotate 90° (or 270°) to produce a visually understandable image. According to calculations, in camera A with a 6mm lens (I'd use 6mm for all 3 cameras), I should be able to see camera B and see the floor of the garage door at 7.35m from the camera, which is enough to cover more than the whole garage door which goes from 8m to 15m from camera.... am I crazy or is this a good solution?

Regarding analog, you're right. I considered it for a short while, but I finally decided to go with network cams. Most probably hikvision (so far). Thanks for the feedback on PoE... I just realized there's a similar topic next to mine... so I'm doubly stupid.

Greetings. I'm doing a setup for a friend of my parental unit. It's a smaller 8 unit setup and I'm still deciding Wether to go with analog, or network based. If I go with analog, I might get a hybrid DVR to allow future easy expansion. But, in the case of going with network, I'd like to go with a NVR which has switch and PoE built in, to avoid extra/external equipment. But, even when the longest run is still half of top length TCP run at 47 meters long, it worries me a little whether the PoE in the system will work well enough for a run of this length, and I wanted to know if you've had runs this long or longer without power troubles before.

Thank you so much Tom. Now from what I am seeying around, there is no SDK available for TVTs, much less so for linux? This is a big big hit for me. Unless someone can help me find a working sdk, or one CAN be concocted from mixing in hik vision and dahua ones somehow :/. Anyhow thanks so far for all the help. P.s. How did you recognize the dvr? just the menu interface? or is there something in the front/back planes that helped you identify it?

Ok, I've gotten some pictures to show you guys... First, this is the UI (In spanish, sorry), http://flickr.com/gp/awenanam/vPYJ5U This is the front of the unit: http://flickr.com/gp/awenanam/YBt7Q2 And this is the back of the unit: http://flickr.com/gp/awenanam/H66jMY Now a new detail I've found while checking out the program for windows (CMS, no other names on it) that came with the unit, is the fact that there are both hcnetsdk.dll (HIK Vision SDK apparently), AND dhnetsdk.dll (Dahua SDK it seems), on the program directory... which could mean this is a hybrid dvr? that would make coding my own client a little difficult. Also I've not been able to make any of the demo programs on either SDK for linux (newets HIK Vision, and newest Dahua) work with the device, not sure wether due to problems with settings/compiling the programs, or wether due to a hybrid nature of the device. I would need to see linking to see what calls in each dll are used by the cms.exe app. :/ this is going to be a long fight it seems.

Hello all. We have 2 DVRs of what looks to be a Dahua based system, The vendor name has been overriden for a local vendor (NGSVISION). These vendors know nothing about SDK or new firmwares. I'm trying to use the Dahua SDK to make a few programs for linux as our main workstations are linux based (and I've not managed to make the suse PPS work yet), but none of the demo programs in the SDK connect to the device, so I'm wondering if the firmware version is too old. Saddly the local vendors know nothing about SDKs, or firmwares, they just sell, and drool. This is my /mnt/custom/ProductDefinition in the device: And this is the output of the main binary file: /var/Sofia : (I'm guessing the segmentation fault is due to another copy of Sofia already running), I entered the device with the user root, and password xc3511 which I found here.... Do you think this is actually a Dahua device? Do you think I can find an older SDK that will work with this, or a compatible "plain" firmware that will work for this device?
